In this video we follow Peter on his annual pilgrimage to the Laxa I Kjos river in Iceland for his hosted trip at the end of July 2022. Having had low water years in the past, this year was the opposite, with a deluge of rain on arrival that fined down quickly into some fabulous fishing. Different tactics were called for this year with the weight of water but despite the weather there were two exceptional days that produced 74 salmon with a total of 160 fish for the week.

Wow! I fished the Tungufljot on August 3 and 4th (was fishing other rivers and lakes from July 30). No salmon. Extremely windy conditions even for Iceland. Didn't help that I got saddled with a rookie guide who wasn't even Icelandic! I had complained and was not accommodated. Next time I go I'll be sure to ask about my guide in advance.

They are private and you pay for access…

iceland has to have some crazy fish... its just so many rivers and streams and water sheds and not allot of people lol

Good video thanks that first video seen with ice land with brown water but cleared up fast enough. Great sound out of that old hardy reel that's one of the biggest hates i have got with most modern fly reels now no sound to them.

Great video! Definitely on the bucket list some day! May I ask what fly line you have on your marquis set up? Been looking for a good line for single handed salmon fishing. Thanks and keep up the great content!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I use a RIO Technical trout on my 6# when fishing for salmon in Iceland, but that’s the largest line weight it goes to… for large I would go RIO Gold. I prefer the longer head lines for salmon fishing as it’s easier to single hand Spey cast and roll cast….
