Fly Fishing in Wales - Llyn Clywedog

Join me and my good friend Shane on a day session at Llyn Clywedog, a 615 acre reservoir, in the heart of Mid Wales. Clywedog is an enormous water by welsh standards and it provides some of the best fly fishing that Wales has to offer. I am a little out of practice with this style of fishing as I have had quite a few years off... but we still managed to have a fantastic days fishing resulting in lots and lots of beautiful spotty rainbows joining us on the bank.. we hope you enjoy.

A very atmospheric start in the morning, I loved the scenery and for me it becomes more and more important how or where I catch a fish instead the size of it... Again a cracking video guys, please keep uploading!!!!! Greetings from 🇳🇱 Leon

It was an awesome morning. Real atmospheric as you said. Yeah I agree mate, it’s nice to catch consistently, especially when you have to keep adapting and changing tactics to keep the bites coming. It’s very rewarding and if bigger fish do come along then it’s just an added bonus. I’m glad your enjoying the videos mate, your kind comments are much appreciated 😊 thank you 😂

Cheers mate! Yeah that’s the plan moving forward to be honest, carp fishing will always be the main focus of the channel but we’re very happy to target other species and make some vids as we go.

Awesome mate! Glad you enjoyed it. We’ll be doing a few more fly fishing video in the future. We’ll go into a bit more detail on our tactics etc then as well 👍

Superb video Tom and honestly when I seen it was you making a trout video I looked twice! 👀😂😂 Really enjoyed this, lovely to see local anglers making some brilliant videos! I love my fly fishing, going to Lechlade for a few trips starting Monday hoping for some absolute monsters! Also just been doing a few sessions Pike fishing on the fly also! Amazing sport! Maybe we could arrange a day on the bank some time! 👍🐟

Fly fishing used to be my only interest mate. It’s where my fishing began 😂 Glad your liking the videos mate. Have you ever fished Clywedog? It’s an incredible venue. Some HUGE fish in there too... I believe both rainbow and brown lake records are over 20lb! Check out the pics on their website mate 👌 Yeah that’s be nice! Any venues in mind?

Umm well there is a few nice local lakes I fish regularly but would be amazing for you to have a taste of a day on Lechlade up in Gloucestershire. Beautiful place but vastly overstocked, it's impossible to fail, there are so many stock fish it's too easy, it just gets boring, I used to go a lot but now I have started fishing the mountain llyns for wild brownies.

Yeah I must agree. It’s always had a health’s stocking, or at least it has over the 20 years I’ve fished it anyway. However since they started using petrol motors on the boats it seems to be heavily over stocked and as you say, these days it’s hard to fail. Still a beautiful venue nonetheless and a fantastic day out 👍
