This great pattern imitates a hopper as well as a caddis, and is candy to trout and bluegill in our local streams and lakes. It floats well and is fun to fish. Give this easy to tie pattern a try.
Here's the recipe:
-Size 12-14 dry fly hook
-2mm Craft Foam
-Dubbing to match/contrast foam
-Elk/deer hair wing
-Barred sili legs
-Superglue for durability
My favorite colors to tie and fish them in are tan and green with matching dubbing, orange with black dubbing, and brown with black or matching dubbing.
