Shoutout to www.youtube.com/@boombaka for telling me about the Flydigi products in the first place. Check out his channel for some gyro gaming content! THERE WAS AN ERROR IN MY TEST! The polling rate of the Vader 3 Pro is in fact 500Hz, as long as you use the "Dongle Mode" with Wire or Wireless. My test at the end was in "Bluetooth Mode" with Wire and Wireless, hence the lower than expected results. Also, I'm relatively new to the product review scene, so please let me know what you thought and how I could improve! Thanks for stopping by!
What more can you do?! bro what else can we ask for i mean your doing it better than a channel with like 14 million SUBS! just by fixing your information when you have found it to be incorrect is the type of transpernacy we respect and and along with with building trust with you as a creator, especially when we come to you man to see the info which may or may not influence a number of us to trust your word and open our wallets to pay a company that i hope deserves it and is why i came to inform myself on your channel so i know wether a company deserves or doesnt deserve my hard earned money. so thank you. and LTT needs to take some notes!
Vader and Gulikit have the feature of recalibrating the center position of the sticks (in the case of Vader, you need to recalibrate the entire sticks and triggers, but the center position of the sticks will also be calibrated). Use it wisely and then the dead zones can be further reduced. It's just that if the sticks are not centered correctly and a dead zone is set, for the camera or cursor to move in different directions, unequal physical movement of the stick itself will be required, this is not great.
Nice, thanks for the tip! I can confirm the deadzone is even tighter now after calibrating my thumbsticks and triggers by holding Start+Select+Dpad-Up to start calibration.
Sega invented it? First of all The Sega Saturn had hall effect sticks first (although nobody seems to remember because the console was not as popular). Second you say Sega invented it. I know you probably mean that they inveted hall effect use for thumbsticks? But in that case you would say that they implemented it on controllers, and not invented. After Sega had used them everybody else went with cheap potentiometers instead. Eventhoug companies that are small (like gulikit) can implement hall effect stick cost effectivly in a cheap controller. Look at flydigi. the have a controller called the vader 3 pr( $80) it has hall effect sticks, hall effect triggers (with a trigger lock that slides in a mechanical mouse switch). mechanical face buttons, and 4 rear buttons. Maybe the build quality is not up the same level as controller like the dualsense or the dualsense edge. But it does have more features. I have both a vader 3 and a vader 3 pro. plus i got theire older apex 2 controller. wich also has mechanical face buttons and triggers ($95). But it lack the hall effect stick. But the upside is that it is completly remapable in rewasd. So i can put unique button inputs on the back instead of copies from buttons that are already avaiable elsewehere on the gamepad.
I broke my joystick few times ago and I didnt feel to buy a new one soon. But this could be the alternative Im looking for! Thanks you for your work and sharing!
I know right? Not only does this thing beat those other controllers in price, but also longevity with its hall effect thumb sticks. It still blows my mind
I've been owner of a Flydigi Apex 2 for over a year. Somewhat higher tier gamepad and not exactly the same but still oddly cheap, but I can now confidently say the price is just ok for what it is. Overall build quality is nice looking and all but very (I mean really) fragile to collision. Also been working fine for a year-or-so, then it started having weird conectivity problems just to PC and Console devices. No longer working tried BT, 2.4, wired... Only working on Android mode. Everything comes at a price
You know what, I actually ended up re-buying a second Vader 3 Pro and giving it another chance and guess what? Now I love it. Turns out I *did* receive a bad early build, because all of my complaints about "rattling buttons" are completely gone now. Of course I still dislike that my early buy didn't turn out well, but whatever, shit happens. Now I'm using this new Vader 3 Pro and I am loving it. Zero rattling, and an excellent controller.
