Soo wonderful to see the red dress complete, parts of her travelled to local needlework stores & guilds worldwide for ladies such as us to work on 😁 we were blessed to have her here in Australia at Allthreads Embroidery in Brisbane.. Thank you soo much for sharing Nicola 🤗🤩
I Love that you are so passionate about your love of Samplers. I too love samplers and have stitched many. People often comment and ask why I stitch the alphabet on everything. (HAHA! they don't get it!). I love reading the history behind these young girls who created their Samplers. Those scissors are absolutely Stunning! Thank you for your videos, so informative and your voice is very soothing to listen to.
I can’t wait for Sarah Milthorp to be available. It is so beautiful. Thank you for working on it again. Love the scissors and the little box from “The Attic.” Enjoy your trip there. It is some place I would love to visit. I hear it is awesome. Unfortunately, I will not be traveling for a few years. I am so glad that you allow your Boxers to visit in your RU-vid. They are both beautiful and well behaved. I love watching you with them.
So lovely to hear about your trip to London. I think it’s one of my most favorite Cities in the world! Being a corgi mom I would certainly be hunting down all the hidden Corgis - how fun! Always great to stitch and watch your videos. Be well 💐
My husband doesn’t question what I spend even though we are now both retired and our income is now more than halved. I indulge in linen but he may question me if I spent a hundred dollars or more on a pair of scissors. I did get a pair of dovos while they were still readily available. It depends on what flosstube video I am watching that inspires me to stitch a sampler, Miribilia or a kitted piece such as a dimension.
My gosh, the needlework exhibition looked fabulous,Nicola! I know when I visit the V&A from the US, I always head for the costumes sections first, so I can imagine how wonderful it was to see the red dress! Last video I asked about ending single stitches, and here you've answered my question! Thank you so very much! I've embroidered for many years and always try to make my back look as good as the front. Now I can attempt to do that with cross stitch! Again, this is much appreciated! Hugs, Candace
Nicola, what a delight to see everything today…the photos from the RSN exhibit are stunning. The red dress just takes my breath away, as does the queen’s cape. All so lovely. Thank you for the hoop info…I have been able to get a couple of Queen hoops, but they are so hard to find. Hope you have a great week and stay well!
The RSN exhibit sounds like it was amazing! Thanks for sharing photos of your adventure there. Sarah's sampler is absolutely beautiful and I shall very much look forward to her release! Thanks as always for being such an inspiration and for being so very generous in sharing
It's always such a pleasure to spend my Sundays with you, Nicola. I love that you're getting out and about again and bringing your travel hoops. Sarah Milthorp is absolutely beautiful, and I'm looking forward to her release. I'm so glad you've picked her up again.
I always enjoy watching your videos and learn so much from you. The exhibit photos were amazing...can't imagine how awesome they must have been to see in person. Thanks for taking us along to see them.
Oops, posted too soon....for being so very generous in sharing your incredible knowledge of this wonderful hobby of ours with us. Have a great week Nicola and happy stitching.
Wow, Nicola. You had a spectacular week! Lucky you for being able to enjoy the Royal School of Needlework Exhibition in London and for receiving two new pairs of Jean-Marie Roulot scissors. The scissors are exquisite! Thank you for showing us your hoops and discussing hoop shapes and sizes in detail. You were very helpful! Big smile!
That red dress😍 How about a chart of the dress? Your London trip sounds great! I was in Paris for layover and so wanted to visit a cross stitch or thread shop. Maybe next time.
Hi Nikola, thank you for sharing the photos from the exhibit. I love the coronation cape, absolutely stunning. You were in London during the Chelsea flower show also, I’ve seen video and photos of the store fronts that were so beautiful. What a great week to be there. Love your new scissors, stunning. Thanks for the tip on how to stitch borders and count to get them correct. Great advise. Have a great week.
Another fun video ! that little Home Sweet Home is precious - I agree the colors are so bright and fun. Lots of interest for a tiny sampler. I think a must have - fun to see the boys today - they are such good boys with mummy is busy recording. Also wonderful to see all your toys too.
