The "Billboards emptied" line isn't a reference to the awards but more like to music in general during the time of covid. "The billboards emptied" = no new/very few performences by artist during that time. Its like a mirror which shows how covid was and the effect it had on the artistic world in particular. Its also important to differenciate between "empty" and "emptied" here. Emptied suggest that something was there in abundance. But now its been stripped away, leaving an emptied billboard. Like how covid stripped away muaical performences. While empty, like you wrote, could suggest that there may not have been something there to begin with. Which, imo, isn't the intention with this song.

@@sweateryoshi4026 We know the story, they're just pointing out how cleaver it is to choose this song when she references it. It's clear she symbolically wrote it about during her covid absence. People can be cleaver with other things as well, That's how Florence is.

The combination of wuthering heights and the red shoes is so good (idk if I would do everything the same) but I love the inspiration and the passion!!!

Actually the shoes and the whole styling and art direction are referencing the 1948 film The Red Shoes, Florence posted about it on instagram (although that’s also the film that Kate Bush referenced I assume)

@@thebohemianblues the original reference - (is from a brothers Grimm fairy tale , turned ballet, turned movie ) etc - but the entire performance is an ode to KB- ex. the wuthering heights dress - (originally a book turned movie) - wearing the dress and doing the iconic dance movies with it !

@@armt8543 I know the Grimm story is the original but Flo literally posted an image of the 1948 movie, followed by a photo of herself wearing the red slippers and a similar dress as in the movie, standing on top of paper sheets scattered across the floor just like in the movie. She also mentioned being inspired by the storyline of the movie, the protagonist’s struggle in choosing between her lover and her career, a topic relevant to the new album (King), as well.

@@gracie99999 No, lip sync in a live performance is just lazy and cowardly. No amount of attempted memes will change that. If I want to see lip-sync I'll just watch the music video, not pay to see a live performance.

Imo, I feel like there’s a time and a place for it, many pop starts today are expected to execute full choreography while singing and we don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes, etc. I’ve noticed that non-American musicians especially within the pop genre are typically reared to be able to put on a full performance without much vocal help or lip syncing, and that could be because the cultures of these places simply don’t accept mediocrity in the same way that America does, and I would even go as far as to tie my conclusion also to the money aspect of performances. It’s possible to reduce pop musicians to a return in investment, and labels will do what they think will make them the most money, which I think ties into American vs. Non-American pop debate. Labels overseas probably funnel more money into making sure their performers can meet the expectations put on them whereas American labels probably funnel more money into the performance itself and the aesthetics of it to make the performer seem perfect, even if they’re far from it since they’re human and all. Of course, this is all theory, but I wouldn’t put anything past the labels behind these performers. All this to say, and with my first love of punk rock and metal, I too prefer non-lip synced performances over lip synced performances lol. TLDR: probably can’t solely blame musicians for lip-syncing if their labels invested more money in their brand than their general ability to sing.

My favourite album is whichever one they're currently working on, and over time their entire catalogue becomes a solid favourite. Like renovating different rooms; each one is special and unique, and then you take a step back once finished and realise the entire house is just.. beautiful~ ⚘

Right! It doesn't even matter what the lyrics were it would be one of the most epic things in music history. I was blessed to have a mom that let me grow up listening to artists that made real music. I've had it in my head for a while of them doing a music video and Florence is like her daughter or something. Florence is the only modern music artist that has the talent to pass on Stevie's torch.
