Florida winter camping comes in many flavors and styles. Like millions of other RVers we sought to escape the cold and lay in the sunshine in Florida. If you’re camping near Jacksonville and can luck into an open spot, Little Talbot Island State Park is one you’ll certainly love at first site... we did! It’s a small, sandy-road rustic campground that makes beach camping or being on the river something you can enjoy. We camped here in our van, a Winnebago Travato and we fit nicely but be warned many of the sites will be pretty tight for bigger rigs.

We truly enjoyed this video . . . but we really enjoy all your videos, you guys are awesome together. We like all the info you give out about the campgrounds. I love photography, and I like how you always get pictures of the wild. Lynn, lol! . . . about the restaurant, because I have the same problem, he never gets my hints and if I spell it out for him he say "Oh but your cooking is so much better". Owen i love the music you play in the videos. We loved how Maggie stay at the edge of the Kayak. Hope to meet you guys some day! Have fun!!!

Thank you so much for the kind comment. We love wildlife so that is probably why we show so much of it, we appreciate you letting us know that you like it. We love finding really good places to eat but more times than not we usually like what we cook better. Maggie has spent a lot of time on a kayak fishing with Owen so she feels pretty comfortable.

Trout River Seafood as well as Sandollar Restaurant, both are on Heckscher drive headed to LTI from Jacksonville. Great food at both spots.

Bugs were worse this past winter than usual. Generally speaking you should have missed the major amount of them in January but not this year. I really appreciate your vids on Florida campgrounds. I knew that Little Talbot Is was outside of JAX but haven't bothered to see exactly where! I go to Fernandina Beach every other month for treatments but live in Georgia. Sand is a fact of life down here...better than snow/rain up north!!

We just missed you by a couple of weeks. Stayed at Little Talbot and Clinch. Two recommendations on eating, the San Dollar on A1A just toward Jax from Little T. and on Thursday night the grocery store Harris Teeters in Fernandina has prime rib to go for $11 per plate. Get there early though. The hike at Little T. up the beach and back through the dunes is well worth the bugs. Also watch some of the river side sites at Little T., at high tide and rain, they tend to hold water.

We've been to Florida many times but have never seen white Pelicans, didn't even know they existed! The footage of them lifting off was awesome! Maggie seems to thoroughly enjoy kyacking, so cute! Safe and fun traveling.

I am Binge watching your videos. We are considering getting out of upstate New York this winter(depending on COVID of course). We are big fans of state parks and your reviews have been very informative since we have not traveled in Florida as yet. I saw your doggie laying in the sand. Any problem with sand fleas with her.

I don’t think Maggie has ever had sand fleas, she does have a flea collar but I really never thought about it. She loves the beach and sand. Florida has wonderful State Parks.

Those tides can really make it difficult to kayak. My husband and I were in Cabo and I thought we'd never make it back to shore but we were young and finally made it. I love the clam, it looks so easy to set up.

Enjoyed the video and sure envy you folks in your travels and adventures. Thank you for the “virtual” ride-along. Since I retired, I’ve found the true meaning of “retirement” is when you quit your job and go to work for your wife working on that never-ending “honey-do” list …the projects that have accumulated around the house over the years prior to retiring. I find your campsite “likes and dislikes” to be very informative and a great addition to your videos. Could you also comment on any existing available campground facilities such as toilets and showers. Thank you all again!

Maggie loves being on the water. We have found that most places that rent kayaks want let you take your dog. So we were really glad we could take her. That was the first time we had ever seen or heard of white pelicans, it was spectaular for sure. Thanks for watching.

What a Beautiful experience. That external Cooktop is a great idea the more we see you using it. Then I could cook bacon nonstop without it smelling up the van lol! Thank you. Those Live Oak tree's block a lot of your phone signals. Lots of peeps don't know that when they come here. It was a real smart move buying the no-see-um clam. It is a must down here.I am on my 2nd one and I went bigger (6 sided) I wish I didn't it because it is hard getting it on my roof. I am a 56 yr old woman, but I get it. I hope you didn't hurt yourself too bad. Great video and I loved the shadow wave on the water. Pretty cool idea.

You are correct the trees do bock a lot the cell phone and a lot of the single depends on how much coverage there is. We have loved the clam room, we have been fairly lucky with the bugs so far. We appreciate you watching and commenting.

I really love your videos. So beautiful - those shots of the pelicans were amazing. I lived 2 blocks from the beach for over a year but never saw that many take off at once. Your videos keep getting better and better- can’t wait till the next one! We decided to get a Maggie sized dog when we get our first RV.!!!!

We are planning a trip to Ga and wanted a campground near Black Rock Beach, and your video popped up. We’re trying to find campgrounds close to things we want to see in Florida , since the chances of getting into Florida are getting slimmer with the new law. We just traded for a larger camper and definitely won’t fit in this pretty campground, but we really enjoyed your video. Thinking Crooked River State Park might work for us.

would recommend a come-along, straps, and an anchoring system in case you do get stuck, then you can self rescue from the back or front.

What we were cooking is call Egg Roll in a bowl, there are a lot of recipes out there, but I tend to put what ever I have that I think would work. It is really tasty and a great one pot meal. We appreciate you watching and asking the question.

Just down the street from Fort Clinch ... you didn't go far 😄 Watch out for the malfuctioning power posts at Little Talbot Island; it's a dated/obsolete electrical system. Have you guys tried nearby Hanna Park campground? ... a city campground (Jacksonville).

Not looking to be a buzz-kill but watched your video last night and even before it happened I remarked to my wife that you were getting to close to the White Pelicans and they were going to flush. Of course I was not there and cannot be 100% sure your actions contributed to their departure, but having been around numerous bird species including the White Pelicans in my kayak and boat observing them and photographing (600mm lens with teleconverter) them, the shot from your kayak looked to be taken to close to the birds. You also see in the video a few taking off as you approach (you first indicator that you were stressing the birds) and then as you got closer, the entire group flew. As Floridians, we stay in a lot of the Florida State Park campgrounds. At Little Talbot a few months back and the campground mosquitoes where terrible; be glad you were not there then.

I want to say thank you for your comment and your concern. We always try to be very aware of disturbing any kind of wildlife and being respectful of their space. That being said we moved Maggie to my kayak and Owen inched closer, he did have a zoom lens and we probably sat in that spot for an hour before they flew off. It did seem we may have flushed them but I promise you that we tried really hard not to do that and we would never do that just to get a shot. It had gotten very shallow and maybe Owen’s boat scrapped the bottom or something, as it’s hard to control the boat and the camera at the same time but it by no means was intentional .
