That shirt you are wearing is a perfect color on you! I love that you had the perfect day with your Daddy remembering family and creating new memories together. I have a feeling it is a day you will always treasure. Putting the photos on the back of memorial samplers is a great idea! I am grateful for our cross stitch community. I have stitched one sampler, but it was a fairly small one. Your sampler is beautiful! I am not a fast stitcher. I am grateful that my husband made it through bypass surgery this week. The doctors were a blessing. They were all so kind and thoughtful. I hope you have a good week!

I love the family Samplers you've been working on...such great heirlooms, and inspiring!! Many years ago, every time the family got together, we would pull out one old photo album. I'd have my granddaddy just start flipping through. I had my laptop, and as he talked about the pictures and those in them, I'd just type. It was such a special way to hear about family and friends I never knew and stories he never told before that. We printed many copies so each grandkid got one. Just a special memory for us all.

I am ever so grateful that today is Friday and I could watch your video. I laughed so hard over your eclipse story that I had a coughing fit. Your CO Henderson finish turned out so beautiful and I really enjoyed hearing about your time with your dad and the family stories. My son left yesterday to go camping with friends down to southern IL to watch the eclipse. Don't worry, they are in a campground that's first come first served. They are not parked in anyone's yard. That's why they went so early. I'm with you on not going off somewhere to see a 4 minute thing. That's too much for me. I'll send a donation if you need bail money. Stay safe! Sampler. About 8 years ago we drove my young grandsons (about 4 and 7) about 45 miles north of home to be in totality. It was worth every minute and very exciting! They remember it well . Your paper plate tip is a good one for the Littles. Happy stitching.

I’m so glad you mentioned the conversation about being the first generation to be born in the hospital. I never thought about that but it’s true for me too! I know both my parents were born on a farm in Kansas, and my grandmother was born in a sod house on the prairie. I just love seeing all your stitching ❤. My dad would make hot tea and crumble up saltines in it. Definitely something he are as a kid during tough times but was a comfort food as an adult. Love the family stories.

Hi Niecie Lynn, and Happy Birthday early! I love that you got to share so many memories with your Dad. It made me miss my Mama and Daddy so much and I wish we’d had many more conversations like that. I know I’ve missed out on learning a lot about my ancestors. I am doing Ancestry but it’s not the same as having them tell me. Your sampler is just beautiful! I have so much to be grateful for and I do count my blessings each and every day. I’m glad you got to spend some time with your Florida family..I know you miss them a lot. I got so tickled listening to you about the influx of folks for the eclipse😂 It is pretty crazy that folks will drive that far for 4 minutes of viewing. Oh well! Thank you for another joy filled video! You have been quite the inspiration for me to get busy stitching! But I also loved your story about the little ones & their dressing up for picture day! Sounds just precious! You had me lol discussing the eclipse! I had an eye Dr appointment that day in St Louis at the time of the eclipse & so had glasses to watch from the parking lot there! Even the Dr & his staff would come out to check the progress of the event!

I remember my great granny eating cornbread with buttermilk in a glass. I can’t do the buttermilk either, phew. My grandma has been working on our family genealogy for several years now. She just turned 90 in March. Not sure how far back she has traced the family. It’s so neat to hear others stories. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for all the inspiration and laughter. I did see the last total eclipse, and it was worth the effort. It sounds like the crowds for this one will really be over the top. I've been looking for a smaller sampler to stitch.

Niece, I enjoyed your Flosstube. I just found it today. We are supposed to get 500,000 visitors to our county for the eclipse. We are watching it from home. I have no idea how bad it will get out there with so many visitors. They had signs up last week warning that there will be severe traffic delays on that day, Wow. I always enjoy stitching Halloween.

My Gramma used to eat cornbread in a bowl and poured ice cold milk, salted and peppered and ate that for summer for dinner when it was hot. It is good. I don’t care for soggy but this is good, the cornbread is not cake like but rather old fashioned cornbread- solid. Good memories!

We were in the zone of totality last eclipse, and we did get a large group of tourists. We will only see a partial this time so not expecting a group. Great stitching. Grateful Halloween

I agree with 100%. To go somewhere for 4 minutes of excitement is ridiculous. I live in Pennsylvania and I will not drive 5 hours in traffic to turn around a fight traffic all the way home. The big news today was the earthquake that we had unfortunately I was at work and didn’t feel anything. 😅

My Pawpaw eats cornbread with buttermilk. He also eats cake in a glass of milk too. I’m in Casper, WY and we had SO many people (about 1 million) come into town for the 2017 eclipse. There are only 500,000 in all of Wyoming so it was just way too many people. People ‘rented’ camping spots in their yards/on their land for insane amounts.

I am also in the prime viewing zone,Lorain Ohio,we are expecting 35000 visitors! I will not be here,however,as I will be on a train to Chicago,to visit not just my brother,but Nicola,my dear mudlarking friend,who will be in Chicago on the 11th!!! We will meet up for dinner,I’m super exited to see her,stateside!!!! Also,I really really love the color of that linen for ‘Give thanks for this day’. It’s shockingly beautiful! Oh my goodness, you had me cracking up with your eclipse talk lol. I live in Arkansas and the same thing is going on here. There are no hotels available in central Arkansas and camp grounds are full. I live just south of Little Rock so I am in the part of the state that is not in the total eclipse so it is not affecting me so much. Thank goodness. My daughter in law works in Little Rock and has been told that her normal 20 minute commute to work will take 6 to 7 hours Monday! Crazy!! Everyone has also been advised to make sure you have gas and food. Your sample you stitched with your family names is beautiful. Jennifer with Violets and Verses lives in Conway, Arkansas.

I’m with you, niecie Lynn and I hope I don’t sound hateful, but I just wish people would stay away… We didn’t move out into the country to be inundated with folks ‘just passing through.’ South central/west indiana. Little town south of us (4.5 miles away) has opened up 60+ camping sites that were never there before. 🫣 We were going to have a family meal out here on Monday - ribeyes and the like - and now that’s all been canceled because my Daddy is afraid to drive with all the crazy going on .
