That fumble by Winston is one of my all time favorites. When he also slips it looks pretty funny too, like he hit a patch of ice in LA..lol The ref slipped on ice too!
Yes and there would been some FSU fans going to church more, instead of following football so much..lol They say college football is a close second to religion down there.
@@sonofrobert if FSU is bad Florida will still be good, if Florida is bad Miami will be decent, hell even UCF will be good, or then Florida high schools will be good, it’s not a religion everyone down here is just so good football is naturally recognized
The “Then-Head-Coach” for Oregon deserves to be remembered with admiration for his team’s “Well-Coached-Performance” in this game. He was later forced out of his job .
He ran the team into the ground. His only accomplishments came when he had an entire roster built by Chip. Helfrich was awful, but he got his bag, I guess.
@@tre_4 No, they were 2 of the highest recruits ever from the state of Oregon (same class I think). Both had insane promise and flashed crazy talent, but Tyner I believe had injury issues and Lyerla couldn't lay off the meth. Despite all the issues Lyerla had, GB still gave him a chance and gave him a decent amount of money at the time, but he got injured so he got cut and immediately went back to drugs. He's also been in and out of jail several times since.
As an FSU Fan, this was not a great season all the games that we won were very close including barely beating teams like Virginia, Boston college, Louisville, and Miami. Then, when we played an actual opponent, we got destroyed.
Don't know what's worse, Oregon beating FSU 59-20 in the Rose Bowl or Oregon allowing FSU to easily take Wille Taggart off their hands. FSU stays taking L's to Oregon.
@@davefransen9783 Yes, that guy was smoke and mirrors. He said Herbert wasn't a good leader. Ask Herbert's players about his leadership..lol He will kick but as a pro.
In all honesty, lets all thank Willie Taggart for coming to Oregon and then leaving Oregon for FSU, because without that, we would not have gotten Mario Cristobal and all the success we have had these last few years including this years Rosebowl win.
@@cadefoster6626 Yes, that really worked out. The Oregon Coaching Search Team could have found Mario. Taggart was smoke and mirrors and didn't have a big record of success. Mario had the Miami and Bama experience and that Florida team that he turned around with hardly any resources. I think Mario will stay in Eugene for a while since he has younger kids and it's family friendly in Eugene, except for the meth heads and homeless..lol Cheers and Ducks fans are very lucky to have Cristobal and watching him build a SEC team in the foo foo cake boy PAC 12 as SEC Guy use to call it..lol
This game showed how much trash FSU was that season. They were the luckiest undefeated team that season. Their luck ran out in this game and it was so beautiful seeing them make so many mistakes and playing a team that made them pay for their mistakes.
I remember watching this and feeling bad for Cook. He just had a rough game on the biggest stage. FSU also just looked out of sink (the with the fall starts and the delay of games).
Even if there wasn’t any fumbles they would have still lost with maybe a closer loss because Oregon entire Performance offensively and defensively was impressive
Oregon ended up embarassing FSU but this was a pretty good game for 3 and 2 and half quarters. Cook was eating in the first, you can see how Elliot and the tOSU offensive line could have some success against Oregon on the ground
PFlaw317 - The thing about that game is that Oregon was missing three of its starters on offense two of their WR and One of their RBs and their best CB plus the receivers dropped two TD passes and a couple first downs. Mariota was almost a one man team. They should of been up 28 to 0 in the first half.
Midway through the third quarter, there was a third down in really long after a sack.... after a scramble, FSU was credited for a long catch with a ... When it was absolutely clear that his feet came down out of bounds. I don't even know how All of the officials missed that! It extended the drive to give them seven points. Were they not even checking replace back then?
Florida State really beat themselves more than anything in this game. A lot of missed holding calls on Oregon didn't help but literally everything went wrong more than everything went right by Oregon. It's gotta be the coaching for that many mental lapses
13:30 I don't know if there was ever a more obvious holding not called then right there on number 44 LMFAO. He made 3 different moves and got held on on 3 of them 😂😂😂
The Ohio State quarterback I forgot his name but he did the exact same fumble as Jameis Winston did in the championship game but unfortunately the ducks lost that game
I was in the end zone on that play--seeing Winston go down and Tony Washington pick that thing up and run right at us was amazing. We were in the ducks section and it was absolute mayhem--that was the dagger!
FSU fan post before the game: "OU is a good team and Mariotta seems like a fine young man and a pretty good running QB who is a good fit for the gimmicky system they run at OU. But the quackers and their delusional fans have no idea of the buzz saw they are about to encounter...I expect the Noles to have this game in hand near the end of the 3rd quarter and the Noles will pull away easily in the 4th. The ass kicking FSU is about to give OU will give them some real valid reasons for "why they should hate Florida State."" Well, THAT didn't age too well, did it?