The thing that bugs me it still polls slower than my dualshock 4 in bluetooth mode :( I just tested DS4 and it avg: 7.38ms @ polling rate: 135.36hz // For comparison: King kong pro 2 bluetooth mode was AVG: 29.53ms @ Polling rate: 33.86hz UPDATE: Just saw your pinned comment about the polling rates. I just ordered one and will test its polling rate when I get it. UPDATE 2: I bought the 2.4ghz dongle for my KK2 Pros and the AVG: 17.06ms @ Polling rate: 58.60hz
Even with slight drift 0.0 dz is worth using especially with this because the drift will be consistent compared to overtime with an alps 0.0 becomes more and more unplayable
@@Tuuvas it will be. i just spoke to someone on the rewasd team. they stated that they still dont have the full techical specs of the flydigi vader 3 or vader 3 pro. flydigi needs to work with them to get it supported. I just hope flydigi or rewasd will work togher soon to get it supported by rewasd. i now use a dualsense edge and can map the back buttons on steam or rewasd. this only work when you have enabled the default profile on the edge. The vader 3 and the pro have actually clicky triggers and face buttons. and it has 4 back button instead of 2 paddles. it would be better if i can map the 4 back button to anything other then copies of existing buttons.
@@viden7629Yes i know, but you will be limited to either d or x input (i dont know the exact difference). You caneven remap the buttons to unique keyboard keys (inputs that are not avaiable anywhere else on the controller)with the app on this input mode and i can use the gyro, i know. But theire is no flick stick option. But what i am looking for is full support from a input remapper called rewasd. Rewasd should be able to use the ios mode so i can use gyro and i can remap the buttons plus i can put the right stick on flick stick. atleast that is how other gamepads from flydigi can be remaped on rewasd. with theire flydigi spacestation you dont get flick stick. and the customosation for the gyro is not as good as you get on rewasd. For the switch mode you are limited to copying already existing inputs to the back buttons. With rewasd and the flydigi spacestation) you can bind uniuqe inputs to the back butons. So right now, because of the lack of rewasd support i use the switch mode and just create a back button profile on the pc app in the switch mode. This works the same as any other gamepad that has programable buttons. you can only copy already existing inputs. With rewasd i normally use the face buttons for weapon slots and i tend to bind the face button actions to the back buttons. so i can switch to 8 weapons on physical buttons (no weapon wheel needed). and i can jump, crouch slide and interact with the keys on the back.
Any thoughts on the D-Pad? Didn't see it mentioned in the video. I don't use Dpad much at all these days, but curious none the less. Gulikit KingKong 3 was revealed earlier today, btw.
Yeah I literally just saw the pictures of the king kong 3 literally right before seeing your comment lol. It looks great, and initial paper specs are promising. I'm definitely curious. As for the dpad, it's clicky and tactile; however it's possible to press all 4 directions at once due to lack of a center pivot point. This is not ideal for things like fighting games as you'll find yourself accidentally pressing inputs you didn't mean to. That said, it's not a deal breaker. Just something to consider.
Does the controller save the app setting changes, so you can just use it with Bluetooth AFTER having reprogrammed it via dongle or cable as needed? Except for keyboard keybinds, as you mentioned.
Yup! As long as the binds you setup can be found on the controller, those settings get saved for future use even on a Bluetooth connection. This includes things like expanded button binds for toggling gyro.
This is the best controller for 50 to 60 bucks. The overall quality is great, and also packs in the "premium" technology such as vibration or trigger stop. Nothing can beat this quality + this pricing
Dammit! Order placed 😂 Well done, Tuuvas! Any chance of updated DCS maps for this bad boy? Your guides were a game-changer for me (literally) allowing me to sim from a laptop on the move, thank you!
Just a heads up - the Amazon link contains the Vader 3, but it shows the "non-Pro" version by default even though I specifically chose the "Pro" version before generating the link. If you do buy the controller, make sure it's the Pro version if you want Hall Effect thumbsticks. Otherwise, the non-Pro version is the same but without Hall Effect thumbsticks and without impulse triggers for individual trigger rumble. As for layouts specifically for the Vader 3 Pro? Nahhh lol, it's far too much work to account for so many different types of devices. Maybe I'll do a "this is my favorite config" video and showcase the Vader 3 Pro again, but that's probably as far as I'll go.
@@Tuuvas Maybe you can do just "what to change" to the layout if you have the Vader, comparing to the original layouts? Like additional buttons and Gyro? Rest of the mapping shall be the same I suppose.
