Don't forget to go on the most beautiful train ride on earth, the epic Ella Train. Better to reserve second class seat as soon as possible. Best place to get on to the train , if ypu cpuld book a seat is at Peradeniya railway station.
Sri Lanka isn't anymore travel friendly with new visa changes. You got to hand over tons of personal details to private company to get visa. I'll skip and head to Thailand and other Asian countries where I get 90 days visa free access.
We just applied through the Sri Lanka visa website and it was super easy. It is a shame you only get 30 days though. I do wish it was free but the country needs the money from tourism
@@AbbyandGaz They gonna soon move to private company for handling visa and won't be easy. I don't mind paying a fee just don't wanna give away too much personal details as data security is minimum in these countries.
Blame the Russians, Ukrainians and Israelis who have landed on the island in the recent months and opened up super expensive hostels, resorts and restaurants and evading taxes and overstaying their visas. That's why the news laws have been implemented also a 2 - 3 months ago there was a down south party that went viral which only invited white colored people which made the government furious and made even further new laws You can extend ur 30 day visa after you land here by being physically in the country and extending it through the office in the airport I believe but I'm unsure. It's best to travel rn than later cuz now it's less crowded and you get to experience the hospitality and people The government seeks lots of information to avoid overstaying and engaging in illegal activities cuz there's no other way to track the tourists after they land and leave the airport. Sri lankan government is trying to improve and streamline the process cuz its only in the recent years there is a huge influx of tourism and sri lanka isn't ready with the infrastructure. You can't compare thailand and other countries cuz they are way ahead in terms of tourism just be sensible and give a chance without comparing apples and oranges
It's cuz of many tourists mainly russians and ukrainians plus Isr4lies in the recent times have opened super expensive hostels, resorts and restaurants in the down south and evading taxes plus many are involved in illegal activities And many of them are overstaying their visas and sri lanka still doesn't have the infrastructure to trace them after tourists land and leave the airport. Unlike other countries where digital payments + public surveillance is there to easily trace people sri lanka doesn't have any everything is done by cash transactions and there's no government surveillance and no cameras outside cities even the suburbs. To combat that is why sri lanka have to know who's coming and going out of the country throughly until the proper systems are being developed. Visas can be extended after you are physically in the country through the office in the airport I believe but I'm not sure about it. Another reason why the government made new laws is to protect local businesses plus there was another issue that made headlines that made the government and people furious is so called "whites only party" in the south that caused a huge stir a month ago which is discrimination. Be sensible and don't compare apples and oranges, thailand and many other countries which were already super popular for tourists so it should have the infrastructure as of now but sri lanka only is known in the recent times for tourists. I also advice that right now is better to visit than future cuz this year alone there was a record no. Of tourists and many hotels have jacked up their prices, last week I visited the east and per night per room was $150. Also you will get to experience the hospitality and people before the locals get used to tourists and don't forget most beaches are not crowded except some in the south.
@@udithnuren6546 Don't lie mate, I know Sri Lanka, I was born there...there are thousands of Roads without rail gates...remember last week a car was knocked and people died. Why do they construct tourist hotels at such places in the first place then? Read my comment, without being a typical SL 1diot...I said construct overhead bridges. People who come to SL to bail out your economy don't have experience in such death traps, as we in the UK don't have such experiences, here it's against the law to construct haphazardly.
@@knightofceylon-ms1usThere was no road crossing on the railway track, where these tourists crossed the tracks 😂 Do you cross train tracks or roads wothout any rail crossings or Zebra crossings in UK? 😂😂😂Why dont you make a fund to build a 1000 overhead bridges in Sri Lankan coastal line for tourists to cross the railway tracks? 😂 and then still you will complain 😂 Every 100m on the coastel line you will find a small road that end at the railway tracks, and Sri Lankan coastal line alone runs for 187Km 😂😂😂 My town which is Panadura has only 2 rail gates, They are only for vehicle roads that cross the railway track. Yeh, Your British built these rail lines without any gates here😂 Tell your British government to build these overhead bridges free for the 30000 elephants they killed here 😂😂😂 I bet you dont have Elephant-Train accedents in UK like in SL too 😂😂😂 Why dont you stop being a typical foreign idiot to compare our small 3rd world Island with UK 😂😂😂