@@337-q2c Yeah, it'd be like me calling Florida State "UF" or somesuch. Florida State might have fared better had they played Oklahoma. Marcus and crew, with their "gimmicky system', decimated the Noles. I've been seeing that whole "gimmicky system" crap since at least 2000, when Joey Harrington and said "gimmicky system" defeated Texas in the Holiday Bowl. Gimmicky or not, isn't it kinda sorta up to the other team's defense to stop it? Just a thought.
I was in San Diego for the UO v UT Holiday Bowl. Not so "gimmicky" back then. My original comment was simply referring to UO (Oregon) as opposed to OU (Oklahoma).
Fluke game we lost a lot from the year before. We got what we deserved though this game I’ll admit bcuz we skated by a bunch of close games that season! Good win for the Ducks. #GoNolesAlways🍢
Florida State managed to score only 20 points and you're acting like Oregon's defense had no chance against them. You're nuts if you really believe that. Oregon scored on Florida State's defense at will that game (way easier than Florida State was able to do against the Oregon defense).
Gotta love how Florida State left the field without shaking hands with the Ducks. That's real sportsmanship right there. Just like my friend who insists it was bad officiating that led to the Ducks crushing the Florida State [Racist Native American Reference]'s like the pathetic little girls they were. It's easy to create a win streak when your league is the weakest in the nation and you never face anyone outside your conference you don't pay to play.
Ur a complete idiot 😂😂😂😂😂 the seminoles are a 100x better program than some little liberal school in Oregon. Oregon players made fun of Jameis Winston after the game by saying “No means No” even tho he was proven innocent by 3 different courts and the girl admitted she lied. Fsu won the national championship the year before this and still outplayed Oregon just too many turnovers. You are so dumb lmao
Jaret Kidd Because you barely won all your games in 2014. Be glad, cause if you were #1 you'd have to play Ohio State and that would be an even bigger murder.
Backdoor Bubba Brown yeah both teams were overrated in my opinion lol. Oregon goes on to the championship and gets gifted 4 fumbles again and still lose 42-20 LMFAO. You put any other playoff team in the college football playoff era and I mean ANY against either of these teams and both would lose to almost all of them the way they looked in the playoffs. This includes the 2 big ten teams who got shut out in the playoffs too. They both would give these teams hell. Don't even get me started on bama and Clemson lol. They would embarrass these teams. The committee has gotten it right since then though... Cause lord knows Baylor and TCU was better than this shit show right here
Tj Adams TCU or Baylor was not better then Oregon, Oregon wasn’t Overrated. You can call this an excuse if you want it’s still true, As Chip Kelly left Oregon’s OL and D got weaker and Ohio State read our plays easily because Chip Kelly gave Urban Meyer Oregon’s Offensive playbook in 2011. All of that caused 42-20 even 4 turnovers.
Backdoor Bubba Brown Florida State obviously didn’t deserve it, but I think Oregon deserved like the 4 or something TCU should’ve been the 3 with Bama and OSU 1 and 2.
This wasn’t nearly the same Fsu team that won the 2013 title. No telvin Smith, no Jernigan, no freeman, no Joyner, etc. Tgat was the best team in college history
Yawls conference was so trash that year even the year before Oregon’s conference was much more tougher then y’all conference if Oregon would have played them the year prior Oregon would’ve spanked y’all that game as well but too bad they did not
Yet Oregon (3.9 million residents) has 31 total National D1 titles (14th in the country)........Florida State (FL population topped 20 million) has 17. Take a few minutes to chew on these numbers while I watch my Ducks kick the living crap out of your Holes.
They could have scored a hundred and fifty. Oregon's high powered offense combined with the best quarterback they have ever had, exposed the FSU defense, which had been barely holding on for most of the season. And Jimbo kept that guy in charge of the defense for three more years....
WTH are you talking about Jeremy Pruitt was only there for 2 years before he went to bama he was a great D coordinator the defense wasn’t the problem that year
I think this was the peak hurry up offense effect, with the best QB to be running a spread system and speed everywhere, it made really good teams look really bad after they wear down defenses and then play mind games with tired DBs having to make tackles on the outside. FSU was the National Champs the year before for a reason, they just walked into a hornets nest against a team that was performing at peak offensive efficiency, and a defense that was always trying to prove themselves to make big plays too.
@@cosmo1eleven855beaverton’s pretty close. and plus, nike’s cofounder phil knight was a UO grad and contributed to a lot of sports/university things here like the arena and such. lots of legacy at UO
@Stephen Fields: RIP Florida State. So...you gonna try and tell me my team is ringless too? :) Cherish those measly 3 rings you have CRIMINOLES. Call me when you get around 7 hahaha
