Fluid is a super cool app. It was the first one I tried when trying to use my Quest like a bootleg Apple Vision Pro.😂 I’m excited about lightweight spatial computing apps like this especially as we go toward the Meta OS being on other headsets. This ease of use is a must. I did my best to improve the video call audio quality. Apologies! As always thanks for watching!
This channel is high-quality and quite enjoyable. It’s also very informative. I’ve been considering the Quest 3 for a while, but wasn’t sure about if I can use my AirPods with it, or if it can be used in place of a laptop/PC. Those questions have been answered thanks to you. Thanks to your in the vehicle demo, I know that I can use my fast 5G data with it to go online and do things that normally require a computer. I can’t quite do everything with my iPad Pro, M4, and so I will need some computing options and the quest three is cheaper than buying a MacBook or an equivalent high-quality computer. 🧐
@@moderncontemplativeglad you like the channel! The computing power of a quest shouldn’t be compared to a MacBook or iPad those devices are WAY more powerful. But if you’re only doing lightweight computing like things on the web… the quest can certainly handle it and it’s fun on top of that! You won’t be able to install pc/Mac apps like you would with a different device. It you get so much more entertainment value out of the quest. You won’t regret it. I hope this helps!
@@TheConstruct_VR Thanks for replying. I definitely don’t want to compare it with the power of the newest iPad Pro M4! Unfortunately, I can’t use the iPad Pro as a total computer replacement because it’s still limited to iPad OS. Sometimes, I will need an actual computer experience for downloading python, or other coding tasks. I am considering the Quest as an affordable spatial computing device that has other awesome feats. Question: can I use my AirPods Pro on the Quest 3? In a Google search I have seen people talk about how to connect your AirPods to the quest 3, yet I was told that it will be problematic or create a lag effect?
@@moderncontemplative yes there are latency issues with Bluetooth headphones unfortunately not just AirPods. I use these for low latency. amzn.to/465DRaa They have a dongle that is faster than Bluetooth. You won’t get your lovely noise cancelling and pass through like the AirPods but these are only $50
@@TheConstruct_VR I couldn’t resist it anymore. The prime deal prompted me to order the quest 3. It’ll be here Friday. Your recent videos definitely helped, especially regarding Fluid. Any tips? Like you, I am an apple fan within their ecosystem. I look forward to seeing more of your videos about case uses for the quest 3 that most people aren’t talking about.
Shoutout to John for this great interview, and construct for the great editing keeping everything moving and entertaining 👏Also that etsy link is huge. Big thanks I will be getting one to check out the comfort while editing and desk work. Will be trying out fluid now too!
Thought I had no interest in these apps but tried fluid because of your video. It is a fantastic app. I was blown away by how clear it looked and the ease of operation. Loved the adjustable window and am finding the app is very useful. Thanks.
Best comment ever! Glad you found it helpful. I find myself unable to be in my office or use the TV a lot so apps like these are coming in handy for sure. Thanks for watching
I do like what Fluid are doing. I tried to use it for work but the browser wouldn't play nicely with our web tools so i ended up using immersed instead - but i love where Fluid is headed in offering a completely standalone solution. I do wish the interface was a little less boxy. It feels like a bit of time / money spent on a decent UI overhaul could really elevate this to something that feels quite elegant.
Agreed. The app is a step in the right direction. I can tell they polished the UI since the last video where I showed it. At first it was even a bit low res. I look forward to other enhancements for sure.
Good video, as usual. I use my quest3 after I wake up, usually about 3:00am and I'm on (in) till about 6:00am. I lie in bed and watch clips from the late night talk shows I missed and keep up with my YT regulars. Maybe watch a film. I love the idea of placing screens just where I want since I am usually in an peaceful environment (3:00am - 6:00). Having a window to see and interface with my keyboard is great (as I understand it so far). I often want to make comments in YT, now I can!? Thanks Mr. 'The Construct' for enlightening me on all the newest possibilities in VR computing!
It’s so great to hear the videos bring value! Always good to see you here in the comments Barry. I realize I don’t say may name on the channel hahaha I’m Jason btw. 🤝 See you on the next one!
Right!? Just for safety. There’s a part in the immersed video … they have portals that you place anywhere in case you want to keep an eye on the real world.
9:28 Yes this is a very cool feature that I use on the job as well. I am a handyman and I use this feature to do estimates and invoices instead of waiting to go home. I can do it now at the location
That’s awesome. I feel like people hate on headsets from the outside, they don’t see the true utility and real use cases that you can benefit from if you get over the fact that you have to out on a HMD.
The conversation about the friction with setup and logins really hit me, because that friction really annoyed me, and stopped me from using AR computing. Fluid looks like it could very quickly become a favorite.
This is one of the best apps I use on my Quest 3. The ability to watch streaming media while having discord or news open in your peripherals makes me feel justified not buying the AVP.
That would be much better If you preffer to make meetings like this one by using VR meeting apps. Because you guys people who want to show potential of this technology to world so USE it )))
Yes! I would have loved to do that. I was grateful to get John’s time so I asked that we hop on for a quick video chat. Also I think it helps to see people’s face in these videos. I do plan do this in some future chats on the channel. Thanks for the comment!
I really like this model, but the one question I have is security. If I am going to use this for work, I can’t be using a persian bizaar browser that is 2 or 3 versions old with tons of security issues. I hope you can get this ironed out because I really like this product.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Meta Horizon OS updates to really give the developers what they need for apps like this. I agree though it all feels a bit hacky right now because of the limitations.
