Hey Guys!
So i attempted to vlog abit of my life working as a fifo utility, im here majority of my time as i work 2 weeks on and 1 week off so i thought it may be kinda cool for some people to see where i work! its so messy and i wish it was more interesting but theres literally nothing more i could film other than more food... which i so so wish i did, i tried my best and im still learning to edit so i really hope you enjoyed, PLEASE let me know what you think! xxx

Well Rayne I've been in Port hedland for a month now doing fifo and I'm waiting on my medical to pass so I can start driving roadtrains. That's taken sooo long but I'm here now. I've gotta job lined up in Queensland if I want it. But your vlog is really awesome.

are you still doing utility? get a few tickets to work on the mine itself mate. i worked utility before and actually found it more stressful and harder work than working on the mines plus the pay is so much better too if you dont mind getting red from the iron ore and sitting in the crib room for ages lol good luck

Hey! Thankyou for the advice and I definitely agree with you on the stress levels haha, I ended up working drill and blast on the blasting side which is good fun! Only left due to maternity leave but I miss it every day, was the best job I’ve ever had

It's about 26 dollars per hour and 56 on holidays.

yes Gabriela was quite right! I was on the same! when you go on the actual mine pay can increase, I was on $45 an hour doing drill and blast

what do you do on the site. what is your job? and how easy is to get a job with an electrical engineering degree with no experience of mining.

I was utility here, most recently in drill and blast on the blast crew, I think if you have a degree you definitely have a good chance of securing a great position! if you have mining experience or not! :)

Luana Reti hey! My uncle and dad work fifo and thankfully I was lucky enough to be referred by them and then handed my resume in as normal and got the job with the experience I had and I used to do a lot of utility = kitchen hand and camp cleaning and stuff and now I’m permanently an admin up on site :)

Reagan the sites I have worked on have all been Telstra but they should also have SIM card and such for whatever they have onsite, most sites will have wifi somewhere but some have had it in the camp but not in the rooms where others have it available everywhere! ☺️

I honestly just looked on seek, they are desperately hiring after the vaccine mandates as they lost a lot of workers! so sorry for the late reply but thought it may help someone else! I made sure to have my manual license and just said yes to any swing they offered if it wasn't too crazy

I was doing utility in this video but have just gone on maternity leave and was most recently doing drill and blast so I worked with a lot of the drillers! very very cruisey gig!

Wow the 9am to 9 pm must be tough going and then Ur mates annoying U on a Fri/ sat night is even harder , teasing U with selfies at the nite club , U weren't in the mood , are U allowed beers on site for Ur last night of shift ? have U guys got Netflix on site ? Are the tv sets up for airplay ? Interesting video , thanks for sharing it with Curious trade people like me , oh and the canteen food looks good , I could see the delight in Ur face when going to the plane , was that a 2 week on / 2 off roster ? We’re allowed beers after any day but there’s limits so we don’t get carried away, Netflix no so I take up a laptop - that was a 2on 1 off roster. Fave roster is 8 days on 6 days off - so week on week off, and I’ve only done admin and utility but have just gotten a blast crew job so I’m now on the mine which will be very different

logical nutjob some people knew I was filming and didn’t care others asked to be careful what I film and to not get anything like documents and such in the video which was common sense and I just respected everyone’s decisions on what I could and couldn’t show ☺️

back when I made this video I was kitchen utility, so I helped prep for dinners and breakfast, my shift was 4am-4pm so I covered the breakfast shift and prepped for the dinner time!

it was just a stepping stone to a fifo role that's definitely worth the small sacrifice to set myself up :) eventually I can stay and work in the city at home in their offices! all for the bigger picture! the younger i start the longer i could earn good money at home! definitely not for everyone though!
