It's not all stocky bashing on Rutland Water. Sometimes you have to work hard to get a fish. Changing tactics and keeping on the move is often the key to catching a fish on big reservoirs.
This morning's fishing on Finches point on the Hambleton Peninsula, helps demonstrate how I approach things when its a bit "difficult".

Hi great video as usual. As you are using the Wychwood rocket taper line. Would u say it is a light line for the atm rating? Would you suggest a line up say using an #8 on a #7 rod or stick to same rating as rod. Hope that makes sense. I found a Cortland 444 #7 too light for my #7 rod but casts good on my #6 rod. Cheers tight lines.

I’m using a 7 with a 7 rated 10 ft Loomis. Works a great. You could go up a grade and arielise even less line before shooting it out.

@@johnp4hc if your using a Loomis it's a fast rod like mine so 7 for 7 would be fine on my Grey's XD platinum comp special I would assume.

Hi, I've watched a couple of your videos now and find them very informative. I will be in the area in early June and am hoping to have a bash at Rutland then but Rutland seems a huge venue on the map and I wonder if all the points you have featured in your videos are within easy carparking or do they need a fair amount of walking to get there ?

They are all places where you can park you car less than 50 yards away. If you buy a day permit the lodge will give you an access code for the gates and a map of where the car parks are. Try end get here earlier in June as the banks go dead later in the month as the fish move into the deeper water.

@@johnp4hc Thanks for your info, wonder if you can help again, is the fishing lodge the only place to get a day ticket or are there places scattered around the lake? I'm thinking its a long way to go if you what to fish in the north arm. Have tried call the lodge buts just going to voice mail. Cheers.

@@BEN10TO10 Yes you need to go to the lodge. It’s open from 8am but usually a queue of people waiting for boats. Let me know a couple of days before you come and I’ll give you some inside knowledge. Make sure it’s early June as the banks switch off towards the end of the month as the fish move into the deeper water.

Both available from Amazon. The Sennheiser plugs straight into the iPhone X via lightning cable and you record into Apogee MetaRecorder. After that you have to transfer to computer synchronize the mic audio to the cameras audio I use 2 Go Pros and then edit in Apple Final Cut Pro or you could use Adobe Premier plus.

@@johnp4hc I was 99% sure it was that. It's a great line. I have it in the energy taper which if even more aggressive. Great lines for the price. I have a sunray competition line that's not as good as this 👍
