In the first two months of 2021, there were over 400 manatee deaths. Most were starving to death and over half had high levels of glyphosate in the bodies.

This is heartbreaking. I lived in FL for 20 years and did not realize the Manatees were in such danger. I left FL in 2020 for NC. This needs to be told to everyone!

This infuriates me I'm so sad. Sadly I work at a farm and I couldn't believe it but they sprayed 500-gallon glyphosate right before they till up the ground before planting just like you said. This is so upsetting and this is so sad. You made a very wonderful video. Thank you for advocating for the manatees

The crazy thing is it is probably more environmentally friendly and more effective to just spray some gasoline and light the field on fire lol. The char from the weeds would improve the soil quality and the gas would get all burned off.

Find a new place to work, ASAP. There is a class action lawsuit currently against Bayer-Monsanto for non-hodgekins lymphoma caused by round-up (glyosophate). As someone fighting for their live against lymphoma, due to chemical poisoning, no paycheck is worth this.

Not just Florida. US as a whole. If glyphosate was banned now it'd take 50 years to get out of the water system. It's so bad now that rainwater carries glyphosate. The sugar farms in Florida are the worst offenders. Not only do they produce a crop that most of America doesn't need, they do it with these chemicals, and they damaged the water system by rerouting water that typically was filtered in the Everglades. I say sugar farms in Florida should be banned.

It is not antiquated farming that causes dead aquatic plants! It is modern GMO Round Up ready farming and DELIBERATE AQUATIC PLANT ERADICATION with non biodegradable herbicide toxin sprays on the natural areas due to CORRUPTION by Monsanto and it's subsidiary companies by other names.

Those people do not care about wildlife, unless they are hunting it. Scares me to consider the numerous assaults upon Manatees. When that California college found out that glyphosate causes focal patches on the temporal lobes of humans and animals (which is the key feature of autism), the company began the process of selling of the company. And still, so few have digested the fact that the evidence that the company's glyphosate causes autism is more established than evidence that cigarettes cause lung cancer.

Google Round-Up ready crops like corn, soybeans, canola, and wheat is under development. If you're using a by product of these crops like corn oil, canola oil, soybean product's etc... you're more than likely ingesting the round-up gene that was in these crops. Byproducts of these crops are many household uses today. No testing has been done as to what happens when humans ingest Round-up ready foods. Don't forget that the meat you eat is usually being fed the very round-up ready crops as well. Do your homework, do the research and be an informed consumer.

You can't convince me this isn't some planned business strategy, it's to downright logical. Make the poison, make sure the pesticides/herbicides are the only reliable way to grow food, poison all the agriculture and land, make monsanto style resistant variants that only you have that don't grow past a few generations so farmers must buy from you. boom you basically are in the business of printing money like the fed... humanity really has no place in our new plutocratic dystopia

They spray the grain fields and the hayfields just before cutting it so it dies immediately and dries faster( topping). They spray almost all pastures now with broadleaf herbicide toxins so that only grass will grow in the pasture.They spray WHILE THE CATTLE ARE GRAZING and the cattle ingest it. There are no bidegradable herbicide toxins made by the chemical toxin cartel. Their herbicides ride through the digestive system in the manure. Manure from these new pastures and hayfields kills your garden after composting! Many youtube gardening channels have experienced this! There is a 300 mile dead zone in Louisiana's Gulf of Mexico region and it is because the runoff from the herbicide toxin has killed all the oxygen producing phytoplankton plants. These microscopic plants are the plants that make most of our oxygen (the other 30% are terrestrial plants). These microscopic plants are the only thing coral reefs eat and the only thing plankton eat but most of all the only way we can get OXYGEN. There is only carbon dioxide in the dead zones. They are hypoxic and stagnated and spraying aquatic plants is the straw that broke the camel's back.

Maybe remove all the grass surrounding the farm plots then plant clover. Covering the outskirts of the farm plots would hopefully block grass growth. Clover is low growing so maybe for many crops if it creeps into the field it won't cause an issue because the crops are taller and would prevent a lot of it's growth. Clover also is nitrogen fixing which improves soil quality.

Videos like these are misleading, it isn't so black and white. But there is some objectionable content sure. Many plants they spray for Aren't native and if unmanaged would clog up whole waterways as they have done in the past. Glyphosate doesn't have acute (fast acting) harmful effects to animals, only to plants. The chemicals they use are aquatic approved by the state (break down in water).... But yes, they could if they wanted to be much more environmentally friendly, they would more often mechanically harvest and remove the excess plants with heavy machinery. They claim "it's too expensive" but I'm not so sure. My gut feeling is there's gov contracts to chemical suppliers, who are clearly profiting from these arrangements, and no doubt give discounts for buying in bulk. In an ideal world, spraying for invasive weeds harmful to the environment that rapidly grow in FL would be Only 1 tool in the plant management toolbox, NOT the "Only way to control weeds". Also harmful pollutants from excess development/ etc urban stormwater and septic runoff is probably killing seagrasses. Glyphosate isn't effective at all for killing plants entirely in the water (I use to have a couple jobs spraying mostly with that)

No farmer intentionally sprays chemical into waterways, it's too expensive to do that. But the perfectly manicured lawns, golf courses, playgrounds and lane dividers are only perfect due to regular chemical applications. Most states now require buffer strips of 100 ft between a farmers fields and a waterway specifically to prevent contamination of the waterways. I'm not sure what the law is in Florida, but it seems you need to fix your laws and quit blaming other people for your poor agriculture practices. Spraying grass in lakes? We don't do that in Wisconsin we like our fish, tourists and clean water.
@semperfi6801
@semperfi6801 3 года назад
Florida is huge on chemical spraying unfortunately. I have a best friend and their family fly crop dusting planes. He said they spray just about everything with chemicals. From acres of blueberries to corn, peppers and tomatoes. When you're crops planted are round-up ready you can spray and kill everything but the crop plant. Then animals and humans ingest that very product. Monsanto is now Bayer. If you see a green Florida lawn with no weeds then it's been sprayed with chemicals. A lot of the wealthier neighborhoods you'll never see a weed or invasive plant as groundskeepers spay million's of chemicals on lawns, golf courses and around waterways to keep the weed and grasses down.

All these chemicals run off into the waterways. Most agricultural land today has terrible problems with water infiltration, and rainfall just wash soil and all these chemicals down into our rivers eventually. So 100 feet away is putting lipstick on a pig. Glyphosate and its kin are abominations.
