This is not a very good video. However, I was interested in showing the lathe milling attachment that I made and the other added tooling that allows me to make my own spur gears. I cast most of the parts and the gear blank out of aluminum. The parts were all machined on this lathe. The methods I used to prepare the blank followed what is in the Gingery book #6. The cutting tooling set-up is a copy of what I saw on another youtube video. It is whited out but an 11" diameter paper circle with a 64 lines radiating from the center is on the top. After each cut I rotate the post including the sprocket and top wheel to the next line. The fly cutter is a broken drill bit set into a 3/4" round bar and set screwed in place. I used a bench grinder to grind the end to match one of my factory gears. This lathe is an old Craftsman 109 lathe that I got at an auction a couple months ago where it was missing all of the change gears.
