You'd need a big stick to keep fish off that fly on a nice breeze in September. The glue on the mylar is a good little tip, it does get cut up with it being plastic. Not daft you North East lads are ya haha. Always enjoy your films Alec, hope this month brings you some nice trout.
Hi Alec Nailed 13 trout on your top hat emerger fly, tied them up last year and forgot to try them out silly me lol, the fishing was tuff today and tried just about everything in my box with little our no sucess, one hr just before my time was up as plenty of fish were sucking on the surface, searched my fly box and found them to my total joy as just about every cast had interest pal. Massive thanks to you pal for sharing your killer pattern. Alec what size hook are you using for your hopper pal?. Tight lines and all the best Peter.
That's great to hear Peter, you will certainly have plenty action on them next spring and summer, You can tie the hoppers on sizes 10 to 16. Normally 14 is a good one to start with 👍🎣🐟
Hi Alex just watched you tie up your Aero wing hopper fly could you use Antron for the wing would it do the same job if you put some floatant on it cheers mate
I find the Antron is much more coarse than the teimco Areo wing and doesn't float as good , but give it a go and see if it's good for you , there are no hard and fast rules in fly tying 👍🎣🐟
