A positivity wall is a great idea and Stacy Nash's Be Kind Sampler would be a good addition to it. I've been using the lasso technique for a long time. For me it works perfectly and the tool is always at your fingertips! Sometimes I leave the little piece of thread loose and cover it with the next stitches sort of like the Waste Knot technique in reverse.

Hi Jan. Thanks for the reminder of the lasso method. I saw a video by Jean Farrish about two years ago but I had forgotten. I also use a self threading needle that is split on the top. I like the idea of putting wips on slips of paper and picking one. I love them all so it is difficult at times for me to decide which one to pull out. I have more like 20 going. I’d like to whittle them down to a dozen. I am on vacation right now. My plan is to start Indian Maiden when I get back. My fabric came from Burgaria the day before I left. It has a beautiful sunset background I think will be perfect behind her. I just didn’t want to start it on vacation. I’ll be posting on Instagram, of course.
@HoopItUpWithJan0606
@HoopItUpWithJan0606 10 месяцев назад
Oh Boy! That’s exciting. I have a fabric to use on the Maiden but ordered all the floss and beads. There is so much I want to start. How will I ever get my current wips done if I don’t focus on them and keep starting new stuff? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Great episode! I loved all your work. I was never really drawn to Teresa Kogut's angel, but seeing it close up like that really made me say, "Wow!" Same with Tom's Foolery. Seeing your finish made all the difference. (And on 46 ct?!) I play thread chicken all the time so I knew about that trick, but never knew it had a name. Lasso is perfect. I've had one of the neck lights for about a week. It's been really helpful, but mine doesn't seem to hold a charge as long as I'd like, and seems to take a long time to recharge. I didn't think to just get two and switch off. Doh! 😆 Thanks again. Take care.
@HoopItUpWithJan0606
@HoopItUpWithJan0606 10 месяцев назад
Those 2 projects are serious stitching. Teresa’s Angels are no joke. But they are so beautiful when stitched. If I can just keep making some progress here and there I will finally finish it some day. Lasso is what the person that showed me how to use it while free motion quilting called it. So that’s what I call it. 😁 I wasn’t sure how long the charge would last on those lights. I planned for the worst. My stitching sessions last for hours when I can do I wanted to make sure I could see. 🤓 Thanks for watching and commenting. Engaging with the people make it so worth it. I am absolutely loving visiting with everyone. So thank you!

Thank you for sharing the tutorial re: the Lasso trick. (Could have used this technique earlier today!) I'll definitely use this going forward. Btw, I've always loved your recent FFO "Tom's Foolery" ... so colorful and whimsical! I am a monogamous stitcher and gravitate toward designs that use one (or very few) floss colors. I might have to challenge myself and begin the "foolery"!
@HoopItUpWithJan0606
@HoopItUpWithJan0606 10 месяцев назад
I was a monogamous stitchers back when I first started stitching. That’s just what we did back then. Part of the fun of finishing one was to go shopping for the next project. We didn’t have a such a think as stash. You should try Tom’s Foolery. It is fun to try different things. But be aware I wasn’t kidding when I said it is full of little doodads everywhere. Not much negative space. But it is a very fun stitch. BTW. I said the wrong designer for it. It’s should have been Hands across the sea. Thank you watching and commenting !
