The German restaurant was awesome when it was open. We ate there on it's last week before it closed a few years ago. The mobil has been closed for at least 3 years. That building painted changes all the time with new paintings. Gill Dawg has really good food. The Stop and play has been there for like 40 years. Don't eat the food there 🙂. One of our first videos was Hudson beach lol. You really captured the essence of West Pasco. Great job!
Great job Jay! Brings back memories. Although living in NY I used to spend every Summer as a kid down that way. Stop N Play was one of our spots back in the 80’s. If you do another video more north into Springhill/Weeki Wachee the scenery is a little newer. There’s the famous Harolds Auto Body Dinosaur building and of course Weeki Wachee Springs/Buccaneer Bay 50’s roadside spot. You can end on SR50 turn left and go to Pine Island Rd for a visit to Pine Island Beach & Willy’s Beach Bar. Lots of stilt homes on the way in too. Keep ‘em coming!
I ❤️ old Florida as I was born here & live here again for a few years & I started to like your channel when you showed us Rocky Locations & Florida Road side attractions I ❤️.Thanks Jay & Have a good weekend!
Love Old Fla. Miss just Riding with my husband who is now passed, what goo times we had ,getting out and exploring sure do miss them day's. THANKS for sharing ☺️
Yeah we love this kind of stuff! As Floridians it seems like we see more and more things along the back roads close year by year! We love Hudson! Lots of great eateries including Sams! Thanks for sharing!
Oh wow! I remember this motel. I’m so glad to see it’s still in great condition, open and busy. That German restaurant was an all you can eat southern buffet when I was a kid. My grandparents house was off of Darlington on Roselawn. You’re bringing tears to my eyes Jay. Thank you for posting this video.
I drive up and down 19 all the time, always fun to see some of the things I don’t normally have time to see. Thanks for another great video Jay, your videos are awesome.
The German Restaurant was a great place to eat. I know two ladies ran the place. They closed it not due to a lack of business, but due to getting older.
Thank you Jay for touring where I grew up. I remember when that gas station was open. That Congo is where I had my first date to the woman who is now my wife of 3 years.
I agree with you Donna, I've grew up and lived in Tampa for almost 50 years since I was a kid! And I remember driving over thirty years ago up U.S. 19 all the way to where Weekie Wachi it's at which probably now it's close due to the Coronavirus! And I remember throughout the years driving and you would one business next to other that was open even around Spring Hill, New Port Richey and up U.S.19 and down as well! And with everything that's going up is sad to see all this old memories being closed down, I ne after the other. Including bowling alleys, diners, Mom and Pop restaurants, gamerooms drive ins , which I moved to Tampa, Florida there was more than five and now there's only one open which I'm not sure if it's showing movies anymore! Like I said I miss all those places that from I saw in this video there very few places open. Especially diners, asbbig as Tampa is the only place that have a diner is in the malls which is Johnny Rockets, and in Brandon there were some which I'm even sure if they're still open. And sadly everytime I go online about all the restaurants and big box stores that are going out of business this year due to poor sales, there'll be more empty buildings in the future! Including Steak n' Shake restaurants that those of you that remember back more thirty five years ago you'll park outside and an person would come in roller skates to take your order and bring your food! Like Sonic did as well back here in Tampa when they first open the franchise here in Tampa! Call me nostolgic but I miss those days when there where places to go to a diner, bowling alley with arcade games, Mom and Pop restaurants and much more. Which in a few more years they'll probably be a thing of the past including shopping malls! ❤️ God bless us all in these pandemic times!
@@TampaJay anytime man. If you venture just a little further up 19 into spring hill, Weeki Wachee Area there is a really cool dinosaur car shop that has been there for quite some time. I believe it is called Harold's.
@@michealdionne5456 it use to be a Sinclair gas station. The dino used to green. That's where I take my car for service. Excellent place. Also, there's a smaller pink dinosaur on the same side of the road just before flammer Ford.
I enjoyed going down that stretch of road a few years back when we went from Weeki Wachee to Clearwater on our little staycation. I so wanted to stop and check out that arcade, but Time limitations didn't allow for it. It was so cool to see a old school Arbys sign when we passed through.
love the video jay but I hated living in Pasco county i lived there for ten years and I lived in Spring Hill For 8 months before moving to Savannah I am glad that i moved here i did not want live in NPR anymore
Most people would probably drive right by those places and not even think it's worth stopping but you have a way of finding something of interest in even the most unusual places. It's always a pleasure to ride along with your adventures Jay. Keep up the good work buddy! ☮😎
I lived in Port Richey for a bit. Right near the playground in New Port Richey there is a bridge with cement benches painted with murals. Its pretty cool not sure if its still there though that was 10 years ago. USA Flea Market was pretty cool too.
Lived right there in Holiday 15 years. Moved this last week out west. Over crowded area. US 19 crawls with prostitutes, and homeless from Alt 19 & US 19 light north all the way to Hudson.
I love us 19! Sucks a lot of the area in port Richey and Hudson is run down. The areas near tarpon and further down the road look so much better and well done! Wish you could take Adam on it and show him all of this! That gator buffet used to be a barnhills and mid 2000s and shut down as the gator buffet like 2014 I think
I moved from Michigan to Holiday in 2007-08. The Barnhill's had previously been a Ryan's Buffet as I understand. It had just become Barnhill's before I arrived. I left Holiday several years ago for Palm Harbor. Holiday was quickly becoming a run-down crime-infested area. I refer to Pasco County as Trashco County. Very unappealing in its present state. New Port Risky is not much better.
My neck of the woods. But further up in spring Hill. Be careful on 19 Jay, crazy drivers. A left on main Street NPR-new port Richey after the Cotee River Bridge is the Hacienda Hotel. Many famous celebrities stayed there including Gloria Swanson, Buster Keaton, Joseph Kennedy(JFK's father). Also, if you boat out of the channel by Nicks Park there are several stilt houses. Johnny Cash, many others stayed there. I have many videos of this area both land and water.
Thank you for the advice in the info Rick I’ve read about this hotel I heard that Charlie Chaplin stayed there too? I couldn’t confirm that tho. I’ve been meaning to vlog it myself.
So people are aware that place is infested with bed bugs and people on stuff they shouldn't be and I know this cause I have worked at two other hotels in this area.
