Fluid and electrolyte balance is an essential nursing topic that is heavily emphasized on nursing school exams and the NCLEX.
This video covers key concepts about regulating intravenous fluids, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous levels in the body. Causes of electrolyte imbalances, signs and symptoms of abnormal levels, and appropriate nursing care are explained. Understanding replacement protocols, diet modifications, and patient education ensures safe clinical management of fluid volume excess or deficit conditions. Reviewing this content will prepare nursing students to answer exam and NCLEX questions on this high-yield topic."

when potassium is high it excites or irritates the neuromuscular function, hence, when potassium is high, your DTR grading will be 3+ or 4+

Don't purchase any membership. Totally not worth the money. I did and regret it. Stick to the free videos for supplemental information. I passed the NCLEX in 75 questions. ATI, Klimek material, and the free simple nursing videos or other videos on RU-vid was how I did it. Good luck! Don't let companies take advantage of you during a most stressful time.

How does hypophosphatemia cause high BP when high calcium causes hypotension?
@SimpleNursing
@SimpleNursing 5 лет назад
Alan Chizik great question! Basically calcium makes the blood vessels tight, that’s why we say calcium constricts. It would make sense for hypophosphatemia to do the same, but there are more mechanics to it that are not needed to know for the nclex
