A selection of Flowering Cornus growing at Plantsmans Corner; Madame Butterfly, Satomi, Milky Way, and Wolf Eyes are all worth a place in the garden and have proved their hardiness here.
Another great video! My limited knowledge of the Crucifixion comes from looking at Medieval and Renaissance artwork but from what I saw it seemed to involve only 3 nails. Just sayin’ 😉
A lot of myths and tales around plant names are silly....Hellebores, Achillea, Sanguinaria, and a thousand others all have their legends Gitti (is that your full name or is it short for something?).......nevertheless, the genus Cornus has many many wonderful species and varieties, many of them can be a little trying...but often worth the effort eventually, like a lot of things in life I guess. We are in Zone 8 here. Thank you for your comment as well. Best wishes....Malcolm
Cornus Kousa or Chinese Dogwood is a very beautiful small tree or shrub and I have seen it used in many UK gardens. What surprises me is the absence of Cornus Florida or American Dogwood. I believe Cornus Florida to be even prettier than Cornus Kousa for the following reasons: 1) Cornus Florida has brilliant, pure white bracts while Cornus Kousa is more a creamy or off white.: 2) Cornus Florida flowers BEFORE the leaves open so you have only pure white color while Cornus Kousa flowers at the same time the leaves open. I don't think the green and white combination is as striking as the pure white of Cornus Florida. Cornus Florida grows from Southern Canada to Northern Florida so it could grow anywhere in the UK.
Psalms 14:1 “(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
