1967, the summer of love. I remember it well. I was 13 years old and in Ireland. I remember the girls wearing flowers in their hair. Happy days.

This is one of my favourite mind expanding contributions from the period. How we need this ethos today.

At the time of Flower Power Music came out I was 13/14 years old and we had our first class parties and started our first adventures with Girl Friends….what a time ! Unforgettable ! No worries with politics as we got to know a few years later and all the bad news we are facing today were so far away at that time….. I wish I could experience this period again, so many lovely memories…

I was 14, at boarding-school, still innocent, obedient. This song was popular on the radio, listening with ear plugs in my transistor radio so as not to disturb the household. Waiting for the bus to go back to school, in my starchy uniform, a group of hippies walked by smelling of Kama perfumed oil, and poking fun at me - a ridiculous symbol of conservatism. Unbeknown to them, from a distance, I secretly admired these creatures. I too miss these still rather innocent times. Cheers and stay focused.

Anything can be the reason for our friend above, but I was just a 5 yr old kid, when this fabulous song came out, and I used to hear it frequently, on the BBC channel we had at home in those days. I am from Malta, and one can say, that all music from that decade were played on the media, and as a very young kid, I used to have fun hearing and had my favorites as well, one of which was this one. It is a unique song of the flowerpower era, together with others and still brings my childhood memories as if yesterday. Songs like these never die, for one who appreciates the TRUE music !!@@ianwalker4030

The backing band (not appearing here), for this singing group ... was known as "The Garden" and in 1967 featured future Deep Purple upstarts Jon Lord (organ/keys) , Nick Simper (bass) .... along with noted session drummer Carlo Little.

They were created by John Carter & Ken Lewis of the Ivy League. John Carter went on to write and sing on Winchester Cathedral, Beach Baby and Dreams are ten a penny by Kincade. Sang on Can't explain by the Who and wrote Can't You Hear My Heartbeat by Goldie and the Gingerbreads.

Sorry - NOT live. Don’t mean to be pedantic, but it’s a little insulting to artists who DID sing great harmonies live - not simply miming to a backing track. But thanks for posting. AK

Terrifffic arrangement. They sure knew what they were doing. Almost classical arrangement.
@Mudge07

Classic yes, classic Beach Boys and wrecking crew touches. That bass could’ve been plucked by Carol Kaye herself, and the zeitgeist of West Coast California was bottled nicely in this English production. I think Scott McKenzie’s SF epic was equally as memorable and for those who were too young and couldn’t appreciate the whole ‘scene’, it was a joyful ray of musical sunshine.
