I HAVE MY OWN CHANNEL NOW @flozscorner
Hi guys, this is Floz.
This is my poor attempt at filming my very first video to show you how I set up my cross stitch corner with lowery stand, my plan and my initial thought. Unfortunately most of the video was shot at the wrong aspects ratio - lesson learnt :( I hope this video might help you form a decision on how you want to set up your corner, and also how to work a lowery stand if you are considering buying one.
I'm also planning to film another video after a while and tell you about my set up again, how I feel about it then and what to watch out for if you are considering creating your own stitching spot. So stay tuned.
Where I got bits & bobs:
Lowery stand & adapter: JK's cross stitching supplies
Qsnap 17' x 11': JK's cross stitching supplies
Ottlite Led Clip Lamp: JK's cross stitching supplies
Juju's project bag (grime guard included): JK's cross stitching supplies
'The Countryside' cross stitch kit: www.amazon.com...
No face & soot spirit needle minders: www.etsy.com/a...
Feather needle minder: Unthreaded
Smiley cloud needle minder: JK's cross stitching supplies
Greyhound Amy: Greyhound Safetynet ;) (Although she personally is not for sale)

I am new cross stitcher as well. Setting up my stitching spot has been a challenge. I feel like I am setting up for the space station - lol. I need to check into a stand as well so this has been helpful. I keep an arm chair caddy that hangs over the arm of the chair for holding my snips, remote, phone. It also has a large pocket for holding my chart and floss that I am currently using. I organize my floss by separating each color in individual snack size bags. It is marked with the symbol and dmc number. I can then put in partially used threads back in the bag. Look forward to your future videos. Would love for you to show how you use your charts on your iPad. Thank you

Hi there, thanks for your comment 😊 I still need a few things for my corner and eventually I plan to do a video on what to consider when setting up a stitching corner. But that video will be pretty far in the future because I need to prepare for it. In terms of using iPad for stitching, to be honest, I don't think my method is very efficient 😅 but I'll think about whether to make a video or not. Thanks for the ideas 👍

It's wonderful that both you and your husband have hobbies. My ex, who is an ex for a reason, would always complain when I was crocheting, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery, clay, etc. He had no hobbies and was not interested in finding one. He watched TV. And he wanted me to watch him watch TV, truly, without my doing any handiwork. Just sit with him. Hence, the ex. lol I loved the little pink/red project you were doing. Was it a pomegranate? I have never seen that. I loved your barn/fall landscape project. Beautiful, calm dog. She looked very entertained watching you. Thank you for the video. I'm in the market for a new stand which led me here.

Hi there 👋 Firstly I need to clarify the 'pomegranate' situation. That was literally a royalty free picture I got online, not my own project sorry 😂 I had to go back to watch the video to figure out what you meant! I do feel very lucky that I found something I love, and the person I love is happy that I found a passion! We've been hobbying together ever since ❤️ If a person can't work with what you love, it's not a bad thing that they are not around anymore to be honest. I mean they don't have to love what you do, but at least accept it, respect it. This is craft, an art, a means to create, not an addiction or bad habit like gambling or something. Aaaaanyways, I hope you are still enjoying your crafting hobbies especially during this special time. Thanks for your lovely comments ❤️

Hi, came across your video and thought I would comment, so nice to see how you get your stitchy spot. I have had a lowery since Christmas 2019. I would suggest that your Q snap size would work without the adapter but I also use the longer elbow bar and that will go over any arm of a chair or sofa. I also use a clip on light that charges and then can work without the cable for hours. Luminolite from Amazon. The longer elbow also takes an ipad/ tablet holder also from Amazon. Got the idea from Gerald ginger stitcher on RU-vid and the light from sticherista on youtube. Hope that helps and you find your sweet spot. I sit on the sofa and the long elbow works a treat. good luck From a wet and windy UK.

Sorry, I didn't realise for some reasons your comment was withheld by RU-vid for review 😑 Thanks for the comment!! I'm actually cheapening out with not getting an L bar. Maybe it IS a good idea, especially if eventually I want to use the stand for a small piece. However, due to the monthly budget I set for myself, I won't be able to get it for a long time. But that's ok, it works alright for the moment. My light will have to go eventually and a battery charging one sounds fabulous! The iPad holder was recommended in a Facebook group also. I'll check them out when I have the cash 😂 Thanks so much for the recommendations tho Carol ❤️

I have the K’s Creation floor stand which is a lot like the Lowery stand but it adjust so much more then the lowery stand and it has a iPad holder that connects to the stand with others accessories. I love my stand and I move it to other locations like my porch and other rooms. I believe the adaptor on your stand is for when you’re working with large scroll frames to balance it on the stand, you don’t need to use it when you’re working with a q snap that might fix your problem with the pain your shoulders. Check out the differences between both stands on RU-vid.

Hi Carmen, thanks for your comment. I had to check K's creation floor stand out because I've never heard of it. From what I could tell it's from US? I saw the price and it seems quite dear. Looks pretty cool tho! I'm doing OK with lowery stand at the moment. When I made the video, I positioned my work very strangely and I didn't know where to put my iPad. Now it sorta worked alright even without an iPad stand although later on I think I'll invest in one. In terms of the adaptor I like it quite a lot because it makes the qsnap very stable and I like to rest my arm on it 😊

I got my lowery about 3 or 4 years ago and just couldn't get on with it. I felt suffocated and trapped behind my work and I kept getting a sore back. Since then I have tried stitching on 4 different chairs, with the lowery and without. I have been stitching for about 17 years and still can't find that sweet spot. I am back to using the lowery with a qsnap, I got the bigger L bar and I'm sitting on the couch, so far it's OK but I still need to make some adjustments. I suggest getting the big L bar, really helped me.

Hi Louise, thanks for sharing your experience. For now the lowery stand is doing me alright. I'm slowly finding a suitable position to stitch with it without feeling very sore. I also think it's related to what kind of chair you have, whether you have arm support, etc. I like my current set up with the adaptor even though I'm using a Qsnap which is quite light. It makes my project a lot more sturdy and I can rest my arm on the project with no worries.

I also struggle with my stitching areas. Might you try a pillow in your lap to rest arms? Thank you for the video. I to keep buying things to figure out what will work best for me:)

Hi 😊 It's working pretty good for me right now. I did purchase a couple more things and I'm thinking about doing an update about my stitching corner in a short while. I find keeping the arms close to the body helps with soreness. I also rest one arm on my project. It does need quite a bit of tweaking but it's nice to have a spot for stitching and relaxing 👍

I stitch with my left under and the right hand on top.. try to keep your elbows close to your body. Make sure your sitting up right. Do you have a outlet behind the wall near your chair? . I sit criss cross on my chair.

Hi Lani, thanks for your advice! I think I'm slowly finding my sweet spot with the setup. Now I have my right arm on the frame and my left arm underneath the project and stitch. With regards to the power outlet, there is one closer to the chair but it's filled with console related stuff for the home theater 😂 The cable running on the floor for lighting didn't bother our Amy as she's expert at watching out for dangers. Unfortunately it tripped me quite a few times. That just tells you how smart I am 😂😂😂

Hallo, FANTASTIC video!!! Thank you verry mutch. I have also a Lowery stand, and he works great 👍. By seeing your video, I think I would like to use the adapter. I have looked for it, and there seems to be 2 sizes, 14 or 20 inch. What size do you show? Kind regards from Belgium 🇧🇪 👋🧵
@CaffeinatedWarlord
@CaffeinatedWarlord 3 года назад
Hullo Hilde, thanks for your nice words ☺️. My adaptor is 14 inch and it works great! However, I'm using a standard size of Qsnap. If you use a frame, you have to check your frame size and decide which one to get.

@@CaffeinatedWarlord Thank you for your quick answer! I am always thinking this is so wonderful: connecting with you from Melbourne to Belgium in a second, what a wonder ! Have a lot of fun 🧵 stitching. By the way, we also have a podenko dog, she is wonderful 😍.

Woah, I had to Google what that breed is. A hound! Very handsome, quite large it seems. It's great to have hobbies and because of them, strangers suddenly have ties and can get to know one another. Otherwise it would never have happened! I do tend to reply straight away to messages and such. It's a habit. I guess in terms of RU-vid it's a good one! But this means I'm with my phone too often sometimes 😂

Love your chair and great unboxing video. Do you think this stand would work with a recliner?
@CaffeinatedWarlord
@CaffeinatedWarlord 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for the question. I love this red chair too! My chair already is slightly too chunky around the arm rest area for the normal stand setup to work to be honest. I kinda got away with it with a bigger project (hence wider qsnap, more room for adjustment) and the adaptor. I reckon to be completely comfortable, you'd need an L bar for a recliner for sure. Another thing is I've never had a recliner so I'm not sure whether there's room to slide the base underneath? If it's not possible to do that, then the stand will be in front on the recliner but either on the right of left side. This means the bar that the project sits on will be at an angle to the base for you to get to the project. Naturally the whole stand will fall because it's not stable like that. So you'd have to put something very heavy on top of the base to stabilise the whole thing. Sorry for the long explanation but I'm just factoring everything in 😁

For the cable, have you thought about running an extension cable along the wall, taping it down and running the power for the light behind the chair? Would reduce trip hazards for Amy for sure
@CaffeinatedWarlord
@CaffeinatedWarlord 3 года назад
@@0organlazar to be honest, I tripped on it twice whereas Amy was completely fine. 😂 I only connect when I use it, otherwise the cable sits on the red chair

Hi!! Has your experience with the lowery stand got better? Debating picking it up while I wait for my Velky Potoky mini stand…
@CaffeinatedWarlord
@CaffeinatedWarlord 2 года назад
Hmmm... I highly recommend getting an L bar. Once you have that, there's more wiggle room for you to work on your project. However, lowery stand + L bar is not cheap. Not sure whether it's worth the money when you already purchased Velky Potoky... My experience overall is better than before, but also I ended up buying a few more gadgets. I still like the fact that it can be tucked in as I don't have heaps of space, but I've since found other more boutique stands that can be somewhat space saving too. So when I have the chance I do want to upgrade Hope this helps ❤️

@@CaffeinatedWarlord thank you! I will think about it some more. My velke potoky is still being made, I am hoping it will get here by April! So I was looking for an alternative in the meantime.

I think if spending a few hundred is not a problem, go ahead. Otherwise there are nurge ones that are pretty good apparently? A bit cheaper I reckon

@@CaffeinatedWarlord I ended up getting a Daylight Smartstand on amazon, hopefully it is good! The nurge stands are pretty expensive here due to shipping.

Consider a rechargeable lamp to clip on the qsnap
@CaffeinatedWarlord
@CaffeinatedWarlord 3 года назад
Hi Trish. Right now the lamp is doing OK and it is a clip on. I mostly work on this one during the day before work so my eyes don't feel too sore under the strong light. Once it dies, as lights all die at some point, I'll invest in a better one after some research 😊
