Thank you SO much, Barb, for this tutorial! I have cross stitched several stockings in the past, but was always too afraid to try the final sewing of my work to make an actual stocking. Yours is beautiful! I am just finishing mine today and am impressed with myself (but with a huge thanks to you for your guidance). Merry Christmas and keep stitching and sharing your talent!
Barb, Thank you so much for this video! 10 years in the making and I finished the stocking in time for Christmas. I could not have done it without your video. Huge hugs! Thank you so much!
This was great, Barb! Thanks! I'll probably never do a big stocking like this, but I picked up some tips for assembling some mini stockings I have. Preston's stocking came out great, and I loved seeing the other stockings you made for the grandkids! What treasures you have made for them!
Thanks, Barb! I’ve not had a stocking to finish yet but I feel like I could one now! I lied! I have Olga’s stocking to do … I cannot be trusted you know!!!! Cheers 🎉
The first one I did was 18 count and I struggled a bit but that was before I knew about lighting and magnification! If you use those things I don’t think there’s all that much difference between the 16 and 18. Personally I’ve done three on 16, one on 18.
I seem to have missed joining the top of the stocking and lining together? So, pull lining up over the stocking, right sides together, THEN stitch them together round their tops??
Sorry. I know it was a bit scattered. Yes you sew lining and stitched pieces together all around the top. Eventually you will turn both right sides out through the hole you left in the lining and then stuff the lining into the stocking after you whipstitch the opening closed. Hope this helps.
@@LostinFloss thanks for explaining, that makes sense! Love your stocking! I'm now trying to see if I could do something similar (smaller tho!) with Prairie Schooler Santas! 😃
Hi Barb! This month I’m planning on working on my Enchanted Ornament Stocking by Demensions and I’m thankful for this tutorial! I would very much love to get a stocking under my belt as I have yet to complete one. Now with your help I feel confident I can do so. Thank you for taking the time to make it, this is great!!
Good morning Barb. I always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception. I think your instruction is clear and easy to follow. Thanks for taking the time to teach your method. Looking forward to your next video. Take care and God Bless.
Thank you for sharing how you finish your stockings. Some great tips! I like how you baste the sewing line first as a guide. I have yet to finish a stocking, so this was very helpful!
So glad you showed this. I’m stitching Olga’s Autumn Stocking and have been worried about the finishing, this will really help! Thanks so much! Your stocking is beautiful, what a treasure.❤
Thank you for taking the time to do this for us. It's always nice to learn something new and this is perfect timing for me. I'm finishing up my blackbird design Christmas stockings so I'm very excited to give this a try. Happy stitching and thanks again :)
Your stocking is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this finishing technique. I think I can finish my Plum Street Fall stocking now; I have been so scared I would mess is up. I think I can do it now.
Thanks for your tutorial on finishing a stocking. I’ve finished stockings before but it’s always good to ‘compare notes’ with others. I’m happy to say I do the finishing the same way you do. I do use a pinking shears to trim my seam allowance and clip the curves. I’m always leary about using a scissors and clipping into the seam allowance as I’m afraid of clipping into the stitches. Thanks for sharing your technique!
Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial. I just finished stitching my first stocking and was hoping to find to find an easy finishing method. ❤
