Jodi I love your perseverance...you go girl. We live on an acre plot but it's so hot here and super humid, it's almost impossible to get outside to plant any flowers. Keep going and share your dahlias with us.

while you have it out to cut up the big branches - take the chainsaw and trim the lower branches of the trees that are staying to help dry out the area and let more light in so everything will get more air and lighter by not holding onto so much damp. It will enable you to rake more easily also.

First, yes, I agree with your feeling on outdoor work. It's so hard - and so rewarding and empowering. I will go back to a spot numerous times just to revel in my achievement. You are an inspiration! I am currently spring cleaning my home top to bottom - and you are such a motivation to not bite off too much but also keep up my activity - thank you 😊

The dahlia flower is rich in symbolism and meaning. As the official birth flower for August or sometimes November, it represents elegance, inner strength, change, creativity, and dignity. The dahlia flower also signifies new beginnings, fresh starts, enduring kindness, grace, and commitment to what is good. That sounds like the definition of Jodi. Especially your realization today.

All the work you show is so inspirational. It really motivates me to tackle something I’ve been putting off. I tend to make projects into much bigger deals in my head so I end up putting them off. Your message in the video about what you’ve learned about yourself was very wholesome. I’d cut down that tree. The rental next door to me had a couple of trees encroaching on my property and I had to ambush the landlord and make him promise to cut them and kill the roots since my water line is on that side. Back in the day if your water line was compromised it cost about $3k to fix these days neighbors are being quoted $24-30k. Yikes I hope we don’t have to replace ours. I guess the roots seek out water. Anyway great video, you are making wonderful progress. Your mom’s pond is so cool! I have been watching Garden Answers videos on their installation. I have a couple of neighbors with ponds, gorgeous but a lot of work. I used to have a big fountain in one of my two cast iron bathtubs, after a few years, even though it was cool there was too much maintenance so I now have them both filled with dirt and plants. I can’t imagine the work a pond takes. 40 trees! OMG… to quote you….that is a lot. I bet it cools you so much. I have one slow growing apple tree that gives my backyard shade and I am so grateful. I started ripping down some overgrown morning glories because at my age I know I can’t do a yard clean up marathon. Next week my daughter returns to school and I will have my granddaughter every day for 8 hours. I’m looking forward to it. I think I accomplish more when I have less time. 🙂 Thank you Jodi!

Hi Jodi, you're doing an amazing job. I'd suggest using your chainsaw to cut back the low branches of the evergreen tree that are getting in your way. That will really open the area up. Then decide whether you want to keep the White Ash or not. You could always lop the top of the tree each summer to keep it from growing so tall.

@joannabeck9755

Take the Ash down. It is so close to your house, & with the height that it will get to you don't want to have to deal with the roots, limbs/or tree coming down if they have heavy snow/ice on them. As well as the trees at the shed side of your house. I am NOT being critical, I am speaking from experience. Also, if you know where your sewer pipe is, & if any trees are nearby, find out how the roots of those trees grow, out or down in order to protect the sewer line. If you have trees taken down, have the roots killed off as well so that the possible issues in that area are settled. You are doing such a good job on all of it, & I loved what you shared about how this experience has changed you, etc. I hope that you can continue to work in these areas & have a blast!💞💞
@jodidunnmymessylife1847
@jodidunnmymessylife1847 11 месяцев назад
Thank you so much Joanna ❤️❤️ Yes that’s a great point. It extremely close to the shed and once it grows bigger could cause damage to lots of things. I have no idea where my sewer line is. My city should be able to tell me though since we have city sewer.

