I honestly thought that intro music was exclusive to Flower Hill Farm! I love it so much and I just imagined a friend or family member playing it for you to use! I got so mad and bent out of shape one day when I heard it on another channels video. I was like how dare you steal Nicole's music! It was some type of crafting video or something. But I was legitimately mad😂😂
Y’all realize that in just a couple of years Nicole has gone from having an at-home flower farm business to having TWO farming locations AAAAAAND a second thriving, successful business. Is there anything she can’t do?? Talk about being an inspiration. ❤
I would hot wire the top of that fence if those dear are eating Sunflower Steve sunflowers! 😂 So happy to see your smiling face and having the great attitude you have after everything you’ve gone through. You’re inspirational for sure!
Nicole, I hope you know/realize how inspiring you are and how much you have influenced so many of us to grow beautiful flowers. I didn't even know flower farming was a thing until I found you a couple of years ago. Now I have my own flower farm (not nearly as big or beautiful as yours) but never the less, it's thriving and I attribute it to how much I have learned from you. Thank you so much for putting these videos out there for us. You are amazing!!
Love that you take us along, thank you. Would have loved to see bouquets of the flowers you had picked. What a beautiful combination. Although it's hard work, the satisfaction of seeing so many beautiful flowers, well worth it!!
I love your realness Nicole! When you bust out the accent! And the phone drop! Happy to see some of your funny self again! Girl you made me laugh today, thank you
I love your cut flower farm! As a retired florist, I relate how hydrangeas can be unpredictable. I'm no expert, but I thought I'd share a couple tips. I learned from my floral design instructor, Anne Patrick (author), to place the hydrangeas in warm water, after I brought them from the flower market, (after I cut approx. 1" off the stem.) Also, you can actually bring back a droopy hydrangea back, after you trim the stem and place it in almost hot water. She demonstrated this in a class, it was amazing! Also, after I brought my hydrangeas from the flower market, and trim the stem 1", place them in warm water, I also placed wet paper towels over the blooms over night. Just thought I'd mention it :)
Try hanging sets of aluminum pie plates to the deer fence so they hit each other. Also panty hose filled with hair. That's what my grandparents always hung around their gardens.
Do you have ducks Nicole? They will roam amongst your rows and clean up any bugs, it's adorable watching ducks jump to catch bugs up high. Love love your hydrangeas 💚☀🌼
I love all of them! I'm growing Canna Lilies for the first time this year and I'm kinda obsessed with them. Learning about harvesting the seeds. I think I might have a problem. I should talk to somebody about it. LOL Any "Hooked on Cannas" group meetings out there?...Anywhere?...
Ooooh! I love the vibrant pink Zinnias! Did I miss the name of those? Will rewind. Unlike the mass, I don’t care as much for the queen lime. I love how you mix up your bouquets for different tastes.
Flowers are looking so good. You can rehydrate hydrangea by plunging the whole head in water it drinks from the petals. I’m glad I don’t have the problem of deer eating my flowers what a disappointment. Lol oops went for a drop. I can hardly wait to start my Zinnias and see my Rudbeckia flower…last month of winter here yippee 🇦🇺cheers
Allum is another thing you can dip them in to help keep them alive. I use quick dip when I'm hydrating them, after at least 2 hours I will cut them, dip them in Allum, as I'm designing with them.
Your deer, like mine, have exquisite taste... Mine will only eat Sunflower Steve and Pro-Cut Sunflowers, but will pass on the ordinary, less expensive sunflowers
Dip in Alum powder and add to water. That too will prolong hydrangea blooms and may be a bit less expensive. I also use a sprits of Crowning Glory. 💐 Beautiful harvest!
Yeah It’s Nicole from Flower Hill Farm! So happy I purchased a mix of the Sahara Rubeckia from you at the Nursery! They are so beautiful and so much different from plant to plant! Thanks for sharing your harvest with us! 👍🤩💛🤎
I love Solidago In bouquets. I wish I had a whole field of them to cut. I have to limit the patches that I have so that it doesn’t take over my whole garden.
Sorry to hear the deer are eating everything this year, Nicole. I read that deer fencing needs to be 8’ high so they can’t jump over it. Maybe some mint on the fence line in future would deter them…or any aromatic herb. Sage would come up every year and is not invasive like mint. That might be better. Once tall enough it could be used in bouquets as well.
Amazing Hydrangea field Nicole. How quickly it has filled up in just two years! Couple more years and you can have U-Pick Hydrangea days for the locals. Will save you the time and trouble of harvesting and bring in the money at the same time.
Love love love hydrangeas. I decorated a whole outdoor area for a 21st one year with all the free ones I found around the neighbourhood in purple and white.😍😍 And your Dahlias are to die for. My fav is that Arabian night....how sexy are they????
If you refrigerate the quick dip, you can stretch out the usage!! Really makes a $$difference. It was my life saver in the flower shop, and all my AIFD friends use it religiously
It’s 7:30 pm here, and Thank You for my first laugh out loud for the day!:). Aren’t there gloves that fisherpeople wear that could aid in stripping your foliage in the field???
The squirrels and chippies ❤ sunflower Steve seedlings. Every time I planted succession, they took those seedlings first. Every time. I dont know what it is, but they rip them up like they are crack. Meanwhile, the rest of the sunflowers are the last choice.
Gurl, your dahlias are so beautiful!! Your customers at the nursery would be going crazy over them if you decide to sell tubers! Thank you for all your flower power energy ❤
Mine just dont look like yours😢 My zinnias heads are punny and my dahlias are unable to grow to full bloom because they are being eaten😭 im so frustrated. (My moms memorial garden that i created to gift to neighbours and friends in her name) my gladiolas are the best, no bugs, interesting.
Look into electrobraid and solar charger for deer fencing. Think of it this way. Deer can jump high, and deer can jump wide. Deer can't jump both very high and wide. So if you run a two strands of very HOT wire and make the top line 8', bottom one 4" on t posts with plastic insulators, then do a shorter hot wire around a second perimeter line 4' farther out from the first fence posts. Run that wire at about 2-3" from the ground, there is no way deer will even attemp that. We always run a lowest line that isn't hot around 2' just to prevent fawns from going in without the does. It is against their nature to try and jump into something that they can't safely jump back out of. Once the deer know you've got yummy offerings they'll be back with more friends and family each season.
Those flowers are gorgeous! Even the beetle damaged ones that won't go into bouquets are pretty. I feel your pain with deer. They have eaten so much in my garden. They even ate tomato foliage and flowers. No flowers, no tomatoes. Argh! 😡
Why don’t you use Japanese Beetle Traps??‼️ They work sooo well that I didn’t need them this year. No chemical sprays or any bad stuff. And, yes it’s going to get rid of your neighbors too. So less problem for you the next year. They really work.
