Ren has posted about where the video has gone. He bought the beat for Sick Boi off someone in good faith, but has recently discovered that it contained a stolen sample. The original owner of the sample is now trying to extort him for royalties. Ren is perfectly happy to provide some royalties to the owner, even though it's not his fault, but the guy is trying to take more than is reasonable. It's not yet clear where Ren stands legally here.
It's an absolute travesty- he's even demanding Royalties on 100% of the entire album now I understand - absolute greedy Parasite. "Industry is cutthroat..."
He bought a sample, not the entire beat and remixed it too. I'm also pretty sure they're threatening a 100% claim on the song, not the entire album. Still outrageous though, especially as it will affect the album too.
Ren has many styles to his storytelling. Lots of commentary on society. There's 'Money Game', parts 1, 2, and 3. There's 'The Tale of Jenny & Screech', a sad tale indeed. 'Murderer' is more of a reggae style single.

Being misdiagnosed and suffering the effects from treatments and medications and the downward spiral that comes from that, he has a great way describing it in a way that is relatable but also very personal. The RENagades are happy to see you falling in love with this one in a generation artist and that you see what effort he puts in to his art installations.

I love that you give this, and Hi Ren the time to focus on the details, the art, and message. The amazing thing about Ren is that all of his songs are lyrically dense with important ideas and meaning. When I saw Hi Ren, I assumed it was his masterpiece and didn't expect his other work to continue to impress me in a myriad of ways. The Ren journey is deep and wide and all of it will keep continually impressing you. I'm *SO* happy that you've brought Ren back to your channel ❤. I really enjoy your commentary and insights, and particularly your willingness to connect with the music on a personal level. You're probably going to get a bunch of recommendations to do The Tales trilogy (which is, for lack of a better term, is Ren's co-Magnum Opus, along with the Money Games trilogy), but I would recommend maybe one more of Ren's "heavy" songs - "Ren x Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (*LIVE* Version)" because I think you'll connect with it as well. Following that, I think you'd really appreciate another side of Ren, particularly some of his busking, like "Ren & Sam Thompkins - Losing It / Mans World / Falling" (its just 1 video that is a medley of 3 songs). Looking forward to more Ren! 😊

You need to react to a more fun Ren. He was in a band called The Big Push and they did a lot of busking (street performing) and it was outstanding. From some of your reaction videos I get the impression you would love the musicianship and the raw love they all have for the music. I highly recommend Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard, see a different side to Ren and then you can go back to some of his deeper stuff again, can't wait fir Tale of Jenny and Screech, but do something a little lighter from him first, you will fall more in love with him.

15 years ago I was given my first antipsychotic and suffered severe side effects from it and had to stop immediately. I have tried almost 20 antipsychotic sense with similar results from things like waking up feeling like I’ve been eating sand all night. My throat was so sore and raw I couldn’t swallow and could barely speak. Doctor told me to stop immediately. The next one he gave me two days. My chest muscle started to hurt like ache really bad and on the third day I woke up with my T-shirt wet finding that I had been lactating because the medicine apparently could cause an increase in prolactin Even in men so now I know how my girlfriend felt when she was pregnant at least gave me some empathy. Apparently me and auntie psychotics don’t get along very well. The last ones I was on. I think it was risperidone. Did nothing for me at all didn’t make me feel better. Didn’t stop my delusions or hallucinations Didn’t have any side effects so they kept me on them in spite of the fact that they did absolutely nothing. Let’s just add another pill to my list. I’m not saying that everyone should quit the medication that would be foolish of me. Some people need it to survive but for me personally I was a guinea pig a rat in a maze and was becoming more and more addicted to the medication I was taking. In the lyrics of this song, you hear ren talk about building up tolerance. That’s exactly what happens with a lot of medications for mental health and physical pain. The longer you take them the less they work meaning that they have to increase the dosage regularly or semi regularly and in time the same thing happens you grow custom to them and another increase in dosage until eventually you reach the maximum allowable dosage and then when that wears off you’re taking a medication that is doing nothing for you but you cannot quit because you’re highly addicted it is a horrible cycle and millions if not hundreds of millions of people across the world experience it every day and it is sad with all the technology that we have that we can’t do something so simple as make a decent pill and rely on things like morphine which is now killing millions of people each year across the world we are suffering from a painkiller epidemic taking more lives than Covid could ever possibly take and no one is talking about it. It’s people like Ren who are shedding light on these subjects and God I’m thankful for him

It would be bad enough if they were doing this to different artist, but to do this to Ren, someone who is so generous to other artists, is downright despicable. And it will backfire on kujobeats. He could have had Renegades checking him out, but not after this. No one will ever want to work with him because he's proven himself greedy and untrustworthy. He may get some money out of this, but not near what he thinks. If this isn't resolved fairly, Ren says he will never agree to their terms. He will simply remake the song with a different beat. And then I hope the choir who had their sample stolen by kujobeats sues him over copyright infringement and takes every undeserved penny from him
I work in the memtal health field. My conclusion is that our system of care, at least in America, is an economic model of care, not a clinical outcome model. Also, he hits on something that absolutely drives me nuts in this field. We are taught to search for and label symptoms. These, "symptoms," then inform us of a diagnosis. This label, this diagnosis, then informs the treatment. And the treatment is? Yup, reducing the symptoms. So we make up names for clusters of human experience and emotions. Then we specifically point to the emotions and reaction to these human experiences as the problem. This leads to blaming the emotions, thus the attempt to eradicate these emotions. And then we internalize these human emotions (and natural reactions to our world and life experience) as the core problem, not the fact that we live in a world that dehumanizes us at every turn.
If you want to continue with the "mental" stuff try Chalk outlines or How to be me, for more political stuff try Money Game parts 1,2 and 3, story telling try The tales of Jenny and Screetch, all 3 parts in one sitting and for something completely different Swan Song, that will get you a broad idea of his skills.
It's my opinion that a lot of Ren's music is all part of the same opera. In that regard, I think this song is an earlier song in the opera, whereas "Hi Ren" was the crescendo. This is early in his treatment for chronic pain, nausea, and fatigue, and they couldn't find anything wrong with him. So, this woman is hitting him with their conclusion that it's all in his head. As you can see he is trying to be cooperative. But his dark and cynical side never believed her, or any of the doctors. It turns out his dark and cynical side was right, as he was later diagnosed with Lyme disease. We see flashes of his dark and cynical side in this as it is my belief that the recurring pig butcher character is his dark and cynical interpretation of his medical caregivers. It's this dark and cynical side that he is arguing with in "Hi Ren". It's also my belief that the reason his dark and cynical side had such power over him, is specifically because it was right about THIS, the most import thing he ever faced in life.
