Thank you. You make it so much easier to branch out with different finishes. I just finished my first stand ups - thanks to you- and now I'm going to try a tart pan. Thank you for your detailed directions. ❤
Oh my gosh Helen, the traditional tart pans are amazing, thank-you for sharing a great tutorial video. I never thought of using pom poms with the Rick Rack great finishing idea, thank-you.
You are so good at finishing you have such good muscle memory and it just looks so easy for you and you make it so we can hopefully have a finish like yours. Thank you for sharing.
This is a great finish for small round ornaments. I agree that the cording in deep red would be the perfect last step. As always, your tutorials make finishing so easy. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Another wonderful tutorial video! So glad you're taping such a variety of finishes! I know where I'll be able to find & refer back to them as often as needed when I do my finishes. The Pause & Rewind buttons will be my friend for sure .. it will be almost like you're sitting with me! 😊
Really love this cute tutorial! I see tart pans (and things that could be used as tarts) a lot of times at Goodwill and thrift stores. It’s probably worth picking a few up so I can have them for finishing!
I had to laugh at the perfect timing on this tutorial. I was stitching on an ornament which I have planned for a tin identical to the Santa ornament you showed. Thank you for yet another wonderful tutorial.
In case you haven’t tried melting the ends of Rick rack with a lighter or match, give it a try as it’s a nice end. Love this tutorial as I grabbed about half a dozen of those ornaments from Hobby Lobby. Thanks
Thoroughly enjoyed this Tutorial. Love to use this idea for a finish which I will for next Christmas. I will have to be brave because I have always hated the thought of glueing onto fabric
Thank you once again Helen. You make it seem so easy that we think it’s possible to do. I really appreciate all of your time and effort for us. Sandy A. 24:56 24:56
What a great tutorial Helen! You do make it seem - attainable! 😄 I was wondering - and maybe you have another video discussing this - how do you cut mat board if you can't find a precut the right size? I am just trying to figure out how to cut to get nice smooth edges. Thanks for any suggestions!
I actually just cut it with scissors the best that I can. I use an retractable exacto knife for straight lines, but just scissors for the circle. I found that using a piece of batting on the top helps hide some of the rough edges.
You may be the first RU-vid finisher to show adding pompoms. Seriously. I always wondered how that was done. I wish you showed what you meant by "trimming the tape" off the pompoms. What does that mean? How did you do that?
I didn't show it in this video, but I have a separate video about pom poms where I show it right at the beginning. Sometimes it's easy and sometimes they don't play nice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1TWwCi6STgo.htmlsi=MV-QSAxyl83gUsJG
@@helend.flosstube Helen you are so generous with your talent and your time. Thank you for finding that link for me!! I'm off to add pompoms to my ornaments!
Thanks for another great tutorial. Were you able to pull one string to separate the Lady Dot Pom Pom trim? I am never able to do that and end up struggling to separate. Can you let me know the secret to easily separate?
Honestly, it depends on the poms. Sometimes I get lucky and they pull off easily. Other times it's a struggle. I usually try to do about two inches at a time and make sure I cut all the way through the string so it will (theoretically) come out easier.
Thanks again for your tutorial. Quick question. Any idea where the cute tart pan with Merry Christmas on the bottom, came from? I remember seeing them, maybe last year…..but I don’t remember where. Thank you, Marilyn
Not a criticism, just curious. After you pull your circle around the cardboard and since you are gluing it down in the tin, can you glue it down on the back instead of lacing it? I’m working on 21 hummingbirds that I want to do rounds. Not sure exactly how I’ll finish them other than the shape; but, i think I have only five stitched so I have time to think about it. Love your tutorials and your ornament is really cute.
Sure, you could glue them. I usually lace because I already have the thread on my needle and then I have the option of wiggling my finish around if I need to, but glue should work fine. That's a lot of hummingbirds!
