Your plan made me think I should try to do this with mine as well! It would be nice to have a plan to finish it before the next Leap year rolls around. :) For mine, I am doing it in Pattern Keeper, and I need to do a little less than 700 stitches per month to get it done in 4 years. Your stitch count might be different than mine, though.

@@StitchinMommy my stitch count is 48,462. Over 48 months, it's 1009ish stitches. I just looked at the fact that it's 90 motifs and worked from there 🙂

I'm stitching my flag on 40 count 1 over 2, so it will be pretty large - it will still fit on a fat quarter of fabric (18x27 inches), though. It's about 20.5 x 10.5 inches when stitched over 2 on 40 count. These measurements would be the same with a 20 count Aida. You could also get 36 count (to stitch over 2) or 18 count fabric, and it would still fit on a fat quarter if you're okay with 2 inch margins. That size design would be 22.8 x 11.7 inches. If you're interested in trying over 1 stitching, I would recommend starting with 25 or 28 count. That's a nice size to still see well. On 25 count over 1, your design would be 16.4 x 8.4 inches. The margins on that would probably be too small for a fat eighth (13x18 inches), but if you try a 28 count, it could work if you don't need big margins (1.7 inches on the left and right). It would be 14.6 x 7.5 inches on 28 count over 1. I'm stitching mine on Vintage Country Mocha, which is looking really nice, since some of the fabric shows through in the stripes section of the flag. Ps: when you do beads on your Miras, do you do them full cross or half cross?

I usually attach beads with a half cross, especially when stitching with a full size bead on 32 count fabric. When using a half cross, the bead lays on the diagonal, which helps it fit a little better. There are still times when they're kind of squished in there, but it helps.
