Thank you for the info. I use 36 count linen and it is quite a common choice.
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for tuning in today :) 36 is a great count especially bc you can really go either way with 1 strand of floss or 2 and it can give you such a different effect :) happy stitching 🧵 🪡

Thank you so much for the information! So helpful! Can you do a video on how to bead in a cross stitch project? I'm getting ready to start beading a project and I have no idea how to do it!

Thanks for tuning in this am. I am absolutely planning on a beading video, likely not for a couple months through as I want to get through a couple more tutorials first. If you are starting beforehand, we can always zoom together and I can show you how I bead :)

thank you for this. I have heaps of linen in my stash - sewing linen for clothes.... wonder if its any different to xstitch linen. I will give it ago when I'm not doing full coverage.
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 5 месяцев назад
Yes the stitch count for clothing is much higher (usually 100+) so it wouldn’t be suitable for counted cross stitch but you could use it for embroidery :)

I really enjoyed this video! I love linen and yes, slubs are annoying but I think it's part of the beauty of the fabric. 😊

Thank you so much I learnt a lot! I am a relatively new stitcher and am just thinking of trying 28 count linen having completed 3 projects on 16 count aida, please wish me luck! 😊🍀

Great video! The only alternativ I could find locally are dmc linen like the aida tubes but linen and were wondering if it's any good?
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 5 месяцев назад
Thank you for tuning in :) DMC linen is an entry level linen, but I’ve used it before and it worked. Other linens you can order online feel much nicer in the hands and have higher quality. But at the end of the day it’s about what you have access to :)

Great video! I’m curious if anyone has tried any of the (very few) Aidas that are either 100% Linen or a linen/cotton blend? I was wondering if a 100% linen Aida would be a good balance for someone wanting something that will last a long time, because of the fiber content, but does not want the hassles of linen? I ended up biting the bullet and ordering my first evenweave linen for an anniversary sampler I haven’t started yet, but I looked at the linen Aida for a while because I mostly wanted Linen for its strength and longevity more than for it’s look, so the Aida was tempting, but in the end I wanted a color…
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts today :) that’s interesting bc I never even knew there was an option to purchase Aida made of linen. But I bet you’re right, you’d have the strength, durability and softness but with the ease of counting….. maybe you should order one to see? Maybe I should too! Good luck with the evenweave, although you won’t need any luck - I’m sure it will be easier to use than you think and before you know it you’ll be stitching away without even counting threads :)

@@FibersandFlossCanada I’m contemplating it for Christmas stockings since the neutral may work better with multicolor designs than a red or a green would, anyway! But, I think the strength of linen with the structure of aida may be perfect for Christmas stockings that actually get used (I would be afraid some linens might get stretched out of shape if they’re not tightly enough woven?)
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 5 месяцев назад
@@RedPandaHomebody I don’t think they will stretch, esp once stitched. We have a lot of needlepoint and crossstitch stockings in our family and many are 40+ years old!

Hi Arica. I’m glad to found your channel thru your friend. It’s a delight to watch you and your informative series is very good. Can you talk more about linen? What is the difference between Endiburg linen and Belfast linen? Thank you.
@FibersandFlossCanada
@FibersandFlossCanada 4 месяца назад
I’m happy you found me to Mary! There’s not too much of a difference between Edinburgh and Belfast linen. They are both made by Zweigart and they are both 100% flax - the materials are the same. Zweigart refers to its linen with names rather than counts. It’s the retailer who lists the counts with the Zweigart fabric. Sooo…. Cashel linen is always 28 count Belfast linen is always 32 count Edinburgh linen is always 36 count Newcastle linen is always 40 count When you see these names you know the manufacturer of the linen is always Zweigart.

Thank you Arica for your answer. I’ve never noticed that about Zweigart linen. Good to know! Keep that series. Please!!!! I’m waiting for the second part for Mirabilia. I’ve never stitch with beads so I’m waiting for your tutorial. You’re a such good teacher. Your royal games I is soooo pretty. I have the pattern, I’ve kitted up it and now I’m considering to stitch it on optical or antique linen instead of white linen that I’ve already have. It’s going to be my first mira. I’m waiting to see you stitch and the royal games II. Love, Mary