Can play with the controller connected to the computer's USB continuously? I have some doubts how good the Bluetooth and battery life. I bought mine today, I'm looking forward to testing it on FIFA and FM22 xD
Hi, thanks for the review and I'm finding myself wondering what the build quality of the flydigi is compared to standard mainstream controllers? I did watch another video and it said that the nonpro is made of three fairly cheap feeling plastics of differing levels of quality and wondering if you share a similar sentiment?
Yup yup, I saw that in Gamer Heaven's review. He's got WAY more experience with a number of different controllers, so I would respect his opinion way more than my own. That said, regarding mainstream controllers like Xbox Series S|X or PlayStation DualSense controllers? I personally do not find that they feel cheap. Based on that, I'd say the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro is on par with the Xbox Series S|X controller feel-wise. Then it exceeds Xbox when you realize there's also microswitch buttons, hall effect thumbsticks, and extra rebindable buttons.
Unfortunately no, the gyro can only be configured via their software since steam only sees this as an xinput device. That said, you can likely use "Pro Controller" mode to configure the gyro in Steam, but you lose the analog triggers since it's a Switch Pro controller at that point. I'll have to double check on that pro controller part in Steam though
@@fernandabatalha5565 Yup! Just make sure you configure your gyro settings using the space station app and save. From there on, the gyro should just work when setup for left or right joystick. Note: the app must be running if gyro is set up for mouse control within the space station app.
I have this controller and its great, but a steam controller two would be a dream for me the only issue I had with the original steam controller was I felt it needed a right stick as well as the left
Is there a huge difference between the flydigi vader 3 and the flydigi vader 3 pro? Looks like the pro version is out of stock on Amazon, but from what I can see I'm not finding a difference?
Nice video but I'm a pc "STEAM" user so I would like to know when this controller is connected to STEAM in BIG PICTURE MODE does it allow you to customize everything including the peddle & extra buttons (every button)??...with dongle and Bluetooth.
No. To Steam, this controller simply looks like an Xbox controller. You will have the same customization options in Steam that a normal Xbox controller has.. meaning, no gyro customization, no back paddle customization, etc. All this must be done in the Flydigi space station app
I've yet to experience it myself, but the thumbsticks do feel a little looser than they used to. The sticks aren't drifting yet using my current deadzone settings, but I can foresee needing to increase the deadzone at some point
Cool, is it a great gyro steering wheel for Forza, GTA 5 w/ analog braking and analog acceleration for more driving precision? What's the best gyro gamepad you've used by the way? God bless.
I'd say it's a good enough gyro for those, yes. And it does have analog triggers, allowing for precise braking and acceleration. But that said, the best gyro I've ever used is the PS5 DualSense gyro. It is incredibly accurate, and can even detect the smallest movements for added precision.
@@Tuuvas I should buy the DualSense instead of the Vader 3 Pro? Or the technology in Vader 3 Pro isn't that significant to the Dualsense- which would you buy?
If you're going to be using your controller A LOT, then I'd say pickup the Vader 3 Pro simply due to the hall effect thumbsticks. You'll never have to worry about stick drift. But if you don't think you'll use the controller that frequently, then DualSense should last you a long while despite using potentiometer thumbsticks. Plus its adaptive triggers are actually pretty nice for games that support them. I personally would go Vader 3 Pro simply because it's an Xbox style controller. I prefer that design over PlayStation's
@@Tuuvas Thanks. How far apart is the Vader 3 Pro's gyro performance as a steering wheel & chopper simulator for DCS & Forza, is it frustrating to use vs. Dualsense? Thanks again. I heard about reWad have used that?
@@Tuuvas Has the problem been firmware updated yet since 5 months ago btw? Hi so true, it has the better layout (I wonder if the touch of the DualSense is useful for PC gaming?) the Xbox is the spiritual successor of the Dremcast , Microsoft provide the CE OS for Dreamcast (the Dreamcast controller is the first ever controller to have Hall Effect, 26 years ago! They made it most like specifically for the first ever open-world Shenmue, making Shenmue's character Ryo the first ever character to be controlled with Hall Effefct: :-)) The Dreamcast's controller carried over to the Xbox's DNA (offset dual analog stick and YXAB button layout). Vader 3 Pro then perhaps used. I'm having a hardtime choosing the DualSense coz' it's hard to know which are genuine online (I don't mind the clones the the fakes, the counterfeit, copying the Sony logo is draining), at least Vader 3 Pro has no fake coz' it's already from the source- Shenhzen. God bless.
