The fish at the ramp comment was hilarious. Got a late start at that same boat ramp a month ago. Landed 5 at the ramp. Then only one all the way down the rest of the river to the takeout. Saw some guys trying to swing them up in 34 degree water. Noticed later in the week they had switched up to indicator and strip casting to finally get the rods to go bendo.
Booked the April king tides back in February and crossed our fingers. The madding crowd booked a week later than normal due to the late run timing last year, so we lucked out.
What a great early morning algorithm RU-vid has this morning. Myself and four of my pals will be in SE Alaska in late April 22. All the way from NY to chase Oncorhynchus Mykiss. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Awesome video man! I was stoked to see one of the guys had a water master as well. Ive been debating between the clearwater and the water master kodiak. You touched on the differences a bit in the video and the rockers and oars on the clearwater as well as the front storage are definitely making me lean towards the clearwater. After your trip, did you guys compare the 2 anymore or feel one was better than the other?
@Gig Harbor Fly Shop Awesome man. Thank you for the quick response. It's hard to find comparisons between the 2(other than a few forums), especially any videos, so you've helped me out tremendously! Looks like the only downfall is I might be the pack mule of the group, which it looked like you were lol! Thanks again, I look forward to checking out future endeavors with the raft (I'll check after this)!
Looks like a great trip, wish the video was a bit longer. Those Clearwater boats look pretty cool. What’s the highest class rapid you’ve taken one through and how did it handle. I’m going to subscribe and check out more of your adventures. Tight lines
Michael, I haven’t taken it down anything crazy yet. I’ll take it out and do a more thorough review on our channel soon. Did you see part 2 of our trip?
Tight is right!! It was a group effort to get it in there and zip it up. It worked out though. But a bag slightly bigger would be great so you could put the oars and more gear in there.
Did you need to upgrade the oarlocks on the outcast clearwater raft? I see that the cataract oars have rope wraps… wondering if the original oar locks from outcast would work?
My typical steelhead net is big. But we were limited on space since we had to fit everything in luggage to fly up there. If I could do it over I would have looked to buy some sort of collapsible net.
