A side-by -side comparison of linen and aida dyed fabric. Dimension of linen 18" x 18" and aida 15" x 22". Thanks for stopping by to watch me play with fabrics and dyes. Happy Stitching!
This video is so peaceful and relaxing. I know it's about dying cloth and such, but in a fast-paced world that constantly overloads us with stimuli, a slow-paced video with a kind voice talking about something calm such as this can have a lulling effect of sorts when sleep is hard to find.
You are so generous! Loved all these tutorials. Did my first rit dye today!!!! Loved it. Thanks again for the chance to get a gorgeous piece of fabric!
dyeing was great! Made some ugly baby pink fabric into a great dark grey/plum color and some yucky tan into a sable grey halloweeny color. Thanks again! amy
I would be interested in one of your pieces. I think both turned out wonderful. I have been thinking of attempting to dye some fabric and your videos are so helpful thank you so much for taking the time to make them.
Loved this video. No fear! Experiments are fun fun fun! I would have loved to work on the linen fabric you dyed . Also I wonder for the Aida instead of dabbing the second color on. Why not use your little spritzer and spritz the color on. May spread out nicer. Just a thought. Thank you for your time in making these videos
Thanks Vanessa! I have done it before with the spray bottle and it does turn out a bit different. It's all a gamble but so fun to try lots of different ways! Happy Stitching, Suzette x
Finally caught up on your tutorials. They are great and very interesting to see that no two pieces will ever be the same. Please enter me into your drawing. Thank you.
Amazing outcome. I really like the Aida also. I think I preferred the linen before the last dye bath. Hope you got some much needed rest after that long day. Thanks for sharing.
I'm loving your dye videos!! I'm in a serious dye crazy phase right now. Could you link to the walnut dye you use? I love that you can use the granules and still get a true color! And yes please on the giveaway (:
Thanks so much for watching my videos SleepKittyStitches! I actually ended up finding them at 123 Stitch for less than Joanns or Amazon. www.123stitch.com/item/Tsukineko-Walnut-Crystals-2-oz-Jar/WI-INK-001 Happy Dyeing and Good luck in the Giveaway, Suzette x
I've only RIT dyed Aida so it's amazing to me how different the linen and Aida turned out. I've heard they come out differently but not seen it so this really puts it into perspective for me. Please enter me for the linen...thank you!
Another fascinating video!! Dyeing is such an interesting process. I can't believe how differently the fabrics react, although I've heard that so many time. Either way, they are both beautiful and perfect for prim stitching! I love to be entered in the giveaway. Thanks! 😊
Thank you Nell for watching and commenting. I too was interested to see the difference...must be Science that is beyond my understanding! :) You are entered! Good luck, Suzette x
Thank you so much for all of your dyeing tutorials. Loved watching them. Would love to stitch on either of these pieces. Please enter me for the draw. Thanks :)
Thank you for doing these videos I can't wait to give it a go myself. I love how you have layered the colours. I think both fabrics look amazing. I would love to be entered please.
I love all these dying videos!! You've really got some great techniques that I'm definitely going to use the next time I dye. Please enter me in your giveaway. Thank you :)
HI, thanks for visiting my channel! They are called Walnut Ink Crystals and are made by Tsukineko. I've seen them on Amazon, Joann Fabrics and I think even 123 Stitch. I hope this helps.
Hi Doreen! That is a fantastic idea! I even have a sea sponge around here somewhere. I'm going to give it a try the next time I dye fabric. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Happy Stitching!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are so informative and helpful to anyone considering giving it a try. I would love to have a chance at the linen.
Another great video (stuck through all three ;-). Please enter me for the giveaway. What do you feel is the difference between walnut ink crystals and say a dk brown rit dye?
Thanks for sticking it out with meTraci! I think you get a more random and prim look with the Walnut Ink than with the dark brown Rit. I do like to use both though. I have entered you into this giveaway. Good luck, Suzette x
Great tutorials! Just watched all of them. Love your videos. I use to hate wearing gloves for anything too until I ordered a box that actually fit my hands. So much easier to work with.
Thanks Janet! I really need to do the same! My son bought me a box and he must think I have huge hands! Lol Hope you are having a great stitching month! Suzette x
Another very interesting tutorial, thank you. What a difference in colour between the aida and linen :) both lovely. Please enter me for the giveaway thank you :)
thank you for a very informative tutorial, you show so many different ways to do this and how it is an artistic endeavor. I'd love to be entered for the linen.
Hi Amanda, Thanks for visiting and commenting. You certainly could use a hair dryer to heat set your project but what I am using is a heat gun. It's a crafting heat gun made by Ranger called HEAT IT. It produces heat that would be too hot to use on hair. Thanks again, Suzette
Thank you for sharing. Midway through I preferred the linen piece but at the end I thought the Aida was better. You never know how they're going to turn out, plus they are darker, all very exciting. I must have a go soon. Thanks again for your time x
Oh my gosh - I love your dyeing tutorials! I'm so excited to dye some stuff! You make it looks so easy! And yeah... duh... I'd love a chance to win either piece! Stranger Things... my 14yo son texted me from his dads house at like midnight... "MOM! GO WATCH STRANGER THINGS! RIGHT NOW!" I think he watched an entire season in one day! I asked him if it was like the X-Files and he said, "Mom, I don't know what that is..." Poor kiddo. Now, off to watch your Prim Trim video! ;)
Thanks Trisha! I enjoyed seeing all of your dyeing tutorials as well! Have you watched Stranger Things yet? I LOVED it and hope that they come back with another season. You have to have your son watch X-Files. Seems a bit campy to me now but man, back in the day I couldn't get enough! Of course you are entered! Good luck, Suzette x
I know I’m a little late to the party, but thank you for the tutorial! I have been hand dying my own fabric, but I have no idea what I’m doing, I just wing it, so it’s hit and miss, so I’ll just try to change the pieces that didn’t turn out how I wanted! I love the walnut crystals, I’ve gotta give that a try!
Loved it, I like both of the fabrics and would love to stitch on the. A long day for you so thank you so much for doing this for us. It was very informative! 🙋🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗🙋🏼👏🏼
I've really been loving your dyeing videos, especially how you are doing them in "real time", even discovering for yourself the results for the first time as you go along, & showing all aspects of how the dyes can change something you thought might not turn out exactly how you wanted it into something that would suit another project perfectly. I think both pieces would be perfect for stitching a Halloween project. I'm getting antsy to try my tea dyeing soon. Looking forward to more of your dyeing videos in the future. 😊
Thanks Michelle! I always enjoy playing with the dyes because it can really surprise me at how they turn out. It was difficult at first because I had expectations of how it "should" turn out. More often than not, I am very happy with the end results, even if they aren't what I expected. Hope you get to play with the tea dyeing soon! Happy Stitching, Suzette x
