Hey Tim, I ran into you in the parking lot of Spruce Creek a few weeks ago, but didn't realize why you looked so familiar until we were done fishing and I saw the Trout and Feather sticker on your truck. I just wanted to thank you for helping me become the fly tier I am today. -Zach

Now that is too funny, Zach! So you're telling me I should either remove the sticker or get more out there for others so my truck is disguised?!?! ;-) Just kidding, and thanks for the kind words. Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Very informative tutorial. Like easy tie flies and the variation from other Zebra Midge Flies. Going to tie this for sure and maybe I'll catch a fish..

Hi Tim, nice tutorial. I met an acquaintance of yours at our state fair, Jim Green. He was tying flies at the wool pavilion where I stop every year to check out the wool and see if the tyer is there. They use the wool the ladies dye. Great stuff. We talked for about an hour. He said he met you at one the shows, unless it was through Healing Waters. He's the program lead for this area. Nice man, he lives not too far from me to boot! Take care buddy.👍😎 PS I had spaghetti stuffed meatballs with sauce. Awesome. They had a food truck competition.

Hi Joe, and very cool story! Are you planning on getting involved in PHW there, too? We have an event this weekend my family is considering attending (if it stops raining!). Also, I need a recipe for those meatballs, or at least an invite to the food truck's next location! Ciao! Tim www.troutandfeather.com

@@TimCammisa Hi, so do remember Jim Green? I believe he met you maybe at the Somerset show? At first he said it was Jim Misiura when we talked about you tube fly tiers, then he mentioned the coffee mug, talking, etc I said you mean Tim Cammisa! Yeah that's him, he wants to fish the Salmon River with me, but he's a teacher, I don't know when we can go. He gave me his business card, PHW Syracuse Program Lead. I have no plans on getting involved in the program, but I met another gentleman that stopped by and talked with us that Mr Green knew. He said he helped him through fly fishing and tying. Anyway he was very nice, knowledgeable too. So do you know him? As far as the meatballs go, I didn't get a recipe, sorry. My Dad's family made polpettone, a big meatball stuffed with a hard boiled egg wrapped with a slice of ham (of your choice). Really like a mini meat loaf. I've made them before. We're usually meatball/sauce biased when it involves family dishes, as a former neighbor told me, they're good, but your sauce was fantastic! And it was. There's hundreds of recipes online, just experiment and tweek to your liking. Take care buddy, let me know if you remember Jim Green, he certainly knows you. For now say a prayer, today is 9/11...

Hi Joe, and I absolutely remember Jim's name, but honestly can't remember meeting him. I know that he's very involved with PHW and has won an award for it. Thanks for checking, and the info about the mini meat loaf! Tim

Hey Tim, Semper fly makes a 18/0 thread that is tougher than any thread I have used. It does not build up but won't break either. You can bend the hook before you break the thread. I think it is GSP but can't be sure because it is so thin it is hard to see if you are not tying onto a hook. All the best, Sean
@TimCammisa
@TimCammisa 5 лет назад
That sounds like some great stuff, Sean, and I'm always on the hunt for quality thread. Another one I like to use is UNI Trico thread, which is their 17/0. I was using some other threads the other night to replicate Jake's pattern, and they built up way to quick (though probably more my fault than the thread!). I hope all is well, and thanks for the comments. Tim www.troutandfeather.com

Thanks for the video and for the fly idea. Now, I know that it doesn't matter if the fly works, but I am curious about why the fly has a tail. Midge larvae don't, and I assume that that's what it's supposed to imitate. Or is intended to represent a small mayfly nymph?
@TimCammisa
@TimCammisa 4 года назад
That's a great question, Alex, and I believe it has multiple answers...therein the pattern's effectiveness. The flash can simply be a trigger or hot spot, though can also represent an emerger shedding its shuck. The material may also keep bubbles attached when underwater, and in the simplest form, represent a tail (for a mayfly) or long legs or antennae (caddis). Hope that helps, and if you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