Nice brotha! I'm going to start a new series of $0 - $10k/m SMMA. Starting with a phone. Then upgrading to a Quest 3, then finally a PC I'm not sure still which productivity app I'll use for work, but I definitely want to use something spatial for sales presentations
There’s so many choices! I think comfort and ease of use are huge. I’m curious if you’d like Softsspace for sales presentations. I didn’t find the app that useful but showing someone something via Softspace might be cool. There’s a video here on the channel about it. Thanks for watching bro!
Glad you found it useful. I rarely use AirPods with quest. The Bluetooth /latency is just an awful for me. Ever consider buds with a dongle for low latency/clarity?
So upon further testing AirPods are now distorted when using meta browser. Other games and apps are fine. So either Apple updates or meta has caused the issue. I repaired the pods and that didn’t fix issue either. Was working just fine a few days ago on meta browser ever since getting headset, some latency but not distorting.
@@onmissionforlife5043 ah that makes sense, as I understand it, these apps that use a browser are using some of the code base allowed in the meta os for any “browser function” like chromium. So it could be some incompatibility there. Well I look forward to updates they make as the meta OS rolls out.
aww man you and 1 other person have reported that it doesn't work. others seem to have had success. Can you make sure its ALL lowercase and not spaces before or after? Let me know if it still doesn't work. I'll ask if its still live. I was expecting it to be live by end of day Sunday
If you have a channel of communication with the fluid devs, please ask them if it would be possible to integrate netflix viewing because its not enabled in the regular quest browser. that would be GAME CHANGER on quest!!! :)
@@TheConstruct_VR Great interview btw. It's a great idea, but I hearing Meta is going to change their OS design so this may be obsolete. They did the same with airplay that replaced virtual desktop.
@@viperjay1 Yeah we’ll see where the OS takes us. It’s crazy though virtual desktop still runs so much better than air link I still prefer it. Thanks for watching! 🤜🤛
Thank you for the great recommendation. I Subscribed, I like your video so much. Is there anyway to play your Steam games with Fluid? or will there be? Hope you have a great day, and keep up the great work.
I HIGHLY recommend Virtual Desktop for Steam games. It’s $20 but worth it. Also the Steamlink app and just Quest Air link work fine for steam flat games as well. Welcome to the construct!
All I wanna know is when will meta buy this company so they can incorporate it natively to the quest because what meta has right now sucks big ones lol.
@@artemjetman strange it broke for me because I had the first letter capitalized but all lowercase it worked fine. Go to your environments and make sure. one of your attempts may have worked and you can’t redeem twice. If it still doesn’t work join the discord and send me a screenshot of what you typed in. Discord link is in the description of this video.
I feel like it would be hard to walk around with a bunch of windows blocking your vision. 🤷🏽♂️. I have seen a head locking feature on other apps … so maybe there’s something there…
@@TheConstruct_VR I think it would be better to call it a body lock then a head lock. Heres an example from the game lone echo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LofSYpT9Z6g.html It was really cool being able to place these windows just outside of my field of vision and look to them when I needed to reference them for information. and still have them in the same place as I move around. Another example is Raidens AR video calls ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5l6AhiELS9g.html If I had this feature I would place a window with youtube in my lower right periphery and look at it while I was focused on vacuuming or mopping.
@@johndagdelen3860 If it works the way Im thinking this is omething i definitely want and will be getting this immediatelly. Any examples of the feature so I know what im getting?
Stop indulging apple with these "Spatial Computing", it's AR. Maybe XR if you want, but these "Spatial Computing" is just some flavored way to say this, just to grab $3500 from anyone who finds this interesting. Your product rocks, it's a really good app, but saying this will make look like you're trying to be apple, instead of being fluid.
Spatial Computing wasn’t invented by Apple. But they do that a lot, they adopt a term and make it popular. It’s unfortunate because AR/MR was already around. In the end i think the terminology won’t make much difference years down the road. They went after the name “multi touch” too but now that’s just how we zoom on almost any screen. It’ll smooth out in time.
It is just another web browser, and that’s a shame. If they add a dnla server and media capabilities then it would be much more useable. I found Xbox gaming unusable. Shame. I want to see Fluid become more useable and at the same time moment it’s not quite there yet.
I neglected to add the part of our conversation around file management/usage but it is on the radar, Not sure about DNLA. What happened with XBOX? It didn’t work for me at first so i went to the Official Xbox app and tried and it was broken there too. I wonder if it’s just unstable. The day I shot this it was fine. Not making excuses, Fluid is indeed in early access and it still feels like that in ways.
Thanks for this information on this App. I use my Quest 3 mainly for gaming so doing this kind of thing really is not needed for me. I just go to my desktop view in the Quest 3 and manage items there. Nice to know this exists should I ever need to do something like this. Thanks for the video and take care.
Thanks for watching! I mainly game too (despite the videos on this channel hahah). But this is nice when my wife is using the office or I’m away from home and need 3 screens.
@TheConstruct_VR Thinking the same display. You can have a video in more the one room on different walls. So you can do chores or whatever without missing the video.
@@fluidspatial Not as cool as screen duplication, but it is a very nice feature. It does tend to drift down as I walk around and needs to be repositioned from time to time. Fluid is a great and one of my most used app on Quest.
