I really think that people loving this song are the ‘yellow umbrella ’ we all have been looking for, what are the odds that we all here are listening to this song on a loop for the 100th time and that too on the first day of its discovery to us and crying our hearts out alone and recognising how much more strong we all can be, we have survived alot just some more of it won't defeat us. TRUE STORY: I was in human trafficking as a young teen in the Midwest when I first heard this song and It pushed me to stay strong and survive. I use to lie awake every night listening to it knowing I would one day eventually get out of it, if I kept pushing and continued to see the light at the end of that dark dark tunnel. 5 years later I’m 18 and the men who sexually abused me are in prison, my family is united and better than ever, and I’m safe and healthy! When I get down I reflect back on this song and what it means to me. Thank you Florence for creating a song so meaningful for all of the listeners. I hope one day I can be the gift you were for me to someone else going through darkness. GOD BLESS YOU ❤️

This song means more to me than anyone will ever know. Thank u for making it. I was a heroin addict for many years, I finally got clean ( and still am) . This last time around I was in bad head space, only few weeks clean, n feeling hopeless . This song came on radio and I got goosebumps over my entire body & cried like a baby. That was 3 yrs ago. It's funny. I heard this song when I was in like high school. I used to sing along to it, all happy-go-lucky, not paying much attention to the actual meaning of the song. I was listening to it just now, with a huge smile on my face. Then out of nowhere, I just broke into tears. Just a total flood of tears. Why? Well, ever since I entered college, my life just took a total 180. I am suffering with many different mental health issues. When you're sad for so long, you become filled with anger and guilt. And I am totally wasting my younger years, grieving that I am growing up, and not even enjoying anything while it's still here. I feel so stuck in my sorrow, but I do remember years ago, when I was happy. I remember I saw the world in a brighter way. Now, I am starting to see that I am actually growing, and I can feel happiness around the corner. I just need to fight for my future self. I need to put in the work to healing and forgiving myself. I have to let go of the past. The song hit me hard now. It speaks to my soul. It is everything I feel. It's like Florence is trying to say "It's ok. Me too... It's going to be okay."

True story: This song means so much to me. When I began struggling with OCD, social anxiety and coming to terms with the fact I was gay while attending middle school in the deep south, this song came out. It was perfect timing, I was going through it and this song carried me through. I've listened to this song probably a thousand times at least. I used to listen to it every single morning before school. I still get chills listening to it. I came out to my mom drunk in London last summer and she took it so well and just made me promise if I met a man I would introduce him to her. It was so liberating. Fast forward a few months... So I was in Tijuana Mexico at this bar really drunk and paid the guy controlling the music $4 to play this song. Everybody there was surprised because it was so different than the music that had been playing (in Spanish). I just started dancing alongside everyone, and it was really this moment of release of pent up emotions and acceptance. This will always be my theme song. Thank you, Florence.

My ex partner broke up with me via text during an athletic competition I had qualified for as a mean of 1 final dig at me. I had just finished my warms ups, saw the message, and had 10 minutes before I was to compete. This song came on the radio as a "hot new release" and it was like Florence understood everything I was feeling in that very moment. I shook it out, shook them off, nailed the comp, and have never looked back.

During the last few months of my cancer treatments, I got so down. I felt like I'd never get through radiation and reconstruction. My mom kept telling me, "It's always darkest before the dawn." And of course, this song came to mind. It was really true, it got so dark by the end of the treatments, but today I'm healthy and happier. For me it did get better, but I'm also thankful that I had people to reach out to and encourage me. On a side note, I love that this song was in How I Met Your Mother! Yellow umbrellas galore!

I just finished watching Season 07, Episode 17 of How I Met Your Mother, and man, I just had to search for this song! This was one of the saddest episodes but also one of the most pivotal moments in the show. We don't always get to hear 'Yes' and 'I Love You' but there's beauty in facing the truth and conquering fear. I hope everyone here gets a friend like Marshall in their lifetime.

I feel this song best describes eating disorder recovery for me. I decided to attempt to eat again when I joined the highschool musical "In the Heights," as a dance. When I wouldn't eat, I would nearly pass out at rehearsals. "It's hard to dance with the devil on your back, so shake him off."

My favorite thing in How I Met Your Mother was when Ted Mosby said that in some crazy way, he was happy. For the first time in years, there was no little part of him clinging to the dream of being with Robin. Which meant for the first time in years , the world was wide open.
