In this video I am showing off my new 30.00 Eagle Claw Fly Rod. Honestly, for the money spent it is a very nice addition to my Fishing arsenal. I haven't caught anything big yet but I'm sure it will work just fine. The Spring snow melt has made the river really deep and fast but I'm not letting that stop me. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Really like mine too, I do prefer glass at times. I'd a huge advocate of crimping the barbs on every fly. The only time it is an issue is for me is sometimes the flies come out of the box.

Got mine at WalMart in 1997 for $11.97 !! I'm a rod builder so I immediately stripped the yellow paint to expose the fine red fiberglass sections. I also upgraded the guides and rod tip and rebalanced the spine. It's been my favorite ever since. I use a DT5wt for dries and soft-hackles and a LL5wt with a 30 lb. stiff butt section for nymph rigs. An awesome little rod!

Glad to see you back making videos! Hope all is well with you and yours? Thanks to your inspiration, I've been doing well with the Tenkara on a local stream. I'm even considering putting it to the test on bigger water. That should be fun. Glad the rod came with an extra tip! Hope to see more vids from you soon...

Haha, I left my streamer in on the river yesterday morning as I walked out, hoping for that last chance bite. Glad you got one that way; never give up till you're on dry land :-)

I bought this a rod a few months ago and I'm sold! I've caught dozens of trout and some decent sized bass on it. I love the slow casting stroke of the glass! I enjoyed the Video keep them up. If the weather in Idaho is anything like Utah it still should be immaculate weather for fishing!

Ya, the weather has been perfect. I've hit the river twice this week and it couldn't be any better!

I agree, I have an old Eagle Claw spinning rod and I hate it But yes, this really isn't too bad

Definitely be careful with the tip! both of the tips that I broke we're trying to get a snag out of a tree. You just have to be gentle. I grab the line, I don't even use the rod to try to get the snag out anymore. Thanks, good luck!

Nice addition to the collection fellow fisherman! Wonder how she would hold up some big old steel head! Ever go after some chrome!?

There aren't too many Steelhead in the Boise but it would be interesting. I would definitely need stronger tippet.

Eagle claws stuff usually is junk and I avoid it but they do actually make a decent working fly rod and lead core trolling rod

Joseph, thanks for the comments! I'll tell you what I'll make a very short video of the streamer and a couple other ones just like it that work really well in the river and I'll put it on RU-vid tonight or tomorrow. thanks, Robbie

I stumbled onto one of these 5/6 weights at Wal-Mart and couldn't pass it up for 20 bucks. I've caught white bass trout bluegill and crappie with it and I'm amazed at how it launches a fly line. bit on the heavy side tho but so what?

Hi, I'm just using a basic Scientific Angler reel. It's cheap but it works. Lol

Fiberglass rods are great for dry flies. They are not so great for nymphing or streamers.

I'm not really using the Eagle Claw anymore but I'll keep it as an extra for other people to use.