Nicola I love when you tell the stories behind the samplers. I think the life story is my favorite part of any sampler. Nicola, as much as I love the samplers I do admire your clothing style! I need to know where do you purchase your clothing? The blouse you wore today I need to purchase. It screams to be in my closet. Thank you
I will be in London in July visiting my daughter who is taking a summer college course. Do you have a needlework and fabric shop that is a must visit? First time traveling from the US and am so excited.
Thank You for the discussion on embroidery hoops. Your explanation was simple and clear. As always you are very generous with your explanations and descriptions.
dear Nicola I so wish you would use your beautiful scissors daily. what if you chose one scissor to use for the week and enjoyed it so and switched to another one the next week. our lives are so short. as I get older I realize this for sure. I have scrimped and saved my whole life and now as I approach the mid-60s I have allowed myself pleasures. So please if it brings you Joy you should use your beautiful things!
I just really enjoy your floss tubes. The work you put into charting brings joy to so many!!! I’ve been searching for a Queen hoop and can’t find any. Are you able to get them ? That are so charming!
Hello - they are hard to come by. Set up an alert on Ebay for one, that is where I have found mine. It has taken years to build up a collection. Sometime they go for so much money but they do come up at a reasonable price from time to time.
I will be in London from September 18-26th,it’s been way too long since my last visit. I must consider reserving a table at that restaurant in the shard! I have a question for you,as you know,I love your frames. I have a lovely Mary Bell piece being sent to me. It has been altered and interpreted into a wonderful tribute to Ukraine. Denise Williams made it,I am honored to recieve it,and my question is,is it possible to have this piece framed by your framer? Only the best will do,and when I recieve the stitchwork,I will have the measurements. Truly, this is important to me,I must have one of those Cornish frames, they are heavenly!
Oh my goodness,I can’t stop commenting, because those scissors are nothing short of magical! I collect a musical instrument called a jaw harp, and they typically come in beautifully made wooden cases. The wood case, housing those scissors remind me of the finest instruments that I own. Hmm,I think that I might purchase one…
Wow, what a red dress. Could you please help me pick a sampler to stitch for first time. I’ve stitched about 1 1/2 yrs. I need a smallish one, with all x’s to get used to the style. Suitable for Aida. Thank you for any suggestion. 🪡. Thank you for sharing your work and exhibition.
@@nicolaparkman she was very pretty. I’m from Louisiana and something to do in the house during the hot weather. I’ll look into Ellen Barber. Thank you so much and if you can think of another one I would appreciate it. Have a great week.
Lots of good info in this video. How do we order the scissors that you were showing? I do need to ask what size hoop was the small one that you enjoy using? I want to order a Hardwick hoop but am unsure of the size. I hope you will pass your COVID test so you can come to the US. As always thank you for your time. Sincerely with hugs, Jeannette
Could you write out the name of the waxed bag you show in this video? I couldn’t quite understand the name and I’d rather like to see if I can find one.
Well that red dress and those two robes are real bobby-dazzlers!!! What a fun time y’all had! Im so glad you got to attend - and shop and eat!! And little Ellen is so sweet! And I’m looking forward to that BIG RED HOUSE! Lots to look forward to! Have a great week! Stay safe AND well! 😳😀❤️
Thank you for another lovely video...just what I needed to watch whilst stitching!! Have fun at the Attic too, can't wait to hear about your adventures there!! Samantha xxx
Thank you so very much for all you do for the cross stitch community. You give an absolute wealth of information on everything you come across in the cross stitch and embroidery world!
Hi Nicola, you showed, a few years ago, a war time sampler filled with people in different costumes. I am wondering if we will see this sampler reproduced? I absolutely adore it. Thanks for sharing.
The photos of the Red Dress were beautiful. So glad you got to attend. The answers to the e-mail were very helpful I was just thinking which was the best way to stitch and you answered it. Each piece you do is different and your stitching will be too. So good to see the boys they are all so good! Thank you and have a great week. Cherie