I want to fly mine in MSFS 2020 but only using the gryo. I set it up in the flydigi software but when i use MSFS 2020 it does nothing in game. And i do have the fly digi software running. Also is there a way that make the joysticks not sense a return to center? Its hard to fly when the joystick dips down and it makes my plane dip also. lol
Vader 3 Pro hands down. That said, the King Kong 3 Pro was recently announced, so maybe keep an eye out on that. I don't know when it will be released.
It can be a one-and-done with Flydigi's software if you map the M1, M2, M3, M4, C, and Z buttons to existing controller buttons like A, B, X, Y, LB, RB, dpad, etc; however, anything mouse or keyboard related NEEDS the Flydigi software to be running.
Hi tuvaas, do i need necessarily the steam edition of dcs to have "clickable" buttons in the cockpit? I noticed i have also other problems, i set up my gamepad like you and verified multiple times, for example i can't shoot the cannons with the left bump neither if it's correctly selected, i have to switch to ground attack mode and then fire it with the right bumper, can't understand why! Love your videos
"Clickable" buttons in the cockpit is only available in "High Fidelity" modules like the F/A-18C, Ka-50, AV-8B, AH-64D, etc. But aircraft like the Su-25T or any found in the Flaming Cliffs 3 pack are "Low Fidelity", meaning no clickable buttons in the cockpit. It doesn't matter if you're using Steam Edition or not for this. It's all about the specific aircraft you're using. As for your cannon issue, that's exactly how the Su-25T is designed to work. You cannot use the cannon unless you're in a combat mode (ex. Air-to-Ground mode) and select the cannon.
@Tuuvas, love the content man and thank you for all the controller info with DCS esoescially for us budgeted virtual pilots. hopefully you could see this question of mine and help me before i make a wrong decsision lol, but are you saying this Flydigi Vadar 3 Pro would be your #1 choice for a DCS game pad? im torn with the choice from your other video on the ranked controllers for DCS.. Anyways thnks for the content man keep it coming man lol
The Syozen Z2 by Sunwaytek is still the best bang for the buck imo. However it does have some glaring flaws that some people may not be able to look passed. Overall though? Yes, the Vader 3 Pro by Flydigi is my number 1 pick. It does nearly everything right and still comes in at under $100. It's honestly a fantastic controller. If you can afford it, go for the Vader 3 Pro.
Dude did you really just answer my Q at 2am mountain time? lol you are awesome dude and i appreciate it so much been sitting here reading and watching review after review and im not too worried with the price just seriously need a HOTAS substitute until i can get what i want wiht that. Are you able to tell me if there is any differences in the Flydigi Vader 3 and the Apex 3 besides the obvious with price and the lil screen on it? would either one of them be better in your opinion for a HOTAS setup for DCS strictly? or are they the same controller hardware wise? again thanks for the crazy awesome response time lol @@Tuuvas
Lol it's no biggie. You happened to catch me as I'm winding down for the night. It's about 1am for me now. I think there are 2 big benefits of the Vader 3 Pro over the Apex 3. 1. Additional C and Z buttons that can be bound to keyboard keys using Flydigi's space station software 2. Hall Effect thumbsticks that will never suffer from stick drift
Well i wsnt expeting you to save me money also man lol your input has been truely appreciated and im glad i caught ya before you fell asleep. Again bud thank you have a great evening @@Tuuvas
Have you tried the xbox elite core 2? With the additional underneath buttons (pallets)? You loose the ability for the gyro custom device but... Maybe it worst it?
The Xbox Elite Core 2 has 4 paddles, but so does the Vader 3. Although, they're less "paddles" and more like "buttons" on the Vader 3. Still the same effect in the end. Because of this, overall the Vader 3 Pro is a much better option over the Xbox Elite Core 2.
