The Carey Special, a stillwater classic. This is a great attractor pattern to strip around weed beds when the trout are eating dragonfly & damselfly nymphs.

A tip….You could have used hackle pliers to rib the floss while stretching it a little to correct the slip!

you are tying with the vise jaws upside down.and you don’t have to snip off the tip of the Pheasant hackle, the tip can be part of the hackle collar.

@@brokentippet yep, seriously, but whatever works is good. heck i stated tying flies when i was ten years old on a homemade vise made from a wooden dowel and wing nut.

I spun it around and gave it a try, but it seems foreign to me now lol! That's an awesome idea for a vice, very rustic for sure
