Hi Arlene, Congratulations on 6 years Of your Etsy shop! Enjoyed this video on hardanger! Thanks for all the background of how you got started learning this technique. I think it's so elegant! Wishing you continued success! Lori 💕
Hi Arlene! Thank you for such a great video on hardanger. Not sure it’s ever going to be my thing but I am in such awe whenever I see it done up. Thanks also for your content here and on Etsy over the past 6 years. I always look forward to your videos and new releases. ❤❤❤
I can't wait for Yvette's new book! She's just an amazing teacher and her books help so much. She says the 'hardanger ' fabric we are sold is actually something created by the fabric companies themselves and bears no relation to Hardanger itself. Thanks so much for this video. I'm definitely going to go back and watch earlier ones 😊
Your Hardanger sampler is absolutely gorgeous. All the pieces are stunning. Hardanger work makes a big impact using simple stitches. Some people use colors as well as use only white. I really must give it a go! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, indeed, give it a go! I have never done anything with color and hardanger, but have seem pictures of some stunning pieces. Perhaps someday! Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on your Etsy-aversary! I'm really enjoying these videos looking at various types of needlework. I love blackwork and I'm actually stitching a piece as I watch today (just watched two videos back to back!). I have done hardanger a few times but struggle with neat wrapping so I think it's not for me But it does look nice with just open cut blocks and a contrasting backing fabric so that's my route now. Looking forward to what you share with us next.
Hi Arlene, great video! Enjoyed learning a little in Hardanger, so interesting. Just before watching this, I was watching Lori at Once Upon a Stitch and she was showing some of your patterns and promoting your business and sale. It was so funny, to me, that I received a notification for this video just as I was finishing up Lori's. I'll have to get on over to Etsy now. Thanks so much. 😊
Our local "Hardanger Queen" once gave a hilarious explanation of what hardanger is: You take expensive fabric, cut holes in it and then darn it with expensive floss.
Love this! Will need to remember it for the next time I'm talking about Hardanger with someone. When I was a kid, I remember a friend's mom explaining quilting to me: "I'm taking this fabric here and cutting it up into little pieces. And then all I'm going to do is sew the pieces together." Me: "Why are you bothering to cut them up when you are just going t o put them back together?" 😂
Hi Arlene, Great video thanks. Agree Yvette Stanton’s books are clear and inspirational. Did you know your video has 10 ad interruptions? Just so you know, it’s hard to follow with all the disruptions. Look forward to your next one.
Hi, Kate - thanks for watching. I've gotten incredibly frustrated with RU-vid lately - you are not the first to report a ridiculous number of ads and it seems to be a huge increase in the last few months. I am not monetized and so I don't have control over the ads. Ironically, if I was (i.e. if I was earning money from them), I could then choose how often they play and I could actually have fewer showing - I don't about earning the pennies that they might bring me, I just want to get rid of how many play. I'm not monetized because I don't have the minimum number of views that YT requires, but I'm never going to get there if viewers are turned off by how many ads they encounter! I think I need to mention all of this right at the beginning of my next video... Thank you for letting me know 🙂
Hi Arlene. I’m a little late to your channel but I’m glad I found it. I love Hardanger and would love to know the name of the design of the bell pull you showed that had all the different stitches on it. Thank you so much.
This made me want to do some hardanger again. It has been many years. Any chance you know where I could find the pattern/kit for the small purse you showed at the end? It appears to be a type of needlework I have not yet done but would love to try.
Sorry, no, I don't know about that purse. I'm pretty sure it must have been a kit that I got from somewhere and even though I often keep patterns, etc., I just couldn't find this one anywhere in my "I stitched this already" pile to find the name or designer or something. Maybe do some pattern searching with the words "counted thread" and see if anything comes up? Thanks for watching!
I just bought a exquisite Lace. I've been wanting it since I first saw it. Now to decide what color floss and fabric. I know I want a soft pink but pair it with what?
So many color combination options! That's one of the things I love about monochrome designs - you truly could do whatever really sticks out to you color-wise. Thanks so much for the purchase - I hope you enjoy stitching it as much as I did!
