You're totally spot on that Amazon SES is a bugger to set up. You may want to create a deep-dive on that.

You're right, Richard. I may want to do that video in the future because I have some other sites that I my configure on a different account.

Hello, Thank you for your video and May I know how to get the email acount to put in the SMPT?

Hi, Jack. Many people use a Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365 account. You can also use email from other providers. I use a service called MX Route. They had some lifetime deals for small offices if that works for you. Very happy with them.

Since installing the fluent SMTP plugin, my website transactional emails do not work well. Should I use an additional SMTP plug-in for those transactional website emails like sign ups and password changes?
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress 2 года назад
I wouldn't think that should be necessary and they may conflict with each other. I'd recommend you reach out to WP Manage Ninja support to ask about the issue.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to thank you for the great tutorial you shared. It was really helpful and I'm sure it will be useful going forward. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you can help me with. Firstly, I've been using Fluent CRM and Fluent SMTP on my WordPress/WooCommerce site, and I've been sending emails through Sendgrid as my SMTP service. However, I've noticed that a lot of my emails are ending up in my recipients' updates folders instead of their inboxes. Do you have any suggestions for how I can avoid this and increase the chances of my emails landing in their inboxes? Secondly, I've been considering using multiple SMTP services such as Amazon and Gmail as well. My question is, do you think it is possible to use email aliases instead of creating multiple email accounts in order to simplify and save on costs? Or would it be better to create separate accounts for each service? Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Claudio
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress Год назад
Hi, Claudio Check your DNS to make sure you have records for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Some email systems will reject email that lacks these records. I've never tested using email aliases, so I can't be sure. My different systems use different email accounts. It couldn't hurt to try a test to see if an alias works, though.

I'm confused. When do we need to use AmazonSES? Is fluentSMTP good enough to send bulk emails out? I try to set up Amazon SES but they would not approve to get out of the sandbox and my emails didn't work so I had to remove it from my hosting.
@SuburbiaPress

Hi, Rebecca Amazon SES is one possible solution you can use with FluentSMTP. You need a mail service because FluentSMTP is just a connector between your WordPress site and a mail service. Without knowing more, it's hard to troubleshoot why. your emails didn't work.

I understand how SMTP can help with bulk emails and email service providers like convertkit, but is it also helpful for contact form submissions getting delivered to an email?
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress 5 месяцев назад
Absolutely. WordPress doesn't do a good job at sending email and hosting providers don't want to be email providers. Outsourcing that to something like AWS Simple Email Service or SendGrid using FluentSMTP helps the deliverability of emails coming from WordPress, such as notifications about form entries, or updates from other plugins. WordFence sends a lot of notifications, for example.

why does it say this at the bottom of the google space set up page? Gmail/Google Workspace is not recommended for sending mass marketing emails.
@SuburbiaPress

I wouldn't use Google for mass marketing, but it is an option available within FluentSMTP.

Spent a couple of hours trying to setup AWS but still not working. What is the next best SMTP option that is cost-effective as well?

I haven't investigated others because FluentSMTP is working great for me. What's wrong with your setup?

I think the question was if you had a recommendation on which to use with Fluent if you don't want to mess with Amazon.

Sheesh. Very confused with all this. I have Sendy, that I use with Amazon SES...but my issue is with my wordpress site where emails are not being sent to customers after a purchase. It worked before but now it no longer works. This seems like a plugin for sending mass emails to subscribers which I already do through sendy. Am I missing something here?
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress 2 года назад
What is your cart software? Is it on WordPress , like WooCommerce? Sending a note to customers after a purchase could come from a number of sources. You could also do it with FluentCRM using an automation. I just don't know enough about your environment to determine the root of the issue.
@AR-pb2zh

@@SuburbiaPress It's Woocommerce. Woocommerce has some email messages that you can enable (checkbox) within the settings when someone makes a purchase. When I "purchase" my own product, I used to get 3 emails confirming the purchase with a "thank you", "in process", and "purchase complete" email. All of this is done through woocommerce and I suppose goes through wordpress ? However, I hear wordpress doesn't guarantee delivery but it's only a single email. In any case, it was working before but now, the only emails I get are from paypal that a purchase was made. So I keep hearing that using a mail SMTP is the way to go but after watching your video, it looks like FluentSMTP is used for mass email sends? I have this for Sendy and using Amazon SES.

Sorry for the late reply. My dog ate through the fiber cable and I've been without Internet for a few days. Are you using FluentCRM? Fluent SMTP is a free plugin that makes a connection between WordPress and your email provider, like Amazon SES. However, you need something else on your WordPress site to integrate with WooCommerce to manage sending your emails. FluentCRM integrates very nicely with WooCommerce, and that would be what you use (after connecting Amazon with Fluent SMTP) to manage emails to customers after a purchase.

@@SuburbiaPress Let's hope your poor doggy didn't get indigestion! :) Poor thing. Always something huh? I am not using Fluent CRM or SMTP. However, I did manage to install WP Mail Logging plugin and Woocommerce IS indeed registering emails but they don't seem to be coming into my inbox. Not in the spam folder either. I just don't understand why I need SMTP for a single email that needs to come to my inbox. I don't have huge following and don't see a need until I can grow the audience. Could this be because of my internet hosting company that controls the server? This would also be odd as I have had this work before with no issues. Thanks for your help.

Can you use other smtp plugins with fluentcrm?
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress 2 года назад
Hi Darren. I haven't tested it, since FluentSMTP is free and designed to work with FluentCRM. However, I don't see why it shouldn't work if you have a different plugin for SMTP.

@@SuburbiaPress I’m using Fluentsmtp at present with my hosting provider as ESP. Test emails are working, as is signup and confirmation, but my welcome email isn’t being triggered. I’m using the free version at present, and my hosting provider has assured me they can deliver, but I have a bug somewhere. I realise this isn’t your problem, just thought you may have run into it. Thanks anyway for replying.

Hi, Darren. I ran into a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. The FluentSMTP test worked just fine, but I could not send emails. Turns out there was a conflict with a plugin called WP-Optimize. When I disabled that, my emails started sending again. I submitted a ticket to WP Manage Ninja so they were aware of the conflict. The response suggest there was probably some javascript overwrite that caused it. I didn't hear anything else because I let them know my issue was resolved. You may want to try disabling plugins to see if you can spot a conflict.

William, thanks for this video. Very helpful. I also jumped through all the hoops with Amazon SES only to stay locked in the Sandbox, since they would not approve our regular 9,000 monthly subcribers for a non-profit group's newsletter sent on MailChimp for the last 10 years. MailRelay is the one option that is free for up to 20,000 people. Has anyone used this service with FluentSMTP using the Other settings?
@SuburbiaPress
@SuburbiaPress Год назад
Hi, James I only used Amazon SES and didn't have issues with the sandbox, though I understand its purpose. Did they give you a reason for rejecting your account upgrade?