Jodi I forgot to add that we are battling Japanese beetles in Denver too. They first attacked a Creeping Myrtle which I call the grape vine, turned the leaves into lace in a day. Then went after my roses. Some kind soul on NextDoor shared that she accidentally left a citronella candle uncovered in the sun and the beetles flocked to it, dove in and died. Other people concurred. I bought some and yes it works, they hover around then dive in. It looks gross and I usually do the dish soap drop but these candles are working for you all day. some say they are cleaning their candles out with a slotted spoon. I do milky spore in the front yard to kill the beetle grubs but I need to treat the back yard. I bought some neem oil to kill in the back, nontoxic to dogs but I think the milky spore isn’t dangerous to them either. Sorry Jodi, I tend to babble.🙄

Jidi, your yard is looking so beautiful, you should be proud. That is the type of project that i love. It is so satisfying. I have played Junes Journey for 3-4 years and enjoy it so much. Not only is the searching fun, but decorating the islands is the best. The artwork in that game is some of the best i have ever seen I vote to cut the ash down, but if you decide to keep it you might want to cut off the lower branches to make it look fuller. Thanks again for another entertaining video. Have a great week. Lana (Mark's wife😏)

We have the really thick landscape material and yes it is really hard to poke through to make hole but here in Florida it is necessary because it does not get cold enough here to kill off the weeds in the winter. We have such a bad weed problem here with the humidity etc. I used the thinner weed fabric for years and it just didn’t work. The weeds were uncontrollable. This year I redid the front landscape with the thick fabric and it working great. The water can get through the thicker fabric. Also it keeps mulch much dryer so the mulch doesn’t break down as fast.

Jodi. Three is a solution that kills Roots. Also just my opinion but it would be feasible to contract to clean out all debris and as many trees as possible because your health and wear and tear on your body means more. Once it is cleared out then you can keep up the yard with less stress. Take care of you for your family. God bless you.

I Jodi👋. Sorry I'm late. Yesterday was a full day of canning beans, leftover beef stew and mincemeat. Using a water bath canner takes all day as each of these required 3 hours as meat/ beans ( dry). Then my canning pot acquired a crack that was leaking. Requiring continuous refilling of boiling H2O to keep it working. Which meant there was water leaking out of the bottom of the stove, through and out the warming drawer in the bottom and all over the floor. Lol. Liquid disaster.😆😂 Used every towel I had and a few sheets to soak up that water. which meant extra laundry.🤣 So I couldn't afford to be distracted for any length of time. So. My result =21 jars of food that will be eaten quickly since I don't eat sandwiches. But. No wastage. That dirt needs some plant matter...try mixing in some shredded leaves and well aged compost. Then it will be good too.

Yes, deadhead right below flower. Also, when planting use Espoma bio tone started fertilizer. It’s organic and works wonders. A real game changer. I wouldn’t keep the Ash tree. Emerald Ash borer kills most of them. Not worth letting it grow big to lose it to an invasive. I just lost my Ash tree in my front yard 2 years ago to the Ash borer. Your Moms yard is beautiful and your yard is shaping up every week.😊❤️

I love her flowers and especially the waterfalls! The sound of water is so calming to me. I have a small fountain with 3 waterfalls by my front porch. I love to sit on my porch swing and listen to the fountain, watch my bird feeders and read or watch RU-vid videos. I’m team “keep the tree!” The reason is the leaves seem lighter in color so they really stand out.

Wow! I'm proud of you! That is a lot of work!! I can't believe you wore that bee suit the whole time!! I would have stripped it off and sprayed myself down with the hose!! I can't do that much heat!! Roast your butt in there!! 🔥I vote keep that tree and cute down all the other smaller ones and see what it looks like there. Your mom's yard is stunning!!💜

To be honest Jodi I love the back yard it's such a beautiful forest, just cleaning it up like you doing is going to make it look so good, but you need a lot of help. Doing it on your own is exhausting, ask the family and friends to come over for one day, that should help you. Give them a barbecue or as we call it a braai, im sure they will help. 😅

Hi Jodi. Your yard is coming along great. I have one tree in my yard a walnut. I hate it,but the squirrels love it. I love the hidden object games. Your mom yard is beautiful.

You're doing great Jodi! You're making huge investments in your home and for what it's worth I'm proud of you! Thank you for encouraging me to do the same! I've been decluttering here and there and selling on fb market. I hope to start working on the outside next spring! Hopefully I'll find a pressure washer on clearance this fall/winter 😂❤

Great job again this week! I can't imagine working in a hot bee suit! I vote to keep the tree. I am a believer that if a volunteer tree isn't in the way of something let it grow....you never know when an older tree will fall because of age. Your mom has a beautiful yard too. I would love that pond but, the care they take makes me say no. I hope you have a good week!
