I used to make these. They used to call them Creepy Crawlers. Still have some I made my first "Fly" out of with a hook still in it. 60s are here again.
What is this fly used for? I'm new to fly fishing and I dabble in tying. This looks right up my alley. I generally fish for bluegill crappie and white bass in Arkansas. I may stretch my wings out for walleye but thats down the road, next spring.
They are generally considered trout food but, if you fish rivers or streams your likely to find these in the fast water sections. Stoneflies need allot of oxygen. But where they are found you can bet any fish will eat them.
@@TheFlymanJimalso if you need a barbless hook Firehole Sticks 718 #6 work for the Hemingway medium Stonefly, and I found out You can get the Evolution medium on a Firehole Sticks 718 #8 if you use jamieson spindrift yarn in place of dubbing and don't go crazy with the wire.
