Join Catching Zzz's Outdoors as we take a Winter trip to Fort Myers and Sanibel Island in Florida for some intense inshore fishing on light tackle against aggressive Snook. Throughout the journey we catch a large variety of fish species including: Snook, Lizard Fish, Pompano, and Sheepshead. We show the audience some great secret fishing spots in Florida including: the Blind Pass, Estero Bay, and the New Pass in Lovers Key State Park, and how to easily access each them.Watch this video to experience and learn all the fishing tips, tricks, and secrets we learned along the way of fishing these warm waters in December of 2020. Learn what features and what conditions are the best for fishing including: How to determine the current and where large predatory fish are lurking. During our fishing adventures in Fort Myers and Sanibel, we go over different ways to rig and retrieve live shrimp, as well as use a bunch of different artificial lures include Al Gag, Hogy lures, and other jigs and paddle tails. All fish that were caught were safely released to grow bigger.

If you are a Sanibel local you just so happen to live in my most favorite spot in the world to visit and fish. I have traveled all over the world and seen some extravagant places but for me none of those places compare to Sanibel and Captiva Island. It is truly a special place and you are a very lucky person to call it home. I’ll take the Ding Darling and the inshore fishing and the surrounding nature preserve or Boca Grande just up the road over all the big cities I’ve ever traveled to. I e caught more tarpon around Sanibel and Captiva than I have Boca which is surprising. I will say the water at Boca is stunning though but the river flowing into the sound of Sanibel is the only reason the water isn’t a turquoise bluish color like Boca but I believe the nutrients coming from the river gives Sanibel a better fishery.

There are actually two islands: Sanibel and Captiva, so Blind Pass doesn't split Sanibel. Great video been fishing here since I was a kid

Very nice job on scouting out the locations. Glad you had fun in our local waters. Loosen the drag just a tad and tip up. Sometimes I use a slightly heavier floro-carbon leader. Keep checking for frays with those snook. Nice video, thanks!

Thanks for the advice, will definitely beef up the floro leader next time I visit as I lost a few to the full plate
@tylershaffer4287
@tylershaffer4287 3 года назад
I wpuld also like to add that theres another reason that changing the leader each time you get a fray is crucial not just because of it could break off but also because fish can see the fray in the leader as well (especially tarpon) and it will deter them from hiting

Blind Pass right there boy's the side he's fishing on used to be the Bay but a hurricane made the Bay and the Gulf of Mexico connect that place is crazy for fishing every kinda fish you can find in there that's saltwater minus a few. A lot of different Grouper, Snook, Tarpon, Spotted Sea Trout, Mackerel, Sharks, Redfish, Black Drum, Snapper, ect... The prices went up to go out there plus it costs money to park by the hour unless you know of a secret some of us know. It's a long drive from Fort Myers Beach just as bad coming from North Fort Myers or Cape Coral.

Awesome video. Blind Pass is great if you're prepared for that current ripping through. You can drag just a few split shot above a shrimp or jig a shrimp like you did at little carlos pass and do well there. FYI that fish at 15:06 was a Mojarra and the last one at 16:43 was a small jack crevalle. Great job!! 👍

When fishing bridges concentrate on the shadow line on the side the tide is coming from. The big snook hide in the shadow facing the incoming tide so they can snap up any bait that comes floating in. And remember where the shadow is on the surface of the water is different from where it is on the bottom where the fish are!

It would be much better if you would pick those snook up from in the water with wet hands rather than dragging them thru the rough sand stripping off al, their protective slim and further with your dry hands. If your gonna do C&R WHT not do it correctly so the fish have the best chance. Ripping their slim off is equiveto stripping a person of their immune system and making them build I back up again. All it takes is 2 seconds difference to do it correctly.
