He legitimately honorably served in the Navy. Why try to fake something else. I am proud to say that I was in the Army as a logistics specialist. All I did was make sure the other guys had the equipment they needed to get the job done. Nothing fancy. Nothing special. But I’m proud of the job I did.
Served 6 years active duty in the 70's and then over 30 working with all branches of the DOD in Europe. USAFE, USAREUR. and NAVEUR. Since my return to the US and NYC, I've really been amazed at the number of actual Vets that are living rough on the streets, especially here in Manhattan. Most 60's-70's Vietnam era, but also some from our down-range expeditions. NONE that I've met even wear a single piece of their uniform or display ribbons or medals. They usually open up when they can see you are truly a comrade in arms, but most won't share their history unless they're sure. But Vets love to shoot the shi! with other Vets. For most it takes them back to the most significant part of their lives and the opportunity to share experiences that only another Vet understands.
As a member of the USCGA this makes me sick! We serve with honor in the aux and this man is a stain to our tradition of honor and respect as volunteers for the coast guard and this country.
Sometimes i think back on all my past cringe moments and im like, jeeze, i stay up at night. Then, i watch this video on how much cringe and lying he did for years and im like, at least im not that guy.
A freaking colonel? Thinking that no one in their right mind would question him? Seen that once or twice when I was in active duty, Several senior NCOS wearing shit they didn’t earn just Be proud for what Medals you have earned.
Willem Defoes line in Wild at Heart leaps to mind when he is answering the accusations.."Its pretty hard to make contact with the people when you're floating in the fucking Gulf of Tonkin!"
Crossing Shit River in Olongapo prolly most dangerous mission this gentleman participated. Talk about that....shit happened there most people would not believe.
I guess I'll just never understand? If he was already in the Navy; why did he not stay? He could have worn a uniform, rank, badges and medals for real. That service would have provided him with all the opportunities he could have ever wanted.
