I don't want to go back to pre-pattern keeper days. I love it. So glad you found solutions that works for you to substitute that white back stitch.
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
No turning back now for me either. Thanks for your backstitching help!

OMG, you made me lol a ton, I love the “dopamine hit!!” I see you are a comedienne too! I’m a convert also. I still do some small projects the old way but get anxious to get back to PK very quickly. Great video as always….Stitch happy 😃
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Thank you Wendy! Isn't PK the best? Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave such a happy comment. I appreciate it!

Hi there Deb! Glad to hear you had a good visit to Amsterdam! Love your colorway for your Amsterdam piece! 🤩

When I stop stitching for the night (or whatever), I like to plan where I'll pick up again especially when stitching a pattern that's has only one or two colors. So I use the parking feature to highlight the stitch I plan to begin with. Right now I'm using bright pink as the parking color in a field of DMC310, When I picked up my project this afternoon, I knew exactly where I wanted to start stitching.

I haven't done a lot with parking. I know Pattern Keeper has a way of tracking them, but I don't like having a lot of threads hanging off my work. Too complicated for my brain. Thanks for the tip! --Deb

With Pattern Keeper, I like that you can change the colour of the stitches you have highlighted. That way the colour is never the same as the surrounding thread colours making them easier to see. Liked your review
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Thanks, Sandie! I haven't used the feature yet to change the highlight colours. Great idea! Thanks! -- Deb

I fell in love with PK immediately too. I have had a few problems with some PDFs not being compatible. On my last Long Dog Sampler, there was a column missing at every vertical page break. The previous one had a row missing at each horizontal break. A nuisance, but manageable and well outweighed by the advantages.
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Glad you caught the issue in PK before you started stitching your Long Dog. It really is the bee's knees. Thanks again for your help with my backstitching dilemma. Sulky was the key to the problem.

All the reasons I like pattern keeper! Wonderful way to explain it. So, I'll share another app you may like. It is called stitch pal. It does the math for you. You enter in the information about your WIP and update when you make progress. You can add a photo of daily progress, notes, date, time. There's a great feature that calculates how long itll take you to finish a piece at your actual pace, or your pace if only counting the active days. Or! You can punch in a date you'd like to finish and itll tell you the amount of stitches needed daily to get to that goal. It's fun. Loved the video as always. I enjoy my time with you and will take that to my next dinner party.😂
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Thanks, Stephanie! I'm just regret it took me so long to get PK. Stitch Pal sounds great. Leah Noel of Rhubarb Patch Studio just mentioned that to me too after seeing this video. I did a little research on it, and it does look very useful. I appreciate you checking in! --Deb

I think you've nailed it with PK. I bought it about a year ago. I only use it for my 2 HAEDS but love it! I was using drop box and was about 50% thru one of them and was getting increasingly frustrated trying to keep everything straight. It was really putting me off the whole design. PK was being frequently discussed on the HAED group, so I thought, "Why not?" But - that being said, I'm also a creature of habit and enjoy using my paper charts, and, yes - highlighting them. So, I get the best of both worlds. I'm glad you are sorted out with the white backstitching. It's looking great! Steph x
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Thank you, Steph. That Sulky suggestion was the breakthrough idea I needed. I think that will be perfect. Just put my order in to 1-2-3 Stitch today for the Bright White Sulky. There are some confetti-heavy designs that would be nearly impossible to stitch without it. I have only one HAED, but I haven't started it. Maybe PK will give me the courage to do that soon. Thanks again! --Deb

@@thetravelingstockingstitcher You're so welcome. Pk is a total game changer for full coverage. It makes them so much fun to stitch.

We have couching in common. 😂 You are so funny! It's nice to hear your review about PK. I haven't tried it at all. I'm not sure if I will? 😬 I have always liked my books and when ebooks came out, I gave them a go, but I like my old fashioned books. And paper charts are fun, except Chatelaine Is only work off of pdfs to enlarge and print off. The longer Amsterdam piece looks so pretty! Well, so does the one you're working on with the backstitching dilemma. and the tiles - also so pretty!
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
Thanks, Wendy! It took me a while to embrace my Kindle too, but I like being able to carry so many books around with you at once. There was a time when I would lug 12 books to Hawaii in my suitcase--good thing you don't need a lot of bulky clothes hogging the luggage. Plus, I liked being able to check out a library book from the comfort of my couch (told you I was skilled at couching) instead of having to go to the library in the middle of winter. The best tool is the one that works best for you. I really don't mind paper charts unless there is a lot of confetti or I'm stitching outside in a stiff breeze and they blow around. I agree that the Anchor Amsterdam piece is very pretty. The backstitch one isn't really my normal style, but I couldn't resist because it just looks so darn....Amsterdamy. Thanks as always for checking in!

Thanks, Joyce! I was out of town for a few days and not paying much attention to my RU-vid account. I appreciate you looking out for me!

Hey Deb! Yes, I had the same reservation about PK and the same love for it after using it. Really great video! I think you mentioned you also use a spreadsheet… have you heard of the app Stitch Pal? I use it for all my PK patterns. Loving your Amsterdam travel posters and VERY excited to see the Denmark project. Happy stitching! -Leah
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
I haven't heard about Stitch Pal, although since your comment, @theenpointestitcher9220 mentioned it to me, too. I'm not a big stats person, but it sounds intriguing. I took the Denmark one along on my last trip because it will be an easy stitch, but didn't get around to it. Guess I'll have to book another trip to get it started. 😁 Do I remember right that you spent some time in Denmark?

@@thetravelingstockingstitcher Yes, good memory! I was an exchange student and happened to be there during 9/11. I want so badly to go back and I know my hubby would love it too. It's on our list!

@RhubarbPatchStudio Have you ever watched Borgen on Netflix? It's a politician drama about a woman who is the Danish Prime Minister, and they shoot a lot of it around Copenhagen.

I might give PK a try….. it’s only $10
@thetravelingstockingstitcher
I'm glad to hear that. I think you'll like it. I figure $10 is about the price of a chart. If I can stitch faster, I've earned the cost of the chart by using PK. If you do, let me know what you think. Thanks for watching! --Deb

I couldn't figure out pattern keeper. Lol

Hi Nora! I admit, Pattern Keeper did take a little trial and error to figure out the sequence of hitting the buttons. Thanks for watching! --Deb
