This lunacy will never end as long as investors are allowed to drive up the residential market, and wages remain low while corporate profits skyrocket.
Yup. Endless sprawl and strip malls is boring.. The red tides every year and mass fish kills vastly depleted fisheries. Reefs are bleaching. And my condo property insurances cost me 3X more than my Gold Coast home. Manners are another matter in Floriduh. It's a free for all and during covid19 people threw what few manners they p9ssessed out the window.
@@Patrick-yh5ydus natives could care less about being near the ocean. It all gets old after a while. People living by the ocean is why we have insurance issues
If everyone is moving to Florida, it SHOULD drive all the poor people out. The question is - if all the poor are out of Florida, who's going to clean your house?
@pwu8194 The number one Group of People exiting Florida is Boomers . Basically this means Retirees who can no longer afford to live there . Sadly Gentrification has become a real thing in Certain area's such as Tampa , Orlando and Miami .
@@GW-gz8jh Florida depends on transplants to grow its economy. Florida has a low quality education system that doesn’t produce enough knowledgeable professionals to meet the needs of the new companies that are expanding here.

Why should they. Seniors had a lifetime to make and save money to afford retirement. What about rent control for 18 year olds that are just starting out in the world.
@@AnAmericanGirl4Sureit’s called budgeting and living below your means. We need affordable housing for younger generations not older who don’t contribute anymore just consume.
Population growth has already slowed and there is an excess housing inventory. The middle class is the fastest shrinking demographic. We are returning to the historic status quo of 99% abject poverty and 1% wealth.
Yep!!! ... I told you so 😂😂😂 Stop inviting people to Fl , we are the free state , no mask here , carry your gun anywhere ... he was telling everyone during covid . 😂😂😂😂 He cut everyone short , we told them ... dont cut the $600 a week short , it need to stay for longer . People will be homeless , Landlords want their money or they will jack rents up . But noooo !!! ... he pocketed the cash and ended up with $45 billions in surplus . 😂😂😂
How are we free when Desantis has passed 400 plus laws in the last 18 months? If there is something he personally doesn't like, he just outlaws it? We are now a police state, he has his own militia, he says. We are far from free. Ohio is much more free and it IS a police state.
I don’t feel sorry for Florida at all, that’s your governor Governor DeSantis, inviting everybody to your state come on down to Florida,, I’m so happy yeah, go to Florida so my state housing can be cheaper..😊
from what money? oh wait they have to increase the price of goods and services to increase paychecks ... guess many dont know how their employers make payroll they assume everyone is Jeff Bezos..
i’m glad, I live in a small little Stow bird, quaint town, in Florida, in the summertime there’s only about maybe 3000 people that live here, in the winter time it probably just doubles. I love it. I’m blind, and I can navigate my way very easily to the stores, the post office, it’s truly a wonderful place to live. I’m not going to say the name of the town. It might give people ideas. Lol.
Yes, never say the name if you don’t want it to change. The devil has ears. They advertise NC to the teeth and now it’s becoming more and more a hell with all the crimes and trashy people.

