My mother used to do this when I was a little girl. I can almost still see her spooning the Finest particles in between the petals to make sure that the calyx and corolla didn’t remain moist. Isn’t it odd that I don’t remember what she did with the dried flowers?
@@jamietumiel4421 : I think that’s the beauty of the Internet. It helps those who didn’t grow up with a A crafty mother who made a lot of things, like dried flowers, share the experience with those who had another experience. Undoubtedly, your experiences that you’ve shared have helped many people as well.
@@jamietumiel4421 same...except my mom did attempt to do some drying but instead of flowers she was always trying to convince my drunk dad to dry out and get some help for his alcoholism 😂😂
@@Marcia.Marcia.Marcia 🤣 ikr? except my dad wasn't there and it was me trying to convince my mom to dry out. No silica gel provided 🤣 I craft now... lol

Wait so those are Real flowers? I thought it was a set of fake ones! Where would someone get a set of flowers like that? And how it is so preserved still if not in water and then shipped out to her ? I’m so confused ?
Truth Godessis: Yes. As long as you use the silica gel litter. It’s the same stuff as you see used in this video, just different particle sizes, and much, much cheaper. When I was a kid, The stuff my mother sent for was more than $30 for the tub, and the tub was fairly small. The last time I bought silica gel, I bought the cat litter large 3 L bottle, and I paid somewhere around eight dollars. The other thing you can do, to get it for free, is to save those little packets that come in your shoes and purses and medicine jars. If you happened to work at a department or shoe store, you can save all those little packets that they usually throw away after they open up the shoes. It doesn’t take long before you have a nice little tub of silica gel.
Cheryl Dass: You can pay a lot of money at the craft store for a small tub of silica gel, or you can go to the pet section at Walmart and pick out a clear plastic tub with about 3 L of silica gel in it. It’s not expensive that way. There will be a whole lot of different particle sizes in it, and you can get round beads, or weird shaped pieces. They cost the same, but a whole lot less than buying the craft store stuff. You may find it easier getting the beads back out of the flowers, if you choose the round beads, put the finer dust in the bottom of the bag might be the best for getting into the dentist, smallest places of the flowers. If you choose a silica gel that has a few colour particles mixed in, those will service moisture indicators. When you get enough moisture in your silica gel, then you can just spend on a parchment lined cookie sheet, and bake the moisture back out. You can do this pretty much an unlimited number of times, so it never gets used out. I hope this helps. :-)
@@daphneraven6745 I did NOT know you could bake the moisture out!! I've just been throwing it away once I've used it! Today I was 39 years old 🤦🏼♀️😆 Thank you so much!💖 merry Christmas and happy holidays🎄🎉🥳🥂
