Graeme goes Fly Fishing in for trout in what is possibly the clearest trout water in the UK! Chalk Springs has a reputation for incredibly clear water. As a result of the clear water, fed by a chalk spring, the colours and markings on the trout are bright and vivid. They are stunning to look at, and they fight good too! Graeme gets some insight into the fishery as well as some awesome underwater footage. Then he heads out to one of the lakes to test his skill against the Trout!

Hi Greame, great show! Greame could you please do a special about rigging up fly rods. Not just for trout but also to rig up for pike. I always seem to do the wrong thing according to leader lengths and traces.

No,most UK trout fisheries say no trout to be returned.But in clear water you can spot the size of fish you want to target so can go for bigger ones.

Not a rant, why is it you kill them i still don't understand, do they have to be killed for reasons or do you pay to eat them ??

The fishery regulations say fish must not be released.I guess you could say it was a "pay-to-eat" system.There are probably thousands of day ticket trout waters like this in UK.Almost every one has rules stipulating trout must not be returned.I personally would be happy to return every trout,and I know a lot of trout anglers feel the same.

If the fish are caught maybe 2-3 times they become very difficult to catch and the fishing gets really bad. There is a fishery that I used to go to but it's catch and release so the fishing has got really bad and you might not catch anything in a hole day even though there are about 200 fish in a 1 acre lake.

Glow Clan I think catch an release can work as long as u have people still taking the fish too. if half your Anglers do catch and release you need to other half to take fish so that new fish are coming into the water all the time