The ongoing mass exodus into the State of Florida has permanently changed the States Housing Market . And not in a good way . Home prices will most likely stay forever elevated in most area's of Florida as the inbound migration shows no signs of slowing anytime soon .
There are channels on RU-vid where the men are running around saying Florida home prices are crashing. One clown walks around construction sites on the weekened and then claims the builders are losing abandoning the properties. His channel is "Reventure". Look at that clown's channel and you will see every video he puts up says the housing market is collapsing.
Trillion dollar equity firms buying any home available Then being one the 3 of the biggest FEMA money pit states FL, CA, TX. The ageing condos are too expensive to maintain. But being the 3rd largest population, more are impacted by hurricanes. No Insurance company wants to keep paying out more insurance claims every year.
I am praying for that. We had our place flooded last night, we are in Zone D/E for floods. There were cars floating here. I have no idea what we will do.
The DeSantis affect we went from one of the most affordable MAIN states in the country to the least affordable in about 5 years I've never seen anything like this in my life yes property values are up so are property taxes and homeowners insurance so many insurance companies left the state it's almost impossible to get insured unless you renovate you home the DeSantis era has been extremely stressful for the lower income people which a large percentage of Floridians 😢
@@GW-gz8jh Are you kidding me? We saw a rent increase of 20 to 44% statewide from 2020 to 2021. I don't think that has happened any where in America. Housing is supposed to increase by 2 to 5% I'm not sure how much that affects the rents. I think we can all agree that's a little extreme. If you think I'm just pulling statistics out my ears look it up yourself.
Jermie -- Umm.. It's the COVID affect Not the DeSantis affect !! Geez, Look at your own statistics. Covid put FL in the spotlight for everyone to see how it's better than wherever they were living... then simple "supply & demand" takes over... Nothing to do with DeSantis other than people from other states "discovered" him & decided they liked him better ...
In Florida you won't be forced to buy an unaffordable electric car unlike in Democrat states, which would mean you will either have to walk or hitch hike, since most medium to lower income people could never afford one.
A lot of cities have thought about this idea, but it usually doesn’t seem to pan out nor make sense. Office buildings were not designed for living so it is a costly conversion. And the buildings are often in less desirable, desolate business districts.
In May 2024, there were 200,225 homes for sale in Florida, up 69.9 % year over year. Despite a US housing shortage, Florida and Texas have too much supply, Redfin found. According to Zillow, home price appreciation is expected to slow down significantly in the coming years. After years of a scorching hot housing market, a new report from Redfin labels the Tampa region as one of the fastest-cooling housing markets in the country.
Who will clean these rich people’s houses? Cook their fast food or dine in dinners, cut their grass, change the oil in their cars, have their boat docks tended, etc? The people who do these jobs have to have affordable housing in order to live and raise their own families. It’s very simple.
That was yesterday’s news. Now it’s expanded to vital community functions not just the luxuries. We need functioning fire departments, hospitals, schools, sanitation works, grocery stores, etc and those people are being out priced.
Our home insurance costs are going up too, subsidizing your rates in FL since Florida puts caps on its insurance rates hikes. Look it up. You are welcomed.
I remember back in high school the global warming scientists said Florida would be under water by 1994, then they changed it to 2010, and lastly 2020. Still waiting…lmao!!
It is going under. I've seen houses that were high and dry 30 years ago are now flooding every year. The sad thing is they are still insured and we all get stuck with the bill.
Got our house 4 years ago and we were still able to save money. Now everything went up, from property taxes, to home insurance.. used to pay 1900 now we are at $2500 excluding HOA. 🤬
Who can afford to live in Florida your homeowners insurance goes up 80 to 100% every year people on fixed incomes are losing their homes the governor should be ashamed of himself
Creating more affordable housing creates more poor people mentality. What we need is better education, so kids want to actually graduate and go to college or start small businesses, create, and innovate. Your goal shouldn't be to pay less but to afford more. Once you fix that, the market will adjust itself without a government intervention. What we have in US right now and actually in the world, is a failed Capitalism due to those in power being corrupted. When capitalism fails, it opens the door for Communists ideas that are just the beginning of the end. They only thing that will do is make everyone equal, yes, equally poor and miserable. Take it from someone born and raised in Communism. Please don't try to give me a lesson by changing the name. Socialism, Communism, Liberalism, Progressiveness...all same cancer, just different stages.
So you admit that capitalism fails, then you trash the alternatives. People have to have some kind of economic structure. They're not going to wait around for capitalism to become successful
Education is the answer.??? LOL. The U.S. spends more money on education than any other country and people are dumber than anywhere else in the world. Meanwhile capitalism is failing.
@jamesbrown9721 Here is the thing, Capitalism has been successful before, and it is successful today in many countries. Socialism has 100% failing rate. Socialism is not the alternative to nothing. It is dangerous and destroys countries.
Whoever provided these statistics is wrong.Hell, look how many open houses are available in Florida?Pre volcano ford insurance and h o a fees along with the high prices
The cost of living continues to skyrocket, while jobs are being outsourced to China, AI and robotics. The number of people living in poverty is about to explode.

People need to plan to own a home now or else it will be nearly impossible in the future. Also, I laughed when she said that Jesus would hold leaders accountable. No he wouldn't. You'd think a pastor would know that.
One spicy hurricane season will weed out the weak newcomers and reset the market. Insurance will still be a barrier but eventually this state is going to be totally rebuilt hurricane tuff and damages won't be so catastrophic. Not without population replacement or massive salary increases. A lot of people are going to be displaced. I'd like to see more investment and planning in the middle of the state away from the coastal cities where sea level, insurance and HOAs are OUT OF CONTROL. One way to make Florida more affordable and stimulate moving inland is to change zoning in rural area residential lots removing the minimum dwelling size. Additionally streamline and subsidize the owner builder process. Some counties have already done this. I love Florida, but I'd like to build a small house in small town inland and not put insurance on it.
