Flyfishing vs spinfishing for trout. Two anglers two methods on the same river. Which method is the most effective?

I hit Rotorua fishing Fly in the morning with Local legend Jamie @RototroutNZ / @rototroutnz944 check out his channel and and face book for some epic NZ trout.
Just a casual day fishing the river in town, catching up with a few of the locals at the local pools for a social day on the river. Man these guys can catch trout. they make it look too easy. They have a world class fishery walking distance from home and the fishing be epic.
Spin Method:
