Fabulous video, Katie! I love your version of the fabulous barn pattern. The silks are phenomenal. The bling that you add to your stitching makes me so happy. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. Happy stitching! 🎉
Happy to have discovered your channel this morning. I really enjoyed your conversions and enhancements. I have never seen sequins added to Cross stitch but so pretty in the right place. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much - and welcome, I'm so glad you've found my channel! I absolutely love sequins, used with restraint for just a little sparkle, it's a wonderful enhancement.
I'm so HAPPY that my "This Happy Morning" is out for delivery today!! Love watching your progress on all your wips and need to start on my Holly Jolly.
So much sparkle and beauty in this episode!!!! Your barn finish is gorgeous and the dove is going to light up every tree for miles around!!! Lovely to stitch with you ❤
I very much enjoyed seeing all the projects that you've been working on. Your sparkly dove is so beautiful. Thank you for another wonderful stitching update video.
I am so happy to hear that you are planning a sparkle dove ornament release! I think that blingy beauty needs to live on my tree. Love all of your project progress and I can definitely understand that the band sampler could be challenging. I am impressed that you're making it double sided.
I am so so happy to have found your channel you are so incredible and informative I loved your video. I will be having a video marathon tomorrow afternoon while I stitch and I can’t wait.
So HAPPY for your new release. Very excited that you personalized it for your family. I would love to do that for mine, already have a few ideas! Great to see your lending library of threads, a novel idea for organization. Can’t wait to see your FFOs!! 😊
Thank you so much! It's really lovely to personalize for family - it adds something special to a piece and I found it very meaningful to stitch, thinking of my grandmother and beloved great aunt.
Love your rendition of “This Happy Morning”. Your finishes and WIP’s are beautiful. You are so inspiring! Your videos make me so happy! Can’t wait til your next video. 🪡
Katie, Katie… you’re so talented!!! I can’t wait for you to release the color conversion and silks to start stitching Thomas and now you show It’s a Wonderful Life!!!! Beautiful, beautiful!!!… and happy, happy! Your final product, beautiful rendition to your family😊
Thank you RoseAnn! I hope you'll be showing me your progress (or finish??) at Summer School! It should be there tomorrow or day after, everything shipped out first thing yesterday.
Another wonderful video. The sampler you are designing and stitching is gorgeous! I cannot wait for its release. Your work is beautiful and your enthusiasm for needlework shines through your work.
So Happy to have found you in the world of flosstube. This is my second video and I am mesmerized by you beautiful work and dedication to preserving the historical aspects of sampler making.
You mentioned that you started This Happy Morning back in March. But good things take time, and good things come to those who wait! It is a stunner! I’m sure your mom will have it hanging in pride of place in her home.
Thank you! She does - I keep pulling it off her wall to show on my flosstube, which she is outrageously nice about. But it's back in its proper spot now and brings her a lot of joy and happy memories of her childhood and family.
I am always happy to see one of your videos post. I cannot wait until your dove is available to purchase so I can make of for myself. It’s so beautiful. I love decorating my Christmas tree in birds. 🩷
Thank you! The dove will be available with the holiday releases in early November, with plenty of time to make it up for your tree! You'll love it - they're beautiful but also so much fun to make. I think I've made over a dozen myself and will probably do several more just for pure enjoyment!
Always a joy to watch your videos. I’m happy to see and hear the Crystal dove will be coming out as a kit. I purchased the newly released kit on Tuesday. 50 hours later, curiosity got the best of me. So I went back to your website and it was sold out. Congratulations
Thank you! It was a huge success - and I am so thankful, because the gigantic pile of kits was taking up half my house!!!! It was wonderful to send them all out the door to loving homes...
Oh happy day, when a new Katie video pops up! I especially enjoyed the glimpse into your enviable silk organization system. I'm slowly, patiently building up my silk collection, thanks for the very useful storage and use tips. 🙂
Big red barns have always made me very happy! I’m currently living in my home state of Iowa and we do have our fair share of big red barns! I’ve been planning to stitch a red barn and want to hopefully do ‘This Happy Morning’. I love your enthusiasm about your work! Your piece with its special family memories is amazing. I love it! ☺️
It's a classic feature of the Midwestern landscape! It brings back a lot of nostalgia for my mother even though she's lived on the West Coast for decades at this point.
Hi Katie. Your flosstube presentations always raise my spirits. Thank you. "This Happy Morning" was well worth the wait for your own kit. It's on my to-do list. Happy Valentine's Day!
I was so happy to see the completed version of This Happy Morning. I am going to purchase your silk conversion. It is beautiful. I look forward to your videos. They are so informative. Until next time, happy stitching! 😊🪡🧵
So happy to get your conversion first thing this morning! I also have a big red barn in my family history. My great grandparent's homestead here in the PNW includes a lovely big red barn still standing
Thank you! Our family's barn is still standing as well, although we no longer own it - apparently it's been turned into a wedding and party venue. How things change! My great grandfather would just be so confused that anyone would pay to have a party in his old barn...
@katiestrachanembroidery just received my kit! Silks are so lovely! I am returning to stitching after many years in corporate job. Threads are like butter, and the fabric feels heavenly...can hardly wait to start! Heavenly!
Always enjoy watching your video. Beautiful finishes and your WIPs are looking super. Great haul and reverse stitching intrigues me too. Your haul was great but enabling. Lol. So excited to hear my name for a winner. Thanks for sharing.
There will be tons of doves available - it should be plenty for everyone who wants one. And they are so much fun to make, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these!
@@katiestrachanembroidery when I was a young girl my mom and my twin sister and I made bejeweled felt ornaments using sequins that looked like those “horse on a stick” that used to be a kids toy. You recall the ones you could pretend to “ride”? A horses head on a stick. Literally. lol. We left the nose and bottom (neck) open and inserted a candy cane. We had lots of them on the tree. May have to revamp those using “Katie bling”.
I was so happy to see your video pop up today. Beautiful haul from the Attic and all your WIP’S especially the small Holly Jolly, I have been waiting for another small conversion. The reversible stitching is so fascinating and I like how you described it as they are learning the language of their stitching, this is so true. I feel that we all are doing that as we continue to grow in our skills and knowledge of our own personal stitching.
Beautifully put - we are! Reversible stitching is really growing on me - I found it a bit slow at first but watching it come together front and back has just been fascinating and I have learned so much
Oh how I love the crispness of your finishes … the fresh uncluttered feel makes me so happy! I’m a big Plum Street fan but I don’t have this particular chart … yet. 😬 Thanks for entertaining and teaching me while I stitch.
Always enjoy your videos. Wish I could afford all the floss and the charts but…. I must be very picky about what goes home with me. So,I am always very happy with what I collect and hope to stitch one day..
Thank you! And I completely understand - in some ways, that's probably a really good way to think about stitching. We invest so much time into each project that it's definitely worth being picky about what you choose to buy and kit.
Thank you! And I am sorry - demand proved to be much higher than the available thread. It's so hard to know when doing something new, this is the first big sampler kit I've done.
@@SheriTwiggs - That's all in the written guide that you'll receive with your kit. There isn't a black in the kit - I've got a dark brown and a dark gray, but you could try Gobelins 671 (very dark black-gray) or Noir (true black). Or anything you might have in stash - both of those colors come in 100/3 as well, but you'll get better coverage with such a dark color in Gobelins
The dove is looking good. So sparkly! I look forward to the kit. Speaking of Christmas ornaments, I just started my Theodora a week ago. I finished her dress and one wing. (My hands got tired cutting sequins, so I had to stop after just one!) I came up with my own solution to the tops of the wings, cutting one of the sequins into a wide shape to cover the remaining fabric, rather than using the round sequins and beads. I'll try to remember to post a photo on Instagram and tag you in it. I'm hoping to get the other wing done this weekend and maybe get the whole thing finished sometime next week. 😃
I've done that as well for an alternate wing cap - it gives a really nice, smooth finished look to the wing although sometimes the extra texture of capping with sequins can be fun too. The sequins don't adhere very well though so make sure you're using a higher grade of glue or they'll pop off with time and handling. I've found that hot glue works best, or a jewelry grade cement like GS Hypo. Or just keep your extra sequins to make repairs in future!
Your choice of color is fabulous. Also if you are looking for alphabets. Ultimate Sampler Motif Source Book by Brenda Keyes has 8 pages of these in the back of the book.
Katie, Thank you for your video and beautiful stitching. I have a question that makes me feel a little silly having to ask, it here goes. I purchased the beautiful green sparkle silk wrapped put]rl finishing kit but I have no idea how to use it. There aren’t any instructions on how to make those loops and add the beads. Was that addressed in a prior flosstube? If so, would you mind directing me to that video. Also, can any small stitch work for this kit? I just feel so lost and silly for having to ask. Thank you so much for any help you can provide. Lisa
I'm so glad you found what you needed! Please do let me know if you have any more questions, and don't feel embarrassed, I should have been more clear. I think I just assumed everyone would have seen the tutorial. And yes, any small stitch can work for it - in the description for the tutorial is the math for how much edging a kit makes, so you just need to know what the exterior edge measures and then you can choose whatever pattern to fit. I've stuck with single color because it was fun but really it would work on anything - enjoy!
