Hi, looks like a good bomb to use on the Tongariro river, I will tie a few but will use peacock herl for the head as I don't have your material. Thanks for the great idea. Harera!

+Piere Vojzola I'm sure it will work as well there as in Sweden. I would really like to hear how it goes. Peacock herl is a great substitute, just make sure to get your thread through a couple of times to really secure it. Tight lines!

Oh I didn't even notice that, well seems that Hanák doesn't make the strongest hooks.

Hi, tied six flies and caught two wild rainbow trout (they were small 2 1/2 pound hens, fresh run up river) using this type of nymph but gave up using these flies as I found the Hanak hooks bend at the tip. I liked the way the flies sunk quickly in the fast water and the way they presented but got fed-up with the tips blunting so quickly. I will try again using Japanese hooks that are made of better metal. Let you know how I get on next time. We fished the Tongariro, the Tauranga-Taupo and the Hinemaiaia rivers for six days and had some great nymph fishing. Harera from NZ

Oh really nice with the fishing and sorry to hear about the hooks bending. I will have to test them out even more and if I find the same result, I will have to change them too. Thank you for the comment, it is always nice to hear some fishing stories. All the best to you and better luck with the new hooks.