@@Tuuvas I followed your first advice with the syozen z2. I will see if it pass the threat of fire : my son's patience! I will consider the vader 3 later ;p Thanks for your work! And if you have more tips for ultra noobs like us, well...
Yup! That'll be next on the list for gamepad reviews. It was actually planned first, but I was just way too impressed by the Vader 3 Pro so I had to push it ahead
is there a way to pair this with the xbox console? bcz I purchased it and after that I figured out works only for PC, that is ok but I would like to use it in my xbox as well
Vader 3 Pro for me. The only interesting thing to me in the Apex 3 are the force feedback triggers. But I'd rather have more buttons for a lower price than less buttons for a higher price.
@@ralphbique8316 Vader 3 is not yet fully supported by reWASD. They're working on it, but currently no ETA. As for mediatek/infinix - no idea. That's a question for Flydigi's support team.
Hey tuuvas, i know this video is about another topic but I have question regarding dcs with gamepad. i have a problem with left and right bumper modifier I have the bumpers set mouse click on ds4 windows and modifiers in dcs and it works fine with cursor clicking but it doesn't work as modifier any solution to this ?
Unfortunately it's difficult to know for sure what's going wrong without seeing your configuration. My first recommendation is to make absolutely certain you've followed my DS4Windows tutorial 100% accurately
Does anyone have weak vibration in nintendo switch mode (d input) like my v3p? I even max the vibration but it can't vibrate strong compare to the pc mode (x input)
Can you pleaseeee do a controller layout for CubanAce’s Su-57 felon? I want to fly it but can’t because I’m solely on controller and don’t have a hotas or the keyboard keys to operate it fully.
If you're in the market for a new controller, I'd say so. For me, the additional buttons and tighter thumbsticks were enough a reason to pick this up despite already owning a King Kong 2
Absolutely, as long as you don't play on an Xbox console. Vader 3 Pro does NOT support Xbox nor PlayStation consoles. The only way around this is to use an adapter
Bloody brilliant video, could we have an additional video of how to convince the wife I need another pad? 😂 Also, obligatory Flydigi Apex 3 Wireless Elite video when?
@@Tuuvas ok bro, thanks! Can you make a tutorial on how you fix the drifting of center stick, the issue of vader 3 pro..im planning to get this controller..thanks!
@@BOUNTYEATER it's pretty simple. Just make sure you're using a deadzone of at least 3% in the Space Station application. By default it uses 5%, so out of the box you don't have to worry about any drifting
Hall Effect thumbsticks will not get drift in the same way potentiometer thumbsticks would. The only way hall effects would is from their recentering spring going weak
Sure, although I'll probably do that in a rather long stream session probably this weekend. In the meantime, I recall another reviewer saying they got about 8 hours of play, but I could be mistaken.
Too expensive. I just want a great controller like Logitech F310 but with hall effect instead of potentiometers. The F310 is so good except for the fact that it gets stick drift and breaks every 3 months or so because potentiometer controllers fkn sucks.
Hall effects can still get drift. It's just not caused by potentiometers going bad, but instead recentering springs becoming weak. So yeah, still hall effects.
@baarg8672 I have both and Vader 3 Pro is still my preferred way to play. That said, the Vader 4 Pro is coming out soon and is looking to be a great combination of the Vader 3 Pro and Apex 4. It has all the buttons of the Vader 3 Pro while also gaining new thumbstick tension adjustment similar to the Apex 4!
