Visiting my hometown of traverse city around the last week of July up until the middle of August and I was wondering if I will be able to get into some carp action.... everyone has said it's been abnormally cold in the bays this year and I was thinking I may have a chance... any and all info is appreciated!
Absolutely epic catches. How far into the backing did the biggest one get? Carp should be culled. Do a web search for "carp turbidity." They degrade the water and eat the eggs of native species, too.
tolpacourt yeah I agree. DON'T let any of these things go! The U.S. Fish and Wildlife service lists carp on thier website, as a nonnative, and invasive specie.
Jonathan Chinchilla well common carp actually are not invasive. They are technically classified as non native and very little or even no damage at all to the water sheds. The main problem are Asian carp in the Missouri River.
@94myaccount I use a 9' 7-weight, but anything from you 5-weight trout rod to your 8-weight bass rod will work fine...it's moe about fly size than fish size
