I've owned the clamps and prepper since they both came out and it never dawned on me what I can put in them. Thanks again! This series is EXCELLENT! and I've been since the mid nineties. Great work, guys!

As always, a super-helpful skill builder, Cheech! So regarding CDC puffs, onetime I needed to tie CDC collars on flies. I had puffs but no feathers. I made a dubbing loop, inserted a couple of puffs and cut the stem above the base. I was then able to spread the fibers more evenly in the closed loop and wrap. Worked really well. Thanks for providing these tutorials! They help me immensely!

I once was able to go on a ride along with a bunch of waterfowl biologists, banding ducks and screening for virus on the Yakima WLR. Each duck I processed got a little extra procedure, and I came home with a bag on CDC. All the same color, however.

I got the 2" clamp when it first came out. It's a cool tool. In fact, some guy in Orem, UT, sold it to me, too. I forget who that guy is, but he looks like Fly Tying Moses. Kidding aside, these Skill Builder vids have been hitting it out of the ballpark, that is, if you like baseball.I don't but its still a good term to use. I have been tying Slumpbusters, and the tool is great for making an even cleaner collar on the fly.

A few years ago, there was a lot of enthusiasm for snowshoe hare as a substitute for CDC. I tried it and it seemed good at making small dries that were much more durable than CDC. It sometimes seemed that CDC dry was only good for one fish. The CDC would get slimed and wet, and not much good unless you cleaned it out and dried it until the next day. Is there still an enthusiasm for snowshoe?

Snowshoe is great but in my opinion it’s a completely different material than CDC. Both r great for dries with pretty different applications.