At least say clearly that you are paid. No one is happy about a thank you card in Chinese...except you are Chinese. For deliveries outside of China it should be at least in English. That's why Chinese companies usually install those "small business companies" in countries for Amazon. The stick feathers are said to be weak. What means the sticks will get some quick stick drift. The configuration tool...it's amazing. You can really put nearly everything on the controller. Keyboard keys, mouse keys. amazing. As you seem to play flight games I think you can understand that. (or was that even ArmA...game is a pain in the ass with its controls) The controller has a on the fly switch profiles. But...my tool looks different. I only have 4 profiles to chose from while you seem to have a profile for every game. strange that they changed that? At least for me, you have to go to "Function settings" and activate "Quick switch configuration". Then you can switch through your 4 profiles with Select+ A, B, X or Y. Kind of cool especially for games like ArmA. As you can switch between your driving and flying setting. Having game related profiles would be really cool. But that controller is already much better than everything else on the market. Except maybe the xbox pro controller 2. But that also sometimes comes with faulty sticks. (I got such one and it's way too expensive to get garbage) You are completely wrong with the price. 80 bucks is the same price the core version of the Xbox pro 2 will cost you. When buying the loading station and a travel case for the Vader you are at the same price as with the Xbox 2 pro controller that has all included. So it's not less expensive. It's as expensive as every other high quality controller on the market. Well...high quality is strange to say as all brands have huge problems with sending out faulty products. When looking at more critical tests that also take the controller apart and test it for some time they all complain about the sticks. The feathers are too weak and that's what causes stick drift...hall effect my ass is all I can say to that. Anyways. If it holds until the battery is fucked it holds long enough. Usually that's why Hall Effect sticks are a scam from the get go. Before I had a Logitech F310 Controller. It held for 19 years. All I had to do to fight stick drift was cleaning the contacts from the sticks. Opening it up, getting all the dirt out. Dust, hairs and stuff. And then it worked. After over 19 years cleaning didn't really worked anymore. So when you ask me, the entire Stick Drift nonsense is exaggerated to advertise Hall Effect sticks. Now tell me. Will any controller with inbuild batteries hold for that time? If it holds for 5 years I count myself lucky.
"At least say clearly that you are paid." I was not. Nor was this controller sent to me by Flydigi. This review contains only my own thoughts and opinions on this device that I purchased with my own money and received no money for. Any differences you see between this 11 month old video and what you see today are likely thanks to updates from Flydigi on the software side. Nearly a year later, I still have the same 5% deadzone I have always used on this controller. Do the recentering springs feel weaker? Honestly, it's hard to say without a brand new Vader 3 Pro to compare it to, but this controller continues to be my favorite controller to use to this day. It will likely only be replaced by the Vader 4 Pro. I'm not sure what you mean by "You are completely wrong with the price. 80 bucks is the same price the core version of the Xbox pro 2 will cost you." Are you referring to something that isn't the standard Xbox Series/Core controller? Because that's what I'm comparing this controller to. It's just the normal white xbox core controller that comes with a series X/S console... can you please clarify here?
Yeah.. I made sure to update everything before recording, so I'm not sure what's up with that. It could be because I was forced to use the "Bluetooth" mode switch on the back in order for the polling rate checker to detect the controller. It's possible it gets to full 500hz on "Dongle" mode wired/wireless compared to "Bluetooth" mode wired/wireless
@@DoomAxe48 Yep, confirmed. Not sure what was going wrong during my testing yesterday, but the polling rate checker refused to find my controller on dongle mode. Tried again today on wireless dongle mode and got: Min 0.525400 ms - Max 1436.772500 ms - Jitter 0.388347 ms Average 1.942592 ms - Polling Rate 514.776121 Hz
@@Tuuvas One more question. If you have reWASD, could you pls do same test with this program(xinput_tester) in switch mod wired and wireless. In rewasd make switch to virtual xinput, so tester could see gamepad. Thank you
I'm not much of a FPS gamer with a controller, so if you're referring to games like that I just wouldn't be a great judge. But for DCS World? I can hold a manual hover in the Apache just fine using the gyro. I'd say that's a reasonably accurate gyro
I know it's difficult, but can you describe the issues with gyro accuracy in those other controllers? I had some problems initially so I'm wondering if my issues were the same, but most if not all went away after I tuned the gyro settings in the Space Station app.
@@Tuuvas personally i do love gyro feature and I did tune using their software but somehow the tune also doesnt seems to have the accuracy or consistency i prefered as sometimes it moves a lot sometimes it moves a little when i steer my controller to any direction. maybe the way I tuned isnt right or perhaps vader 3 pro have improved gyro tracking chip.
@@rusyaidirahman119 Ahhh, so the acceleration/curves is what's getting you I think. Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to turn off these settings to give a more linear and consistent gyro. I wonder if reWASD allows for those sorts of gyro customizations for controllers they fully support.
