Nice pattern, thanks guys! I do a cicada for my local Aussie bass, one thing I've found is that it's important to have dubbing or chenille around the under body to soak up some water and sit lower in the film like you have done. A lot of cicada patterns that are just foam sit too high, so when the fish hit them they knock the fly out of the way as it's too light and buoyant. Better hook up rate if it's a bit lower and heavier in my experience, not sure if the same applies to trout. :)

As soon as you guys get the Sybai flat wire in stock to sell, I'll be done to get some as well as the Fettuccine Foam and whatever else catches my eye in your great fly shop. If Cheech is around, I'll try to remember to show him what I do with the videos of flies that I want to tie. On this Cicada, would adding some red eyes be worth the effort?

Cheech, you rock! But I was surprised you did NOT utilize that multi-tool to tighten up the black ice dub. Was that because the fly by design should have looser fibers on its underside? I ask because I have not ever seen a cicada where I live.
